THIRD-PERSON POV
After the incident with William back in the early 1400's England, Iris and Gaia decided that it would be safer to go into hiding from then.
Caretakers were left in charge of the castles for renovation and expansion, a cloaking spell was placed to keep them safe and to hide the rest from William. In the early 1500s, they had returned to their place of birth where they began to rebuild their coven and try to return it to the way their parents had kept it during their reign. Iris concluded that being weak was going to help her protect neither herself nor her sister and their covens. For years she trained with the best like her sister had when their parents had disappeared. They had added 400 rooms to the castle, 7 training grounds, a hospital, and small villas around the castle within the palace grounds.
Gaia, however, would travel with their sister all over the world, leaving Gaia’s first fledgling, Thomas Evans in charge. Being a pureblood had its perks, especially when the vampire king grants each born vampire a special ability. After Gaia had escaped the clutches of William, she had thought because of the many sins she committed, she was being punished. For hundreds of years, Gaia had been unable to use her powers. Though she felt the faint energy, it remained dormant and too weak for her to use.
Gaia had the most powerful gift of all; it made her fearless. It made her strong. But when someone had too much power, it made others fearful; and when people are overcome by fear, they turn to the dark side. Due to such a fact, whatever William had done was carried out easier than he would’ve planned.
Gaia was blessed with the gift of steal while Iris was blessed with the power of the elementals, though Gaia’s gift was proven to be the best; she could duplicate any vampiric gift and use it as her own.
Gaia's POV
For years it seems as though my hatred for William has only grown.
Who the hell does he think he is to proclaim that I am his beloved? When the fuck was that decision ever up to him? Especially not after everything he has done and everything, he put us through, put me through.
During the 1500s, one of my subordinates found some information that led me to believe that there was a vampire that could revive the dead as her gift. Immediately I sought them out, however, I did not expect said vampire to be pureblooded. It wasn’t until further down the line that we discovered she was a Flanington. Kitilya, who was believed to have died when our mother perished under the hands of William was still alive. We believed she was hidden away before mother succumbed to her injuries. She was taken in by a human man that was banished to the wasteland. She agreed to return with us without hesitation, overjoyed to finally meet us, and when Iris and I informed her of our reason for seeking her out, she readily agreed. Yearning to meet the family she dreamt of but was taken from her before she could meet them. It wasn’t until further discussions that she told us her gift had limitations. For her to utilize it she needed something that belonged to the deceased and there still needed to be a physical body. After using such an unheard-of gift that defied nature, she would need hours to recuperate before it could be used again.
With that, we managed to revive our 4 siblings: Daniel, who was the firstborn followed by Lucus, the second-born, Delani the first daughter, and lastly Nathaniel. I am the second-born daughter but the 5th child, Iris is shortly behind, and Kitilya is the last. Iris and I filled them in on all that occurred over the years including mother and father’s death. It affected Kitilya the least because she never got the chance to meet them unlike the rest of us that were raised by them and grew within the castle walls. Iris and I had gained a lot of knowledge over the years but when our elder siblings filled in the blank spots, we finally had a lot of questions answered. However, when we revived our parents, we decided to stay to go into hiding.
No chance was to be taken and no slip-ups were allowed; the safety of us and our people depended on it.
A few centuries later
20xx
Initially, she was forbidden from leaving the palace grounds for her protection, but I should’ve known she would disobey palace laws and sneak out.
I'm gonna kill her.
"Iris Flanington!!!", I mind linked her. "I know you can hear me. Answer me right now!"
No Response.
She always does something irresponsible and selfish like this. You would think a few centuries and everything we’ve been through would add maturity to her character. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and ran into a clearing where her scent strengthened, though another scent filled my nose. Werewolf Territory.
You've got to be fucking kidding me.
Though there is a peaceful alliance among the supernatural species, vampires still carried a negative reputation. Us, Flanington’s may only be half breeds, but we do not look like our mother’s side of the family, The Sun Witches. With our appearance, wandering on wolf territory can't be anything good.
Ugh! Fucking hell Iris!
This area is unfamiliar to me.
I need to quickly find her.
I scan the area in suspicion and slowly stepped onto their land.
When nothing happened after a few moments I sped through the trees following her scent.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw shadows weaving between the trees. When I approached another clearing, then 10 wolves burst through.
Shit.
They relentlessly tried grabbing me to halt my actions but to no avail. When I finally broke through to the clearing, a large brown wolf tried to tackle me to the ground as I leaped over a large boulder. To avoid any further conflict in a situation where I am in the wrong, I skid to a stop and watch as they circle me growling. I glance at the brown wolf that tried to tackle me and leaned against the tree with my arms folded. Sensing the power rolling off him, he must be the beta. To show them that I was not there to cause problems I raised both arms in the air for them to see. They looked at each other in what I could only assume is them communicating through mind links and started shifting back to their human forms.
While one of the wolves tossed them basketball shorts. They looked confused as to why I was not attacking them.
"What are you doing on our territory, vampire?", the one with dark hair and green eyes asked.
"Never have we had two vampires on pack lands in one day.", another one said.
Two vampires? Did they see Iris?
"Was the other vampire a female?", I questioned.
They just looked at each other and nodded.
"Alphas said to bring her to the cabin, they'll deal with her."
I stared at them in suspicion. If it came down to fight, none of them could stop me. I could just kill them but that would be breaching the treaty. I could just destroy the entire pack but that would bring me too much attention.
Looking at each of them, I decided it was best to follow them first because after all, I don’t know what knowledge they have on Iris.
"Do not try anything, just come with us or We. Will. Kill. You."
If it does come to a fight, I’ll probably kill him first for speaking to me like that.
"Let’s go"
One of them came up and tied my hands with rope. The slight burn indicates it was blessed by the holy temple. Items blessed by worshippers of God are what weakens a vampire to the strength of a normal human. After knotting the ropes, they turn as solid as steel leaving my wrist appearing to be immobile.
If I were a regular vampire, they might have worked but my siblings and I come from the coven of Sun Witches who were descendants of high priests and priestesses of the first church to ever be built.
After a few minutes of walking, we entered a large open lawn that had an enormous wooden cabin situated at the center. I stopped when I noticed they tried to lead me through a door that had stairs leading to what I am sure is a prison underground. Wolves were known for preferring underground prisons. I side-eyed several wolves circling the perimeter and analyze their movements. I could smell Iris had passed through there, but her scent was weak. After Raising my head to the sky, I took a deep breath to gather all the scents in the area and immediately recoiled when I smelt a specific scent that sent a shudder through my body. I turned my body in the direction the smell was coming from and looked over at the 4 wolves approaching me with my sister trailing behind. Her eyes widened as she spots me, anxiety in her eyes and body stiffening with fear.
I narrowed my eyes at her, “You!”
She flinches and hides behind the wolf with dark brown hair and grey eyes.
I frown in confusion at the situation. Logically the wolves are supposed to be keeping her guarded as a prisoner and see her as an enemy but instead, a large male approaching with the group shields her away from my angry eyes and pats her head for comfort. I turn my entire body in their direction as they stop a few feet from me. Looking at the wolves all inclining their heads in submission had me immediately deducting that he was the alpha from the power I can feel rolling off him in waves.
His smell bothers me the most. It fills my chest with a strange warmth and unwillingly eases my mind that for the longest while hadn’t known peace. The disturbing calm that washes over my body is so familiar yet so foreign. Like the name of my favorite candy that I had long forgotten the taste and smell of. And while it calms me, it also leaves me feeling anxious for reasons I do not know……and that bothers me.
I look at him warily from feet up. When our eyes connect, I freeze over as he does. Head blaring with alarms at the familiar feeling of a mate bond snapping together and fusing.
Now it all made sense. Why I feel so connected to a stranger…why the smell is so familiar, yet it’s one I’ve never smelt before.
My mate.
The shock slowly disappears from his face as an excited smile starts to bloom. He takes a step forward as I take a step back. The fear I had long forgotten slowly resurfaced with each growing moment.
“That’s impossible”, a whisper filled with horror leaves my lips.
I have another mate?? That CAN NOT be possible.
Okay…calm down Gaia, let’s be rational here and think this through. This must be another trick…...maybe my conscience is finally crumbling under the weight of my sorrow. This isn’t real……it isn’t…...it isn’t. I just need to get iris and get out of here as soon as possible.
I raised my head, ignored the male looking at me in concern, and look at Iris.
“We are leaving. NOW!”
She steps out from hiding behind the male, “Gaia wait- “
I twist my wrist and break the ropes as they crumble like broken rocks at my feet, “I will hear none of it! You disobeyed a direct order and potentially placed all of us in danger. What you did was RECKLESS!”
The wolves were surprised that I, a vampire broke the rope so nonchalantly. The only control they had over me wasn’t ever in their hands and the shock on their face was proof that they realized it too. They crouched down and growled at me as they circled me in to try and stop me from making any further moves. I eyed them with a sneer, “Had you done that a few centuries ago, you weak pups would’ve been dead already”
They snarled at the insult of course and stepped forward threateningly but I was too ruffled to care. The guy who is suspected to be my mate finally steps forward with his hands out trying to reason with me in the most pleasing voice I had ever heard for as long as I could remember, “Wait”
I looked at him annoyed. I wasn’t sure what I was annoyed with or who but the unbridling anger slowing rising in me was coming from an unknown place deep inside me and I wasn’t sure they wanted to find out how I could release it. Too many things didn’t make sense and the lack of control I had in this unknown territory was disadvantageous for both of us. I tried my best to speak to iris in controlled anger, “Let’s go”
She continued to be stubborn and shook her head in refusal. I didn’t know what was going on between her and the dark-haired wolf but from her actions, I knew she cared about him. I looked her in the eyes and spoke slow enough for them to hear, “You DO NOT want Daniel to get here before we leave. He will destroy this pack and I will kill the man you are currently attached to.”
Before she could respond, a blue portal opens in front of the cabin. The wolves all went on high alert as several vampires step through.
Iris’s eyes widened in shock as Daniel stepped through the portal.
“ You have some explaining to do Iris Flanington”
