A helping hand

"Are you taking all of them with you?" Sarit sounded surprised.

"Why? Do you want me to split them with you?"

"No, I don't." She returned to the pocket she escaped from. "I'm not yet fully cultivate into my human form. If I do that, then you can share it with me."

Sarit and I packed the animals in such a way it will be easier for me to carry them.

"You don't —"

"Help!" The shriek tore through that air.

I turned my attention to the place I heard the sound from.

"What's happening?" Sarit asked after a few seconds.

"Help!" The female voice called out. And this time around, more female voices accompanied hers.

The shouts and how ear-splitting it was, caused me to throw the animals I was in the process of carrying on my shoulder, onto the floor.

Without wasting a beat, I rushed towards the place where I heard the sound.

"What if this is a form of trap?" Sarit asked as I rushed to save them.
