"You should never confess your feelings to someone,"
Before she graduated from high school, Larissa learned something about confession: to never do it.
When a relationship is established, this process occurs gradually. Nonetheless, announcing how much you admire, someone often backfires. So no. Never "confess" your affections to someone. It seldom works. We generally associate confessing with a one-sided love affair. The actual confession occurs when both parties are visibly involved in the relationship.
In her case, she only had the courage to do it because of her friends. The pressure they put on her and the thought of never seeing him again because of their upcoming graduation.
Although she kept telling herself that she wouldn't expect too much, she still felt hurt once the rejection was slapped right in her face. Of course, she has nothing against Jerrod after he rejects her, but still, from that day, she promised not to take the first step or approach anyone first ever again.
However, currently, why is she taking the first step again?
"So... Ah... My name is Larissa Mutya. Do you not remember me?" Larissa cautiously asked, while internally she wanted to hit herself for her action. She then checked on Jerrod's reaction, but he looked more lost than to recall who she was.
"I am sorry, I don't remember you." Jerrod replied. He acted clueless as a part of his strategy, which brought a new expression to Larissa's face.
The usual stoic, cold, and blunt expression of Larissa exploded in embarrassment as her face turned red. She yelled while looking very flustered. "Ack! Sorry! Forget what I just said!"
Jerrod doesn't want to talk about the confession yet, which is why he hurriedly changed the topic, cutting off Larissa's statement.
"Before I called you at–."
"Anyway, are we going for dinner tonight? You also need to change. Your hair was also covered in white powder." Jerrod closes their distance as he dusts off the powder on Larissa's hair net.
"I… I… really…"
Larissa continues to stutter and her face remains flushed red. She slightly feels dizzy from being flustered and confused about how to deal with the situation. Larissa grabbed Jerrod's hand and dragged him out of the convenience store.
Her strength was scary for Jerrod, as he guessed Larissa might be stronger than him. Gulping his own saliva, he just let Larissa drag him to the parking area until they stopped in front of his car.
"Your car key, please!"
Larissa's voice was much louder than usual, and that made Jerrod obediently hand over his car key. She then opened Jerrod's car door from the passenger seat to let Jerrod in. Jerrod just looked at Larissa confusedly, but he still followed what Larissa wanted him to do. After closing the door for him, Larissa sat in the driver's seat and started the car.
Jerrod was entirely confused and couldn't help but to comment, "Excuse me? Why do I feel like I am being kidnapped?" He could not believe how strange Larissa would act when she's embarrassed. He suddenly remembered how she was when she confessed to him. She also yelled and acted hastily after being flustered.
"Ah! Sorry! I just thought it was best for you to go home instead! Please set your home address!" Larissa continued to yell, and she drove the car without waiting for Jerrod to give her his address. With her speed and questionable driving skills, Jerrod feared for his safety and held tightly to the seatbelt.
"I'll drive you home, sir, instead of dinner!"
Hearing Larissa's statement, Jerrod loosened his grip on the seatbelt and looked at Larissa with great disappointment. "Oh, in the end, you won't dine with me."
"N-no. I…" Larissa finally slowed down, but her driving remained dangerous as she focused her gaze on Jerrod instead of the road. She felt awful whenever she saw Jerrod's disgruntled expression. She knows she doesn't have any obligation to give Jerrod time, but she still wants to fulfill what Jerrod wants. "I-It's not like that, sir. I just don't have the time to spare."
She gripped tightly to the steering wheel before she yelled again.
"My cooking is good, sir!"
"Huh? What?" Jerrod shouted as well, with Larissa suddenly stepping on the accelerator, and she's back at driving the car crazily. Jerrod held tightly to the grab handle as much as he held onto his dear life.
Larissa didn't notice how much she was scaring Jerrod and seriously drove the car away at great speed.
"I'll take you to my house, sir! I'll cook you food instead!"
