Am I now a devil?

Adorable?

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at the innocent beauty in front of me. The only reason why I didn't roll my eyes at her was my fear of making her cry. I don't think I can stand the tears of this wonderful baby girl *mentally slaps myself.*

What's wrong with me?

"You already know I'm Bel?" She asked.

She might not have said anything else besides the question, but the tone she made use of suggested she was hoping to get something in return.

"Bel? Your name is cute."

"Really!" She squealed some more, "I need to go tell Cam. She'll love to meet you!" Squealing, she ran back to wherever she might have materialized from.

"Another one?" I facepalm.

One Bel is a handful, talk more of when another one joins the game. This one will likely be worse than Bel.

"They are twins." The devil said with a shrug as if his words helped.

"Thanks, your words helped," I said as sadistically as I can while rolling my eyes at him to tell him what I think of his words.

"You are welcome." He said as he started walking to the same door with the winking statue.

"I wasn't thanking you for real. I was been sarcastic." Running to him, I tightly held on to his clothes as he walked.

"I choose the words I want to answer to." He answered.

The door immediately opened the moment we came close to it, and I strained my eyes to check the reason for that.

"Who opened the door?" I ask at last. I initially thought someone from the inside opened the door, but right now, I don't see anyone at all. It's as if the person opened the door, and ran away after that.

But that's not possible.

As the king of the kingdom, there's no way for a guard not to bow to him when he passes.

"It opens on its own when it recognizes the person at the door."

"I see." I nod my head, but deep down, I'm not convinced about anything in this kingdom.

Ever since I came here, I've been having a rollercoaster type of adventure, and not to talk of meeting the overhyped female.

With the devil in the front, and poor me tightly holding on to his clothes— this I did to prevent the winking animal from swooping down from there— we walked into the place.

At first, it was dark, until the devil snapped his fingers. The entire place became awash with light. The empty burner got lighted with his power.

"Wow." I look around in awe, "This is astonishing."

The hall we are currently in is empty and devoid of anything aside from the burners on the wall.

The only thing wow-worthy is how the devil got the entire place lighted with just a flick of his fingers.

"That was superb!" I flicked my fingers just like he did. But instead of the light staying on, everywhere became dark.

"Gods! What was that?" I look around in alarm, as I thought about the possibility the devil might make use of the dark now to harm me.

Was this his plan all along?

Get him into a dark place, and do away with him?

As sudden as the place got enveloped in darkness, the devil lighted the burned once more.

"You still have my power in you."

"You mean—" I trail off, as I frantically shook my head in denial. No, this can't be the truth.

There's no way I can be able to do that.

"That's what I meant. My powers are still in you, and will forever be there."

"And why's that?" I raised a brow at him. I touched my body to check if I feel different, but I felt nothing.

No new emotions, at all.

I felt like how I've always been.

"I can't take it back. I've tried to take it back, but my powers have refused to return. Currently, it's interwoven with your veins. It can never be removed."

"I'm now a devil?" I take a step back from him," I'm a devil?" I frantically shook my head. "No, this can't be true."

There's no way I can be a devil. "Take back your powers, I don't need them. I love my status as a human, I can't. No, take it away!"

"Calm down Human, you—"

I took off without warning. Right now, I want to be as far from the devil as I can. I would rather not spend any more time in the company of someone who turned me into a devil.

What next?

Am I going to sprout wings and fly? Am I going to turn to those hideous demons?

I ran out of the palace. Already aware of the fact running straight will only lead me to the river, I took the left route. The only one that can take me straight to a Forest.

"Human!" The devil called after me, but I ignored him.

I need to survive. I can't allow him to turn me into the devil he is. I must protect my humanity. I can't allow him to take that from me.

I must protect it at all costs.

No, I can't allow him to get to me.

With the knowledge, I might have his demon powers in me, I decided to test that logic by urging my feet to run as fast as they can, away from the devil.

And it did, my feet changed into a fast wheel, and before I knew it, I'm already deep into the forest.

"Gods," I pant.

Placing my hand on my chest, I take deep, steady breaths.

What have I gotten myself into?

What crime did I commit in my last world that's affecting my present world?

Not only was I given over to the devil in marriage, but I'm slowly turning into a devil.

I sighed loudly as I checked my smooth arms out.

It won't be long until I finally turn into one of those hideous demons that were fighting in the ring.

I shiver at those thoughts.
