Primal Reaction

“That’s what it feels like.” He explained.

I stared at him in awe.

“No.” He amended. Holding very still to study a spot to the side of my shoulder. “It’s probably more intense for me because it’s such a relief to the crazed need of my beast.”

The wolf. I remembered the glimpses of silver fur which had crept from his fur. And the flashes of yellow eyes as he’d fought against the animal.

Trying to stay human for me.

“Why aren’t you looking at me?” I was a little wounded that he didn’t wish to see what I’d experienced.

He’s pushed for it all night but now avoids witnessing it.

He finds me ugly? A tiny voice pressed layers of shame over me. He’s disgusted by my reaction.

I shivered in fear that I’d done something very wrong. Made myself more vulnerable than I needed to be.
