Aeris paced in front of her room. Often she stopped and checked for anyone approaching only to be answered by an empty yard and she returned to her pacing with a heavy sigh.
Today was the day Maggie came home from Aubrey’s. To Aeris it seemed the recovery took a very long time, but she also had no idea how it usually took to recover from gunshot wounds. But fall would be upon them soon. The days were getting colder and shorter. Already several trees were showing signs of shedding their leaves. Maggie had missed the whole summer confined to a bed.
They still saw each other, but it wasn’t enough knowing that eventually, she had to go home without her.
