Facing the devil

Ring! Ring!

Yu Xiao Yan tossed and turned trying very much to ignore the sound of her ringing phone but no matter what she did the sound just kept getting into her head plus the caller seemed so persistent in speaking to her. The phone kept ringing like the caller also had a plan to murder her phone.

"what is it?" She said as soon as she picked the call. It's a Saturday and she had plans of sleeping through this day to wipe away the stress of acting throughout the week but this call is already killing her agenda.

"Hey Beasty are you still asleep?" Shi Zeyi voice rang out from the phone. The frown on Yu Xiao Yan's face grew deeper when she heard his voice. So it was this clown disturbing her sleep. She hadn't even checked when she picked the call.

"Yes and you are disturbing my sleep with your persistent calling" she complained.

His justified voice came ringing again "That's not my business besides who sleeps by this time of this day"

"if this is why you called me then I'm hanging up"

"wait wait" He hurriedly stopped her from cutting the call. Urgency laced in-between his tone.

"what?!" Yu Xiao Yan queried. She really didn't have the strength and time to be dealing with Shi Zeyi's nonsense.

"I'm on my way to your place, get up and get dressed there's somewhere you need to be" came his reply.

"What nonsense are you spouting? I have nowhere to be today" She explained yawning exhaustedly.

"well I made one for you, so get up and get ready"

Yu Xiao Yan sneered "what does your making plans for me have to do with me? besides who make plans for other people without their consent? Shi Zeyi I don't have time for your nonsense so bye"

"wait!" He exclaimed but she didn't listen to him anymore. She cut the call and threw the phone on the bed.

Her sleep was already disturbed sos eh got out of bed and went to go take her bath. Despite the constantly ringing phone, she paid no attention to it and went about with her actions.

The ringing stopped and a beep sound echoed in the room. Curious to know why the moron was being so persistent she decided to check the text message he had sent.

"You better pick up your call or you will regret it!" His text read. Not surprising, typically Shi Zeyi's way of telling her something urgent.

The phone rang again and she had no choice but to pick it. "Shi Zeyi what do you want?" She queried frustrated.

"Hmph! It's not me okay! It's my cousin he asked me to bring you over." He explained reluctantly.

She became alert after hearing him mention his cousin "Bro Zifeng? Why does he want to see me?"

"How am I supposed to know? all he said was fetch Yu Xiao Yan and that's what's I'm going to do. Stop asking questions and start getting ready" He answered back simply.

"Has he been in a bad mood?" She asked cautiously cause there's no way she would follow Shi Zeyi if Ji Zifeng was really in a bad mood except she had a death wish. Have you ever seen a ghost present itself to the grim reaper?

"Bad mood? what bad mood? pttf there's nothing like that, Bro Zifeng has been exceptionally happy these days so quick get. dressed before he gets a bad mood waiting for you. I'm almost there bye" He hurriedly spoke and cut the call before she even had the chance to reply or ask anymore questions.

Yu Xiao Yan looked at her phone and felt very uneasy. She didn't believe Shi Zeyi for one second, especially when he said Ji Zifeng was in an exceptionally good mood. Has there ever been such a time. Yeah probably at the end of the world, but she didn't have the heart to reject Ji Zifeng's invite or else she would just be planning out her own burial with her own hands. Could she even reject him? If Ji Zifeng wanted her there, then she would end up there one way or the other.

She could only sigh and start getting dressed. This time paying attention to even the little details of her dressing. One wrong details could upset that tyrannical bosses mood and that was the last thing she wanted.

Her phone rang again. She was going to pick the phone and tell at Shi Zeyi but one look at the caller number got every curse word out of her head.

CEO Ye?

Why was this second Asura suddenly calling her too? Did she have an affinity for Grim reapers today?

"hello?" She picked the call with a cautious tone.

"Miss Yan Good morning" The man's dulcet voice rang into her ear drum. If she hadn't heard of his reputation she would have felt dreamy hearing this voice.

"Ce_ Ye Haoran. Is anything the problem?" She was going to call him CEO Ye but was reminded that he had corrected her on that.

"No there is none. Do you have time Miss Yan? I wish to speak to you?" The man said through the phone.

"I'm on my way out but you could speak to me now if you don't mind".

Silence came for a bunch of seconds then he spoke again "actually it's nothing. I was wondering if you could do me a favour?" He asked.

'What was it with this man and asking for favours?' Yu Xiao Yan asked herself.

"Sure! if it's something I can do then I don't have a problem. What is it?"

"it's nothing much but I would be going on a trip and I really am in need of someone to watch over Lingling. I would feel reassured if it was someone like you watching over her. I don't know if you would be able to help me with this?" He asked in a steady tone.

Yu Xiao Yan wasn't all that surprised to hear this. He had mentioned it the other time when they had met but she thought there wouldn't really be any chance for such a thing to happen. Why would it? The Ye family could afford even the whole nanny association to look out for their little heiress, why does it have to be her?

Even though she had her complaints, she didn't dare voice it. so she agreed "um...sure. As long as I'm free"

"That's good. Thank you so much Miss Yan." The man's pleased words rang out again. "I'll send her over when I'm leaving" He said and thanked Yu Xiao Yan once again before ending the call.

Yu Xiao Yan could only sigh. It was just looking after a kid. it couldn't be any trouble now should it?.

With that she continued getting ready to be picked up by Shi Zeyi. For now facing the devil should be her main concern.
