Father Like Daughter
I wake up to my alarm clock ringing, I sit up rubbing my eyes but before I could even try and turn my alarm off my older brother Bobby shouts from next door
"Can you turn that stupid alarm off some of us are trying to sleep" he shouts
Well if he wasn't out drinking all night then he wouldn't be tired
"Give me a chance" I shout back while leaning over to switch off my alarm before my brother breaks through my bedroom door and does it himself
I slowly get out of bed and walk into my bathroom,yes I'm lucky enough to have my own bathroom I wouldn't want to imagine what it would be like sharing with my brother
I wouldn't say my parents are rich but they do earn a lot, my mum and dad own they're own business I don't know what they do but they do get a lot of money from it. I jump in the shower before doing my makeup and picking an outfit for college, it's the start of my 2nd year of a year 3 course I'm studying photography which is one of my favourite things.
After I'm ready I walk down stairs to see my mum making breakfast while Bobby had his head on the table
My mum places the plate down making Bobby moan in pain
"Please don't be loud" he says talking about his hangover
"Well maybe you shouldn't have gone out drinking last night"my mum says placing another plate on the table making him once again moan in pain
I look up at my mum smiling while she sends me an evil smirk, my dad always says how I've got my mothers personality and I have to admit I do see some similarities
I start eating my breakfast while Bobby was just moaning about his head, my father walks in talking on the phone
"Alright mate we'll see you later today" he says before he hangs up
"Do you have to be so loud?" Bobby says making me laugh earning a glare from him
"He was out drinking again" my mum says as dad sits next to Bobby
"He's living his life leave the boy alone" my father says as the door knocks
"That will be Adam" I say standing up walking over to the front door to see him standing there with two star bucks in his hands
"Just what the doctor ordered, the doctor being me" he says handing one to me before I walk into the kitchen him hot on my tail
"Why do you always need to join us?" Bobby asks at Adam who didn't seem to care
"Why do you always have to go out drinking?" I say earning another glare from Bobby
"Well good morning Adam sorry about Bobby he's just in a bad mood" my mum says smiling towards Adam
"Oh it's fine Mrs Wilson I won't take any of it to heart" Adam says which just made me laugh as the door knocked once more
"We're just so popular" I say grabbing my bag that was by my chair walking out to answer the door again with Adam on my tail, I open it to see Christian one of Bobby's friends there
"He's in the kitchen just a quick warning he has a hang over" I say letting him in as I walk out with Adam
"Oh thanks Emily" he says sending me a wink before he closes the door
Once we were out my garden gate Adam begun with his speech about Christian
"Oh did you see the way he looked at you? He's totally into you" he says linking arms with me
"No Adam we're just friends I've known him since we were babies" I say taking a sip of my Starbucks
"That doesn't matter I've been telling you for years that he likes you but you just don't listen" he says which is true he started telling me when we were in school that Christian had a thing for me but I always tell him he doesn't but he just doesn't listen
"Adam just understand that me and him will never be a thing, he's my brothers best friend" I say as a car pulled up next to us
"You forgot this honey" my mum says jumping out the car handing me my photography folder I probably forgot that cause of Bobby
"Oh thanks mum my teacher would be so annoyed if I forgot it" I smile as Adam looked in the car
"Sending me death glares Bobby isn't gonna do anything" he says they must be giving Bobby and Christian a lift cause of his hangover
"Just come on Adam" I say grabbing his arm knowing if he sees Christian in the car I won't hear the end of how he's totally into me that he even made my parents drop my work off
"Thanks guys see you at home!" I shout pulling Adam down the road
"I'll see you in the morning Bobs bright and early!" Adam shouts trying to get on Bobby's nerves making me laugh
We walk back down the road Adam linking arms with me once more as my parents stop at the traffic lights, we were just walking past one of the few ally ways that were on this road when someone catches my eye
"You do look like your mother don't you?" He says making me look at him confused
"Excuse me?"I say stopping making Adam stop with me
"Me and your mother used to be a thing back in the day way before she got with your scum of a father" he says walking closer towards me
"Then it looks like my mother had a lucky escape then and well my father is much better man than you'll ever be" I smile throwing the star bucks that I had in my hand over his face also throwing the cup just for good measure before turning around linking arms with a laughing Adam and walking away
"Like father like daughter" he shouts which just makes me laugh
At this point I didn't know how much I was really like my father but I would soon find out.
