Side Story: Mother's Day

Mum, mommy, mother…

There are a lot of ways to call that beautiful person, some of them can show respect, and others the love you have for them but words are too little to represent how every kid feels for the one and only person who gives them birth, the one who suffers from pain, hunger, and changes in all over its body all due to love.

Of course, not all mothers love their children and not all of them are good…

One case was with Jaden's mother.

Jaden was never loved by Elein and he was well aware of that fact, but as an innocent child, he still loved his mother and carried a little hope of being recognized by her someday.

Being excluded from her or his siblings wasn't that big of a deal, it didn't mean anything to him because his father never let him feel lonely and sometimes his mother looked at him for some time, and that was enough for him to feel happy.

But that was before that day…

When Jaden was a small child of 5 years he understood in the cruelest way that no matter what he did, or how good he was at something his mother would never love him back.

A few years ago

In Snowlight Hill each pack has its own school to teach the youngest children of all of its members, however; the Moonlight pack which has the biggest school of all of them, and accepts members of other packs was the most visited in those festivals.

Obviously, Jaden as part of the Moonlight pack attends that school, but he never received any special treatment there. In fact, it was completely the opposite, since his own family loathed him everyone there also hated him and his sister Alice made it even worse for him.

It was April when the director suddenly announced a new event for the next month. The school started preparing a big festival for all the mothers of the students and each teacher was preparing something different.

One class was doing a small performance, while others were practicing a dance, and another class was planning to sing a special song but Jaden’s class was doing something different.

When the teacher announced what they had to do Jaden felt lucky, his teacher asked them to prepare a small painting for their mothers. It could be a portrait or something that represents them.

Jaden was extremely excited, he loved painting, and since he was pretty good at painting it was a piece of cake for him to make something amazing.

With his father’s help, Jaden could obtain all that he needed to make a meddle-sized portrait of his mother but even Asher didn't know what was going on.

A few weeks before the event when they were having dinner Jaden gains the courage to ask Elein to come to their festival and even though she only takes the invitation and nods in silence Jaden feels excited.

However, he never thought what could possibly happen that day…

“Dad! Hurry up, it's going to be my turn soon!”

A small child with short white hair and big green eyes pouted at his father who was laughing at his excited expression.

“I got it, I got it but it's your fault my little Jay, how can you paint something so big?”

Asher was pretending to be tired but even if the paint wasn't heavy at all; it was really bigger than the other kid's paint.

“Are you really not going to tell me what you painted?”

“You are going to see it soon so what's the point, Dad?”

Asher puted at his son's answer but that only made Jaden laugh.

After some minutes Asher finally put the work of his son in its place and waited in the crowd with the rest of the parents. At the right time, Elein really came and saw Alice work first. She made her mother’s favorite flower and Elein carried Alice with a big smile and gave her some kisses on her cheek.

When Jaden saw that he hoped his painting could make her also feel that happy, however when he revealed that beautiful portrait Elein only looked at it with disgust.

Jaden was explaining how he made a portrait of his mother wearing her official attire and next to her was also Elein but in her wolf for and was surrounded by snow. It was an elegant view and a marvelous work, they called Jaden a genius for painting something so amazing at a young age, and all the parents cheered him.

Asher was astonished at his child's talent and was going to go there to praise him, however; he was late…

Elein approached Jaden in silence, and he thought she was going to hug him or maybe pat his head but he never imagined that she would slap him.

“What a waste, never do something so foolish like this again”

Those were the crude words she spit on him. Of course, Asher immediately rushed and hugged him while Jaden could only hide in his father’s arms. They started to fight again, however; Jaden couldn't hear anything.

The pain he had in his chest was bigger than the shouting voices of his parents.

When Elein did that she broke him into pieces… it could seem like a ridiculous think but it was extremely painful for Jaden.

Jaden never wanted to admit that his mother loathed him, he didn't even know the reason but asking her scared him even more.

When they arrived at home Asher brought him to his room but in that instant Jaden broke down and cried hopelessly all night until he fell asleep.

Asher could only hug his son and try to console him.

The next day Jaden asked his father why his mother hated him so much? He was a good child, he never fought, he studied hard, he was respectful, and had good manners so why?

What was the thing that he lacked?

“Dad… does she really hate me because everyone thinks I'm an omega?”

Asher clenched his fist hearing that question and hugged him one more time, he didn't answer and instead, he kept apologizing to him while he mumbled a song.

Jaden was mumbling a song in the air, lying in a rocking chair full of soft and fluffy pillows. He was enjoying the morning sun that delicately caressed his body while he was swinging in the chair.

His long hair was moving with the help of the wind as his soft voice combined with that big and tender smile made him a beautiful picture.

While he rocked and sang that song he caressed with love the notorious belly that he had. His baby, that small blessing inside him was moving enthusiastically every time he heard the voice of "his mother"

"It's a beautiful melody"

Alucard's strong but warm voice made Jaden stop rocking for a moment and open his eyes, turning his face to see his partner.

"It's my favorite lullaby, my father used to sing it to me."

"Really? Was Asher a loving father?" Alucard couldn't believe that because there were a lot of rumors that he was as cold as ice but every time Jaden spoke about him it was really different from those rumors.

"He was the best"

Jaden kept his warm smile as he remembered his father. Jaden would have loved to be able to show his baby to his father. Asher surely would be the happiest grandfather in the world… Unfortunately, that would never happen.

Alucard noticed his husband’s sad expression and frowned angrily, he didn't like seeing him that way, and in those moments, he cursed himself for not knowing what to do or say to cheer up his husband.

The Alpha could only leave a slight caress in his hair and give him a kiss on his forehead, hoping that gesture would show him that he was there for him and that he wasn't alone anymore. Of course, Alucard didn't know that for Jaden that was enough to make him feel better.

Jaden, who was simple, merely wished to be loved, so those small details were all he needed. He yearned for someone who really cared about him, listened to him, and treated him well. He didn't need expensive jewelry or clothes to feel happy, just an honest gesture was more than enough.

Extremely carefully he got up from his comfortable seat to hug Alucard, his partner, his husband whom he hated at first but at the time loved, and the person who now he couldn't live without... His precious soulmate.

Alucard felt a little embarrassed by that sudden hug but he immediately hugged him back, he was happy to be able to cheer him up. After a rain or kisses from his partner, he carries him and goes to prepare the carriage to go to the city.

“¡Hey! Put me down! Jajajaja, where are you taking me?”

“Have you forgotten what day it is? It's your day Jay… so Let's go on a date”

Alucard said that with enthusiasm, he had already prepared everything for the date, a good restaurant to eat, Jaden’s favorite flowers of course, and beautiful music to go with his meal. Alucard knew that day was a little difficult for his partner but he wanted to change that bad memory with a good one and he was also unconsciously showing off his pregnant partner to all.

After so many years alone, and some ups and downs with Jaden, Alucard now genuinely could say he was happy and complete, he found his soulmate and soon he would have a lovely child with him.
