Chapter 18: First kiss

"You are heavy," grunts Janice.

She makes Dylan sit in the car and slumps breathlessly on the driver's seat, catching her breath. She knows how painful it is. It'll, of course, be more painful when the pain wasn't meant for him. But his expression doesn't seem to be he is regretting his decision. He did protect her there, and now she owes him again.

Janice has experienced the pain but doesn't know how the drug affects a man. Did her uncle make some modifications in the formula?

"What are you doing in the driver's seat?" he asks. He notices Janice feeling guilty for him, so he adds, "I'm fine." Though he doesn't look like. He forces a smile to assure her.

"Getting us home," Janice replies. She doesn't feel satisfied with his smile. He can fake everyone but not her. She is a psychologist. She is well aware of human behaviour.

"Can you drive?" he asks, driving her attention from pain.
