Worried

"My Prince, his Majesty is in his office" said the guard as he saw that Liam was looking for Alaric, he bowed down to show his respect.

"Please rise" said Liam to the guard, he was getting tiresome of almost everyone bowing down to him every single place he went, it was rather annoying to tell the truth, he was not used to this type of behaviour.

On the battlefield you had no time for pleasantries or to bow.

"Thank you My Prince" said the guard as he rose.

"Where did you say my father was?" asked Liam

"He is in his office my prince" said the guard.

"He has not stepped out of there all day" said the guard as he was the one on duty today and he had stayed put in his place.

"I see" said Liam as he sighed, he had told his father to stop working so hard.

"Thank you" said Liam to the guard.

"You are welcome my Prince, it is an honour to serve you" said the guard.

"The honour is mine" said Liam as he walked away, he had some great news to tell to his Father and also some light scolding to do.

...

"You may enter" said Alaric as he heard a knock on his office door, he looked very immersed in the letter he was reading.

"Father Good evening" said Liam as he walked into the office, he had been gone all day, his official duties were more than he imagined, it seemed that he had returned to work and not peace.

"Ahh Liam my boy" said Alaric as he looked up and smiled.

"Sit, sit" said Alaric as he gestured that Liam sit down.

"Father, I have wonderful news to tell you" said Liam as he looked happy.

"Oh do tell my boy what is it that had made you so excited?" asked Alaric as he smiled, there was nothing more that warmed his heart than seeing his only son happy and cheerful, he was the joy of his laugh.

"I have found out more about my betrothed" said Liam happily.

"Oh really?" asked Alaric as he smile on his face wavered, he still could not shake off the worried feeling he had about this maiden, as if he had heard of her before, but he just could not seem to recollect it at all.

"Yes Father" said Liam with a smile.

"She is the daughter of one of the dukes" said Liam

"What a surprise" said Alaric

"Which one?" he asked

"She is the daughter of Duke Scot" said Liam.

"Duke Scot, Duke Scot" said Alaric as it seemed like he was trying to remember something.

"Ahhh yes the Scots" said Alaric as he looked like he remembered what he was trying to remember.

"The Scots are good people, they have served us since their third Generation" said Alaric.

You could see that he knew almost every family in his Kingdom, or at least the more prominent ones he did.

In his early days of reining, Wyverdale was still a small kingdom and there were just a few families, so he knew almost all of them by name, it was not until Wyverdale began to conquer other kingdoms that their own kingdom started to expand.

With every Kingdom they conquered the more Wyverdale grew, and the more families began to move to Wyverdale.

At his current age now, Alaric had not refamiliarized himself with all the new families in Wyverdale, he only still remembered the eight main Duke Families that were his main supporters.

"Father, I have never met the Scots before" said Liam as he was thinking.

"Oh you did my boy, but that was when you were still a young child" said Alaric as he seemed to be remembering something.

"Well Father, I sent some messengers to the Scot's residence and they came back with a report" said Liam.

"What was their report my son?" asked Alaric

"Duke and Duchess Scot are not in the Kingdom at this moment, the messengers rather found the sister of the duke" said Liam

"I believe her name is Lady Tessa" said Liam.

"Ahh I see" said Alaric

"Yes Father, I make haste because I want to meet with Duke Scot and discuss with him about his daughter's betrothal to me" said Liam

"My son, do you no think that you are going a tad too fast with this?" asked Alaric.

"Father I remember that I said the same thing to you a while ago" said Liam.

"Liam my boy, I am asking you this question out of concern" said Alaric.

"Well father you do not have to worry at all" said Liam

"I am sure of who I want to marry, and it is Lady Diwura Lily Scot" said Liam.

Liam did not know why but he smiled every single time he said her name, it just made his face light up, if only he knew that she was cursing him every few seconds.

"Alright my boy, you know that the only thing I want most in this life is for you to be happy" said Alaric.

"And I will never stand in way of your happiness" he said.

"Thank you Father" said Liam.

"You have always told me that since I was a little boy" he said.

"I tell you because I love you" said Alaric as he smiled and Liam smiled back at him.

"Father, please tell me why you are still in the office at this late hour" said Liam as he looked around.

"Well my boy, I had some very important matters to tend to today" replied Alaric.

"But Father working too hard is not the best for your health" said Liam.

"You have already missed dinner because you have been too carried away in work" said Liam.

"I am sorry my boy, I lost track of time" said Alaric as he smiled, every time he looked at his son, he saw his wife.

In fact Liam even scolded him the same way his wife used to, it made him laugh, she was just like him in every way.

"Well then Father that cannot do" said Liam as he stood up and he walked to where his father was sitting.

"You need to eat" said Liam as he helped his father up.

"You can finish attending to these matters later, I will even assist you" said Liam as he held his father and they began to walk.

"Thank you my boy, what would I do without you?" asked Alaric.

"Well nothing father" said Liam as he laughed and Alaric smiled.
