Chapter 17

It took an hour and a half to reach the private airstrip where the jet was fueled and ready to go.

Rena and Megan were accustomed to private flights. Megan's dad, Mido is a well-known geneticist and would travel with Megan when she was little. While Rena was a paper artist, there are times that her works were transported with her because some of the paper she used was infused with gold or other precious gems. Their fathers would always hire a private jet, but this jet was a thing of beauty.

The outer hull was stunning. Black monochrome covered the body. An outline of a wolf on a dune can be seen on the tail of the jet, while the word Shifter Dunes was written in both Arabic and English can be read on either side of the main body. The cockpit also looked like the head of a black wolf as the white outline was artistically painted. The inside? It was far better than any jets they had rented before.

The interior was done in black, while the accents were gold and yellow mustard. The black carpet was highlighted with yellow mustard to look like sands on a moonless night. Black leather seats were outlined with gold, its elegance was something out of a Forbes 100 house list. Both women looked up, expecting to see a chandelier. Only to find the fairy lights installed on the ceiling.

"You can put the chest on one of the bedrooms at the back," Rooka said.

"Bedrooms?" Both women asked.

"There are two bedrooms in the Alpha's jet," Layla explained. "Both have bathrooms, other than the ones the pilots and the passengers used. The jet was designed for the Alpha Pair and their kids. The fairy lights were installed about seven years ago when Sir Khalid's brother had to use the jet." Layla saw the question in their eyes. She chuckled and continued. "Sir Moh has ten children. Seven of them are not yet full adults."

"When they said they were going to visit, father almost had a heart attack," Rooka continued. He was occupying one of the sofa-like seats with a table in front of it. There was a similar seat on the other side of the plane. Kaz was occupying it, there were two open laptops on the table, while Rooka was arranging some paper on his. "Take rest, Serena, lie down. The flight is six hours." He stood up and kissed the top of her head. "I need to finish these things. Megan will be with you, so don't worry."

"Hey! You are not my boss!"

"Yes, he is not, my pet," Wayne casually replied. He took the opposite from Rooka. "But you are worried. The two of you might as well rest."

Before Megan can say something back, Rena dragged her to the bedroom, with Beth and Layla behind them.

"You can rant, the walls are soundproof," Layla informed them, it was kinda hard to understand her words because she was lying face down on the bed

Rena put the chest on top of the table in the room. She looked around and saw some of Rooka's things. A jacket on the chair, an open suitcase on the side of the table, and three bottles of perfume. She laughed when she saw Pink Sugar from Aquolina. Who would have thought, an alpha of a very powerful lineage would have a feminine scent.

"I'm going to change," she told the women.

Once inside the bathroom, she glanced at the mirror and grimaced, she looked like a zombie, and yet whenever Rooka looked at her, there was a glint of something she didn't want to name.

Megan was in full rant mode, and the only way to stop her was food, or she would hurt the person who caused it. Since Wayne is not a good target, food is the next best thing.

She washed her face and combed her hair. Once that was done, she changed her shirt for one of Rooka's. It was two sizes big on her, but she didn't mind, as long as he didn't either.

"Layla, I can cook?" She stepped out of the bathroom and asked.

"Yes. Alpha made sure to tell the pilots to stock the two fridge in the jet."

"Two fridge?" Megan stopped in mid-rant to ask that.

"Yep, we have two two-door fridge, a meat freezer, and a fully functional oven. They are stocked. From milk, meats, veggies. Even the condiments are complete."

"No, bhe. Don't, I know what you are thinking and six hours of torture is not good. You can do it once we are on land and we know we are safe. We need Wayne, okay?" Rena saw the glint of revenge in her eyes, she was going to retaliate one way or another. With her knowledge of all things herbs from wild to the ultra-rare, she was not a person one should mess with. "I can fight, Rooka's pack can fight, you can't. I don't want to repeat the beach incident, those Black Were will do anything to get me, and I do not want you to be caught by them."

Megan sighed. As much as she wants to torture Wayne, she can't. "Want me to help you cook?"

"No, I'm good. I think I can cook for everyone. The pilots are bears?"

Layla just raised her hand as a yes. "I want a salad. With greens...and orange, and yellow."

"Carrots and corn?" She looked up and eagerly nodded. "Nuru?"

"He is a man, meat and potatoes are good for him."

"What will you be making?" Asked Megan and Layla.

"Since this is a Were plane, the oven must be massive. Gonna roast some meat, and either mash potatoes or rice. Can you ask them on your link?"

Layla nodded and opened her link to their alpha. Alpha? Would you like to have potatoes or rice to pair with your meal? Alpha Serena will be cooking.

"Can you also ask the bears if they want meat or fish?"

She also wants to know if the bears would like to have fish or meat. Rena looked at Layla while using the 'link' they have. She had seen her mom and dad communicate the same way, but never this scope.

"All of them voted for rice, Alpha said he will be helping you once he is done with his meetings. The bears will be happy whatever you serve them. Nuru asked if there would be dessert, but Wayne was glaring at him," Layla was trying her best not to laugh. "My brother has a death wish. He can make the most decadent chocolate cake. But he only bakes it for Sir Khalid, alpha's dad. The rest of us will only get a store-bought cake."

Serena smiled, it was easy for her to picture Nuru doing that to Khalid. She can still remember the man who carried her while they visited Egypt. The warmth and joy she remembered being with Rooka's parents made her ache for her own.

"Get some rest you two," she commanded. "Especially you, bhe. Rooka made sure I slept, but I know you didn't sleep a wink. Even with Lily in the room with you. So rest. We will be lifting off in a few minutes, not sure if it's okay not to be strapped to your seat when we take off."

"It's okay with this jet, the manufacturer made sure that it stabilized once the jet starts to lift off," Layla said.

"Okay rest, can't really sleep if there are a lot of things on my head."

In the main cabin, the men were busy with work. Nuru was looking at a tablet while talking over his headset, the same with Kaz, and Wayne, and all of them were speaking in Hindi. Rooka was also busy talking on the phone, but he pulled her to his side when she was about to pass by. She was about to say something when the light for the seatbelt was turned on.

Rena sighed and just waited for the seatbelt sign to be turned off. He was absently running his thumb on the back of her hand. Rooka's skin was rough and worn out, some calluses came from either hard labor or the cause of changing every full moon.

The air suddenly changed, she was not inside the jet, but on a sandy beach. In front of her was a cute house with caramel-colored walls. She blinked and the next thing knew she was in bed with Rooka.

She was laying on top of black silk sheets. Rooka was naked and the look he was giving her made her shiver. Was it anticipation? Or from the cold? One thing is sure, the heat coming from him was enough to warm her bare body. Serena whimpered he was so careful with her that each time he moved both of them moaned.

He slowly kissed her neck, giving her a bite, and sucking the bitten part, as he slowly rocked their bodies together.

"Baby?"

Serena opened her eyes to see the scene vanish, seeing Rooka fully dressed but with eyes full of worried concern for her absentmindedness. She gave him a fake smile and quickly left her seat to go to the kitchen area.

"Lem?"

"Yes, princess?"

"How did mom's precognition work? Touch? Or random?"

"Random. Did something happen?"

She shook her head and just washed her face again. Her face was flushed red because of the wild scene shown to her by her vision. One thing is for sure, no matter how much she wanted to avoid that scene...it will happen.
