Barriers in between- I

Leah still pretended to be asleep and she had done that ever since she had the door open and Jones tried to wake her up. He had even threatened to call her father if she refused to wake up but had left after that.

Maybe Jones was still standing in the room. He could never be trusted but then again, for how long was she supposed to keep this ruse up? She shifted, turning to the other side and cracked an eye open in the middle of the shift.

She found no one.

Opening her eyes fully, she looked around the room that was empty and then sat up. Jones was not here. No one was.

Her eyes widened for a brief second, and her head snapped towards the side table. She let out a deep breath of relief when she found her phone still incharge. He had not taken it away with him.

Leah scowled. He had not taken it away with him? Had her father allowed her to stay in bed?
