Chapter 18: Betrayal!

After Emilio and his best friend graduated from university and decided to go to the Greek Islands on vacation in the summer. There were in Zakynthos, it was August, and it was hot like hell.

Emilio had a cute charm when he was young, especially with his chestnut brown hair and the deepest heavy lid with light brown eyes. His chiseled square stubble shaved face, Grecian narrow nose, and medium straight natural lips.

His friend on the other hand was the 'ladies killer' type of guy, he looked like a Hollywood celebrity whom all the women were chasing. He was a tall and muscular guy, with furrowed raised brows, his hair was in medium waves in black. His eyes were deep-set downturned lidded, brown pale-gold, with triangle chiseled beard face, hooked nose, and medium straight natural lips.

His friend was really popular with the ladies and most of the time he ended up being the third wheel, not that he wasn't attracted to the ladies, it's just the ladies who were approaching him, were kind of shallow. Emilio preferred to be alone instead of with these kinds of people, his friend on the other hand was kind of a playboy, so he actually kinda enjoyed the attention.

Emilio couldn't stand it anymore, so he ended up avoiding their gathering and letting his friend enjoy the full attention of the ladies. He preferred to walk on the beach alone at night, it was so quiet and peaceful, until one night he heard sounds of crying and noticed a young woman not far from him.

The woman was wearing simple clothes but they didn't look cheap, she was slightly shorter than him, with a generic body and beige skin tone. She had arched thick-style brows, updo curly messy honey-blond hair, generic gold eyes, diamond face, pointed downturned nose, and small heart lips. That's how I met her, it was Nelly.

I apologized for disturbing her, she looked upset about something, so I didn't want to be noisy, I was a stranger to her anyway.

She told me that she was ok and that I could stay, it was a public area and she didn't have any right to chase me away, I end up laughing at her response.

I apologized and explained that I didn't mean any offense by laughing at her, she laughed again and thanked me that I made her feel a bit better.

How strange, isn't it? A stranger can actually make us feel a bit better?

We started talking for hours, I told her that I was a tourist and that I came with my friend and she told me that she was alone but she wanted to see the Greek Islands since she was Greek and living in Athens but she had never visited the Greek Islands.

She asked me 'isn't strange to live in Greece but never visit the Greek Islands?'

We developed a friendship and started meeting every day, exploring the Island together and talking, for hours, we could talk for hours, but for us, it was like 5 minutes, I wanted this to never end, can we stay like this forever?

Is it selfish? Can I be selfish?

This was the first time I have such a connection with anyone, soon I realized, it was more than friendship, I'd developed feelings for her, but what about her?

If not, would it ruin what we have?

I was scared, really scared of the answer, so I kept my mouth shut.

Until one day she told me that in a couple of days she will go to Cyprus, she wanted to go to the place where Aphrodite was born.

I have to admit I didn't know about the place, she laughed and explained to me that Cyprus is an Island and also there is an urban legend about the lake of Aphrodite was born.

According to the legend, if a young girl washes her face with the water of the lake when she grows up she will be beautiful just like the goddess.

When I heard that she will be leaving Zakynthos in a couple of days I panicked, and I abruptly asked if I can follow her, not as a friend but as a man who is interesting in her.

I was so nervous that I thought that I would have a heart attack at any minute.

Unexpectedly our feelings were mutual, I couldn't believe it, I was the happiest person on earth.

She was the center of my attention, I have forgotten everything and everyone. I knew that my friend would have not even noticed that I was not with him for a full month, he was too busy having fun with girls anyway.

We were together as a couple, but I've also noticed that she had never talked about her family or why she was crying the night I met her.

To be honest, I also didn't care about her past, only about her present, so when she told me that she kinda run away, I wanted to help her, I wanted to give her everything.

Even though she had never told me clearly about her past, I understood some things about her, for example, she was from a rich family and she was well educated and had expensive taste, but she never let me pay anything for her.

Maybe she didn't want to look like a gold digger?

She came back with me to America, we started living together and we were like any other couple, we had silly fights and different preferences but we talked out of it and we had a solution.

The key for a relationship to work is for both of them to work on it with communication, trust, respect, and faithfulness, that's the 50%, and the other 50% is sexual chemistry.

Nelly had her first Halloween and thanksgiving with me since they don't celebrate in Greece and that made me even happier, later we had our first Christmas, our first Valentine's day together, and without realizing it a year had past been together.

Unfortunately, good things don't last forever.

I got a call from my best friend that I had totally forgotten him, and apparently, the case was the same for him too. I was wondering what made him remember me now, after a whole year, but soon I got my answer.

He discovered about my gorgeous Greek girlfriend and he was curious about her and wanted to meet her to be sure that she was good for his friend.

Emilio wasn't an idiot he realized that his best friend wasn't such a good friend as he thought, plus he was known as a man-whore and was nervous about letting him meet his girlfriend, any man would.

He wasn't afraid that Nelly would fall for his friend, he knew that Nelly had a lot of handsome men in her life.

You must have heard of the expression 'handsome like a Greek god', well, Nelly grew up with Greek gods.

Emilio was more interesting to find out about his friend's intentions toward Nelly, so he agreed to meet. The meeting between his friend and girlfriend was just like he expected it to be.

- Hi! I'm Tyron! Tyron Rex.

- Nelly!

- Just Nelly? What about your last name?

- It's a secret. (NELLY -JOKING)

- Oh my... You are not a criminal fugitive or something, right? (TYRON -JOKING)

- Haha...no, I'm not. You don't have to worry about your friend's safety. I just don't like to talk about my family since we are not on good terms, that's all. Besides, the mystery keeps the spark alive, don't you think? (NELLY - JOKING)

- Miss Nelly, you are... very interesting... and charming woman. (TYRON - SMILE)

Yeah! Tyron was fascinated by Nelly, but the feelings weren't mutual about Nelly.

He was really proud of his woman and also he was really enjoying the sight that Tyron couldn't get any girl he wanted, especially his girl.

Nelly really knew how to counter-attack Tyron's flirtatious attempts, that was the proof that Nelly had experiences with men.

Tyron's honey traps didn't work on an experienced woman, she made him look like an amateur. Well, he kinda was actually, Nelly was older than them, but she looked younger.

He had to restrain himself from bursting into laughter.

Emilio had no idea what Tyron really was doing, he thought that he was into a business like him. He could never imagine that his best friend got involved in the criminal world, and more specifically into a gang.

The real reason Tyrone's intention in Nelly wasn't about her beauty, but about her family background.

He wanted to use her for his own benefit, he knew that his friend was ambitious and competitive. But he had never expected to blackmail his own friend's girlfriend.

For some reason, he needed Nelly to become a strong gangster. And eventually, in the future, he succeed to become the second most powerful gangster internationally.

Nelly was fully honest with Emilio about Tyron's blackmail, but neither of them could understand how being Tyron's wife would help him be a strong gangster.

Nelly was suspecting that he might find out about her family background somehow and he was threatening her to notify her family about her location.

Emilio had no idea why Nelly was so terrified about her family finding her, but he was sure that she had just her reason.

He was only sad and frustrated that he couldn't protect the woman he loves, and also, the fact that Nelly wasn't telling him about her family matter. Did he look untrustworthy? Or weak? What's the reason she doesn't tell him?

He still remembers the last time he saw her, it was on her wedding day with his best friend. That psycho wanted him there to watch the woman he loves marry him, but, just like any psycho, just watching wasn't enough.

He also made him his best man at his wedding.

And the cherry on top, he caught his 'friend' with another woman in the ladies' bathroom.

Isn't he really lucky?

Well, apparently, Tyron wasn't the only one who was in the mood to be with someone in the bathroom, Nelly and Emilio shared the last time together, as a goodbye.

Emilio was really frustrated like a beast, he asked Nelly to run together with him after he told her what Tyron had done with another woman, but she said no, he was more frustrated by her answer and asked her why?

She took his hand and put it into her stomach and told him that this was the reason, she wanted to protect the two most important people in her life, him and their unborn child.

She also gave him something that looked like a notebook or diary and told him to read it after a year.

For a whole year, Emilio was miserable without the woman he loves, but he knew that he couldn't protect her, since he didn't know from what or from whom she needed protection.

The year has finally passed and the day that he could read the notebook-diary came.

He took the notebook-diary and opened it, the first thing he read was...

"This Diary Belongs To Tatiana Dragon"

- "Tatiana Dragon?" (EMILIO)
