Act on

"So how did the interrogation go?" asked Luc as he turned to look at Liam.

"How is father?" asked Liam as he did not answer the question Luc asked him and he turned to look a Elihu and Zuph.

"Well he is doing alright, he does not even seem shaken up or concerned at all" said Elihu as he turned to look at Liam.

"Which is very surprising for a man of his age" said Elihu to himself.

"That is good" said Liam as he knew his father was a strong man, he never appeared to be afraid, his father would tell him that back in his day, he had more than many assassination attempts, and that if he was supposed to die through all those, then God would not have kept him for this long.

"His Majesty seemed very jovial, for a man who was almost assassinated" said Zuph.

"That is just how he is" said Liam as he smiled.

"There is never a day that goes by, that he remains sad and in suffering" he said.

"He would rather take a look at the good things rather than the bad." said Liam as he smiled that was one thing that he knew his father was good at doing, and that was his father strove to teach him.

"You are right about that Liam" said Elihu.

"His Majesty even asked why you were making such a fuss, and you asked us to guard his room" said Elihu as he laughed.

"I knew that he would say that" said Liam as he laughed and he shook his head, his father really was stubborn.

"But that is where we differ, he might always look on he good, but that does not mean that you should leave yourself open for the enemy to strike" said Liam.

"In all honesty that it just pure stupidity" said Liam as he laughed, he could understand that his father had grown soft, and he no longer thought of killing or fighting, in fact his father was ready for the grave, but Liam was going to make sure to protect him and keep him safe, until it was his actual time to go.

"Liam I am sure his Majesty should not catch you saying such" said Zechariah as he laughed.

"Oh he can, he is my father after all, I will make sure to reason with him" said Liam as he laughed.

"Sorry for keeping you all waiting" said Mero as he walked into Liam's office, where Liam, Elihu, Zechariah, and Zuph were all together.

"I was caught up with something" said Mero as he sat down next to Elihu.

"That is no problem Mero" said Liam.

"I was actually waiting for you, before I answered Luc's question" said Liam as he turned to look at Mero.

"And which question was that??" asked Mero as he turned to look at Luc.

"The question of how the interrogation went" said Liam.

"That is true, so how did it go?" asked Mero as he looked at Luc.

"Well the interrogation was progressive" said Liam as he stood up from his desk and he moved to sit down next to where Mero and the others were busy sitting.

"What did you uncover?" asked Elihu as he turned to look at Liam.

"Well the guard was just a scapegoat" said Liam.

"He had explained to me that some bandits had approached him some days ago" said Liam.

"Asking him to guide them around the Castle without getting caught, in return for many riches that they promised the guard" said Liam.

"Foolish" said Elihu as he looked disgusted.

"Exactly what the guard said himself" said Liam.

"Was he not aware of the fact that once the bandits completed their mission, they could have as well killed him too" said Zechariah.

"He said that the riches blinded him" said Liam as he scoffed.

"Regardless of that, on the night when he was supposed to alert the bandits, he developed cold feet, which to our relief pushed him to burst and alert us of the threat" said Liam.

"Really to our relief" said Luc as he did not want to imagine what would have had happened if the guard went on with the plan, he was sure that the Kingdom would be in mourning right now.

"Does the guard know who the bandits are??" asked Mero as he turned to look at Liam.

"Well no, the guard said that when he met with the bandits their faces were always covered" said Liam.

"But he could tell that they had an eastern accent from their voices" said Liam.

"Then that means that our suspicions are correct!" said Zuph

"The bandits are from the east" said Zuph

"I knew that they were the only ones wicked enough as to even think of revolting and assassinating the King" said Luc.

"Well what else can we do?? they are harden in heart against us" said Liam as he sighed.

"Mero, how far have you gone with tracking the bandits??" asked Liam as he turned to look at Mero.

"Well I have no trace of them at all, I am sure that they were alerted of the guard's betrayal and they just took off, because I have no information on them at all" said Mero as he looked at Liam.

"Then if that is the case, they are not menial bandits, they were sent here for the sole purpose of trying to assassinate my father" said Liam as he sighed, as if it was not enough of rumors spreading of War breaking out in the north, but the east were also starting to try to rebel now.

"I believe that they are working for the opposition in the east, those who believe that Wyverdale is only trying to enslave them and not liberate them" said Mero as he did not look surprised at all.

"They should look at other Kingdoms are are busy suffering, they should be grateful that they are now a Wyverdale state" said Zuph as he was very annoyed.

"That may be true, but we seem to forget that no one likes slavery" said Liam as he sighed.

"But we are not enslaving them at all" said Zechariah.

"If they cooperate and prove themselves trustworthy, they could eventually become their own centralized state, only under the name of the Kingdom" said Zechariah.

"They do not seem to see it that way, they believe that we are just enslavers" said Liam.

"I consider them all foolish" said Elihu as he spoke up.

"Just what exactly was their plan??" asked Elihu.

"Did they really think that killing the King would actually weaken the Kingdom??" asked Elihu as he scoffed.

"They seemed to forget about you" said Elihu.

"What you say is the truth Elihu" said Liam as he seemed to be thinking, whoever had the idea of killing the King really did not think it through, what exactly was their aim???

Did they want to kill his father out of spite for him, or was it something deeper?? If their aim was to truly weaken the state, then they would have also targeted him too, or did they plan to kill his father and then come back to kill him??? Whatever their plan was, it was foiled now, and there was going to be maximum security in the Castle and the Kingdom in general.

"Anyway, Zuph, I need you to devise a punishment for the guard" said Liam.

"Alright, should it be brutal or mild?" asked Zuph.

"Mild, he did confess, and he admitted to his mistakes, he just needs to be punished a bit, so he can atone for his sins" said Liam, he did not make the rules, that was just how Wyverdale was run.

Wyverdale was built on the phrase that everything you do, shall be done back unto you.

"Alright" said Zuph.

"Five slashes of the whip on his back should be enough" said Zuph as he had already decided on a punishment method.

"Alright then" said Liam as he knew that Zuph was very skilled in punishments.

"Sorry to bother you your highness, but you have a letter" said a guard as he walked into Liam's office.

"That is alright" said Liam as he held out his hand and the guard gave him the letter.

"You may go" said Liam.

"Thank you your highness" said the guard as he bowed and he walked away.

Liam opened the letter, he did not know who it was from, but once he read it, he was left with a smile on his face.

"Why are you smiling like that??" asked Elihu as he was wondering what could have been so amusing to make Liam smile in such a manner.

"Lady Diwura sent me a letter" said Liam as he smiled and Elihu scoffed, while the others laughed.

Wura had sent Liam a letter saying that her Aunt wanted to meet him, and that he should come and have dinner with them.

The way she wrote her letter was very sophisticated and charming, it was then that Liam noticed that she had very nice handwriting, soft and delicate, very opposite to her nature around him.

"It seems that lover boy Liam, is charmed" said Zuph as he laughed.

"Go find yourself your own wife" replied Liam as he laughed and he walked to his desk, he was going to write a letter back to Wura.

"He speaks the truth" said Mero as he laughed while Elihu was the only one in a very, sour, very bitter mood.
