Chapter 7

Cicil came back to her desk and found Gia was already there. As soon as their eyes met, Gia gave a nod and smiled at her.

This was the girl she thought of her desk friend! But she turned out to be the personal assistant of Chase Wellington! Now she could never talk behind his back especially she couldn't keep calling him a jerk. If Gia reported it to him, Lord knew what would he do.

And now he had told her to keep working under her... Overwork!

She was basically trapped there...

Cicil glanced at Gia and asked warily, "So, you are his assistant?"

Gia let out a sigh, "Yeah and it's hella tiring..."

"Then why are you here?" Cicil pointed at the table since it was a reception desk. It wasn't like she needed to sit here and work all day. She held higher position than a simple receptionist and she could just have her own chamber or go sit with Chase.

Gia said, "Well, boss said to keep an eye on everyone until the party. So there is no complaints in this branch."

"Party?"

Gia nodded as she kept typing in her desktop, "Yeah. He is throwing a party for opening ceremony of Star hotels in Wantaro. After that, we'll be returning..."

Cicil nodded. So in a week they would be returning back.

Well, that was a good news!

After that she might not have to work so hard especially overtime.

For the next few hours, she kept attending the calls and reserving the rooms. Certainly, a lot of famous personalities were coming to attend this party. While working, Cicil sneakily took a glance at Gia's desktop and found, she had been sending all those invitation.

After lunch, Cicil finally finished her work but as she had to do overtime, Gia had given her a lot of invitation and mails of their special guests.

It was five in the evening as Gia said, "Make sure you finish sending all these invitation by tomorrow while I have to go work with the decoration the hall."

"Hall?" She asked knowing this hotel had meeting halls but not a reception hall.

Gia nodded as she turned off her computer, "Yeah. The Emirates Hall two blocks away from this building, boss had booked it." She stretched her back and arms and looked at Cicil, "I have to find an event manager for this. Do you know someone?"

Cicil shook her head. She didn't know anyone other than her appartment owner whom she had seen only once. She didn't even know her neighbours since they seemed to be always stuck inside their rooms.

Gia let out a long breath and said, "Alright, then I'll have to find one. Damn! I have only a week!"

Cicil muttered, "Seems like your boss is good at juice out every ounce of juice from his employees..."

"Tell me about it." Gia muttered as both of them chuckled.

Gia had left when another receptionist had taken her place. While Cicil tackled other customers, she also had to send the invitations.

And it made her really tired...

It was around eight when she finally finished her work. She had done a three hours overtime.

She bed his colleagues 'good nights' and left.

As she entered her room, she groaned. "She had to clean the room but she was too tired to do that.

She muttered, "I'll clean on the weekend..."

She took a quick shower and flopped on the bed. A moan came out as her tired body melted against the soft mattress.

But immediately she realised, she had forgotten to buy dinner.

Another groan came out of the back of her throat. She was too exhausted to cook anything.

Now her stomach growled as if it was angry at her irresponsible nature.

She lazily went to her kitchen and opened her fridge for something to eat but it betrayed her with only milk and juice.

"Ugh." She forgot to buy her groceries this month as well.

She took her room key and a few penny while left wearing only her track suit and a hooded t-shirt.

At the Mart, she bought her needful things and headed to the counter where a woman was shouting out at the counter boy. The woman was wearing a pink coat along with a baby pink pants and a deep pink pumps which matched her coat and not to forget her pink lipstick.

She was a symbol of all Pink! Ever her side bag was pink. A different shade but pink. Only her hair was different since it was brown and cascading down on her slender shoulders.

A few people gathered there to enjoy the drama that the pink Lady was giving.

"Do you know, who am I? I will sue you and your whole family," she shouted and the counter boy flinched at her voice.

He said weakly, "No, ma'am. We can not give you anything without you paying for it. My humble apology... "

She cut him off, moving her hands in the air and said, "Oh, you take your apology in where the sun doesn't shine."

The counter boy's cheeks now grew red at her bold statement and the queue behind her growing big.

Cicil's stomach had started doing flip flops by now and she went straight to the counter, ignoring the glares the whole queue was sending at her.

She put her bank notes on the counter along with her groceries, "Add her things in my bill."

The pink Lady's eyes were bulging out from her sockets and her brows furrowed in confusion. But she didn't utter a word while the boy took the notes and hastily put her things with Cicil's groceries. Seems like he wanted this to end like Cicil.

Cicil took her packets and glanced at the young lady in her formal pink suit. She gestured her to follow her as they headed towards the exit, the lady trailing behind her.

"Here's your things." Cicil gave the Lady's things to her.

She took it and said with a shy tone, "Um... Thank you. I mean. I will pay you back, I promise. I... actually I forgot my purse." She looked at the ground when her cheeks seemed to change its colours.

"It's okay. I did it for myself as well. I'm really hungry so, I needed an excuse." Cicil smiled sheepishly.

They both burst out in giggles.

"I'm Melinda, by the way. Melinda Jefferson. But you can call me Molly." The pink Lady stretched out her hand.

"I'm Cicil Brooks." Cicil shook her hand with her as they introduced themselves.

"Unique name." Melinda remarked.

"Thank you." Cicil smiled shyly.

"Let's go eat something..." Melinda said then stopped abruptly, "Wait, I forgot my purse."

She looked at Cicil and smiled sheepishly, "Sorry, I'll give you a treat, next time."

"It's totally okay, " Cicil said.

They exchanged their numbers and Melinda took her leave. Before leaving she said Cicil to meet her here tomorrow after seven.

Cicil came back to her room and took her meal. She felt a sudden excitement going to her work next day since she had made a new friend!

But she was unable to sleep a blink.
