Chapter 10: Anna's Past!

Every day the desire to escape was nothing more like a dream, a ridiculous dream. When she was in her cell she was staring at the door, hoping for someone to open it and rescue her.

Deep down she was hoping, for freedom, a normal life, to make her own decisions. She was hoping ... for a miracle.

But the miracle ... never came to her.

Why no one was coming for her?

Before falling asleep Anna was keeping repeating her name, so as not to forget about it.

She started forgetting things, and her only hope was for that door to open and be rescued.

Anna was waiting and hoping for days, weeks, months, and then years until ... she realized that no one was coming for her, no one was even looking for her she was all alone.

Deep down, she was hoping that the 'Big Boss' was just lying to her.

But he wasn't, for the whole world she was indeed DEAD!

So, the only one who could rescue her was... herself, no one else.

-------

Anna managed to impress everyone in that place.

They knew she was not a genius but a hard-working person, but still, her progress was impressive for everyone, except for Ivan.

She became the best Assassin they've ever trained.

He was the one who took care of her education personally and the one who was observing her like the eagle watching his prey.

But the girl was not his prey, she was his masterpiece, and he was proud of her, like a father would of his daughter, but the daughter has no idea about this.

And that's the way it should stay, it's not like she was going to believe it anyway.

Anna realized that in order to gain her freedom was to have her own manpower, she knew that she couldn't do it alone. So she needed to create her own Assassin guild, but she needed time, people, money, and connections and at the same time be secretly not to be discovered by the 'Big Boss'.

She needed to be patient, meticulous, careful, methodical, and a lot more, but she was determined to achieve that, no matter what it takes and costs.

-------------

Years have passed without even noticing it, that's how Anna felt.

Her memories were kinda fuzzy and unclear. Funny isn't it? How our brain works, in order to protect our mental condition.

But she was still remembering the most important things, there was no way she could forget them.

Anna was interested in psychology, and unexpectedly they let her study it in college. Since she had so many advanced lessons, of course, her education finished much sooner than normal people. She ended up having three specialties in psychology.

Criminal, social, and psychiatric.

Later on, she also took medical lessons too, but it wasn't to cure people from diseases but to assassinate them more accurately or use it as a tortured method, and she loved it, she liked killing and torturing.

That was the only form of freedom she had. She could choose her killing and torturing methods on her own.

It feels good to have the privilege to make a decision and not follow someone's order.

One day she would have that, she will never follow anyone's order, NEVER AGAIN.

She was always wondering how some people do not understand how precious this gift is, freedom, free will, and the right to make a decision and have a choice.

Ah! That's right!

Because they take it for granted. You don't know what you have until you lose it, but something it's too late to gain it back.

--------

But the biggest twist in Anna's life was when she found out that she still had a family. Damn! Unforeseen always came without a warning.

Her cousin, Sylvia. Appeared out of nowhere without a warning.

Apparently, her mother was the little sister of her father who wasn't on good terms with each other. Her aunt had two daughters, Sylvia was older than Anna, and Kate younger than Anna. Just like Anna's parents, her aunt and uncle had the same fate and Sylvia was also taken to be trained as well, but Kate wasn't.

She was still living a normal life, Ivan tried again to take her but Kate was lucky again, or someone else made sure to be lucky. Sylvia was good as Anna and she was keeping Kate safe.

Anna didn't feel anything when she found out about her blood cousin. Was she supposed to feel something because they shared the same blood?

That's not what family is, otherwise why so many blood relatives are not on good terms with each other?

And why do so many people who don't share any blood accept you and love you for who you are?

What a lame excuse to ask for a favor.

However, Sylvia had a very tempting offer for her, Sylvia managed to find the information Anna couldn't.

How convenient, huh?

It was suspicious but Anna didn't want to risk it in case it was true, so she accept to keep Kate safe in return for Sylvia's information. It wasn't easy to do so many things secretly under his nose, but eventually, everything end up fine, somehow.

She has a strange feeling that ... everything was a setup... a script that she was following.

But also she was feeling lately the 'Big Boss' wasn't around as often as he use to be.

The moment she was waiting for finally came. Sylvia was the one who gave her the name 'Ivan' and also the name of Mr. Yamamoto.

So Anna took some of the most caple people she met and went to Japan, and then the incident in Japan happen.

Anna was sure that will be her end, but nothing happened. Why she was still alive? Wasn't Ivan the one who exposed her in Japan? Then who?

Anna was confused but at the same time have to stay low profile to be sure that wasn't a trap.

Soon after she find out that Sylvia was dead. She die when she was in Japan. Maybe that's the reason Ivan didn't kill her.

------

A year later, she make her big move.

Anna killed all the guards there. Later she told Kristy to delete the evidence on her be in the place and to leave as far as possible, she will take care of the rest.

Kristy couldn't believe that they were actually free, after how many years? 16-17 years to gain their freedom. But Kristy didn't want to just go and leave Anna behind, Anna told her that there are other ways to help her in secret.

Kristy took the hint and left.

After an hour, Anna made a phone call to the authorities about the place being full of shallow graves and she end the phone call without waiting for a response.

Soon after the authorities came to the place, and they discover the shallow graves of the kids who Anna killed as a final test to prove that she was the best Assassin.

Anna didn't leave the place, she stay there, and waited until the authorities came. She was scary calm and composed, almost like she looked bored.

Anna cooperated with the authorities willingly and told them everything she knew.

Since it was a big and complicated case of course the government agencies have to get involved too.

To be honest, she doesn't remember how many hours were interrogating her, but she didn't lose her temper at all. The agents were surprised by her attitude, no matter how many times they asked the same thing or used a different method of interrogation, Anna was repeating the same words with the same attitude.

It was crystal clear that Anna had a special training.

She wasn't surprised when things escalated with the involvement of the government and media. It was like nothing could take her by surprise like she is always expecting the worst-case scenario.

At that time she was like she was on autopilot mode, she was there but not really there. It was like she didn't care at all even if they gave her the death penalty.

What kinda a person is not afraid of death?

Was she really FEARLESS? Or Indifferent?

Did she really want to die? Is that why she didn't leave when she called the authorities?

- Don't you afraid of death? Do you want to die? Is this some kind of suicide? (AGENT)

- We should face our fears Agent, not ignore them. Besides no one can beat death, it's part of our lives. (ANNA)

- Don't you know how bad the media make you look? We can't keep your identity secret forever. The witness protection progress will need solid proof for this Ivan guy, otherwise, it sounds like a fictionary character just to get away with it. Come on girl, it's really a pity to be convicted for something you didn't do. There must be more than you know about the mastermind.

One of the Agents who felt pity for her asked her.

- I never asked for pity. All I ever wanted was justice for my family's death and for what happened to me. So, where were you when I needed rescue? What has your system done for me so far? Nothing! So keep your pity for yourself, you actually need it more than me. (ANNA - CALM)

- "... HA! ... I thought I would be free, but for some reason, I feel like ... I'm still in that small prison cell. I wonder why?" (ANNA)

Anna's case was so severe that her trial came in three months.

Yes, trial.

Anna was considered a dangerous person to society but a very powerful weapon for any government.

Maybe that's why she was not worried at all. She knew that they will not give her the death penalty, they will want to use her as a weapon by imprisoning her once again.

Yes, once again, Anna will have to follow orders... from the government this time.

Probably they will make it look like they sympathize with her case, but that will be their fabrication in order to control her and manipulate her by monitoring her.

- "Haa! I really ... HATE politics." (ANNA)

Just like Anna predicted, The court decided to work as an Agent since she has the training and knows Criminal psychology. She will be a profiler with little action on the field to prevent any 'trigger' of her dark side. Also, the most important condition was of course to be monitoring by a psychologist for the insurance for her not to be a dangerous person at all.

The witness protection program just gives her a last name and background.

They were seeing her and treating her as a monster, that's what she was for the whole world. So, because she wanted to live and was ready to do whatever it took she end up as a monster?

Fear is a powerful weapon!

But, also as the truth, as long as you know how to use it.

She was sure that she will not be accepted because of her skills, many Agents will feel inferior to her and will try to attack her by representing her as a monster and a dangerous criminal who should be in jail or even better, to get the death penalty.

Indeed, that's exactly what happened, no matter how much she try to be accepted and associate with them, the result was the same.

She is not the type who 'begs' for acceptance, she shouldn't even have to because she did nothing wrong, so it's their loss, not hers.

It was frustrating to pay the price for other people's greed and power-hungry, but that doesn't mean she won't give a fight.

So what if she is all alone against the world?

Oh, wait! She is not alone. She has her own assassin guild with the most skillful people in the world.

She gained her freedom once she can do it AGAIN!

She won against the whole world once, she can do it AGAIN!

This time it was her turn to play their game and beat them on her own terms.

Since it was a monster that everyone was seeing her, then she will give them what they want!

----A MONSTER!----
