It's not an offensive comment to hear because he really was born with an imaginary silver spoon in his mouth. That saying is usually uttered by people who are jealous and envious of his wealth, which he easily gained because of his parents. He could easily ignore those words, but hearing them coming from Larissa's mouth makes him feel affronted for being one.
