A cake

The space of twenty eight days had passed, the winter was in its prime, it snowed almost every day, and night, life in the Castle was as usual, and Wura had been drowning herself in books and Wyverdale history, it was the same routine every day, she would eat breakfast and dinner with Alaric and Liam, and things were somewhat peaceful, she felt better after she and Liam had discussed their situation thoroughly, she did not feel any obligation towards him, and neither did he feel the same for her.

"My princess, would you like me to pack your hair in a bun?" asked Nora as she looked at Wura's reflection in the dressing table mirror and she smiled, Wura had been complaining about her hair always getting in her face when she did something.

"That is a good idea Nora, yes please do that" said Wura as she smiled and Nora smiled, Wura rarely wore her hair in a bun well because it was a hassle to get all her hair into a bun.

"I hope it will not be too hard for you, because believe me I have tried, but my hand ends up getting tired very quickly" said Wura as she laughed.

"Do not worry my princess, I will be able to do it" said Nora as she smiled and she began to brush Wura's hair first so her hair would not be frizzy.

"I believe you, you are able to do many things that I cannot" said Wura as she laughed and Nora smiled.

"Your hair is very soft my princess" said Nora as she smiled, the truth was that she loved to work with Wura's hair, she found it so soft, and the colour was vibrant and eye catching, her brown curly locks would have to be the first thing you would notice about Wura.

"Yes and yet it is a hassle" said Wura as she laughed as she felt Nora pull on her hair from the front to the back.

"My princess, please tell me if I am pulling too hard" said Nora.

"No it is alright Nora" said Wura as she smiled.

"Alright my princess" said Nora as she smiled and she got a blue ribbon from the dressing table as she held it in her hand.

"Nora…" called Wura.

"Yes my princess?" asked Nora.

"Why are the flags being raised?" asked Wura.

"Is something important happening today?" asked Wura as she had looked out her window earlier and she had seen the Kingdom's flags being raised on each post of the Castle walls, and the Castle was being decorated with colourful ribbons.

"Ahhh well yes my princess" replied Nora as she was focusing on Wura's hair.

"Today is his highness's birthday" said Nora.

"What?? It is his highness's birthday??" asked Wura in shock as she did not know this at all.

"Yes my princess" said Nora as she nodded her head.

"But I did not know this, why did no one tell me??" asked Wura as she could not understand at all, she had eaten breakfast with Liam and Alaric this morning, and yet no one spoke a word about it being Liam's birthday at all, she had just thought that maybe today was a special day in the kingdom, she could not have imagined it was Liam's birthday today at all.

"Well my princess, his highness does not really like to celebrate his birthday, or so I have heard" said Nora.

"Well that is nonsense, your birthday is the best day of the entire year, it is one day that is only for you, and of course you need to celebrate it" said Wura as she smiled, she loved to celebrate birthdays, it was something her mother had taught her, and her father as well, they would always make sure to celebrate her birthday, even if it was just a small gift or gathering, but that was not what mattered, it was the thought that counted, and besides Liam was very nice to her, he did deserve to celebrate his birthday.

"Well I do agree with you my princess" said Nora as she nodded her head, she also thought that birthdays were very important.

"I know… I am going to bake his highness a cake" said Wura as she smiled.

"A cake??" asked Nora in surprise and Wura nodded.

"My princess… can you bake?" asked Nora as she was in doubt, she did not think that Wura could cook.

"Yes of course I can, I simply love to bake and cook" said Wura as she smiled.

"Oh my princess, I did not know" said Nora as It seemed that there was nothing the princess could not do.

"Well then that settles it, I will bake his highness a cake, just as a gesture, because birthdays are simply wonderful" said Wura as she smiled.

"Alright my princess, what kind of cake would you like to bake?" asked Nora.

"Ahh well, a vanilla cake Nora" said Wura as she smiled, she could not remember the last time she had tasted Vanilla, they only bloomed in spring.

"Well my princess, I am sorry to say but we do not have any vanilla in the Castle" said Nora as she finished putting the finishing touches on Wura's hair.

"Well then that is alright, I am sure that I can get some in the market" said Wura as she smiled.

"My princess, you want to go to the market??" asked Nora in surprise.

"Mhmm, of course why not, I used to go to the market all the time" said Wura as she smiled.

"My princess, I do not think that you going to the Market would be a good idea" said Nora as she shook her head.

"My princess, what if I go to the Market for you? Would you allow me to?" asked Nora as the safety of the princess was her main concern, it was easier for her to go out to the market, and not for Wura, she was the princess after all.

"Oh well alright Nora, you can go to the market for me" said Wura as she smiled.

"Thank you my princess" said Nora as she smiled and Wura smiled, she was going to finally have a excuse to bake a cake.

"My princess, I am done putting your hair into a bun" said Nora as she stepped back and Wura looked at herself in the dressing table mirror.

Her hair was all pulled back to a high bun and the blue ribbon was used to hold the bun in place along with some pins, her hair looked messy, but it added a bit of charm to it.

"Thank you Nora, this looks lovely" said Wura as she smiled.

"You are welcome my princess" said Nora as she smiled, she liked that Wura loved her hair.

"My princess, shall I go to the market now?" asked Nora.

"Well yes you may" said Wura as she smiled.

"My princess, would you need anything else except for vanilla?" asked Nora.

"Alright wait, let us go and check the kitchen first" said Wura as she stood up.

"As you wish my princess" said Nora as she nodded her head and she followed after Wura and Nora closed the door behind them as they walked to the kitchen.

"My princess, that looks very good" said Nora as she smiled as the kitchen had been cleared out for she and Wura to bake the cake, but Wura did everything while Nora just stood there and watched in awe, Wura was much more skilled than her in cooking.

"Thank you Nora" said Wura as she smiled at Nora.

"My mother taught me this secret move" said Wura as she smiled.

"She simply just loves apples, so she used to make an apple sauce to go along with her plain cakes" said Wura as she smiled and she used a spoon to taste the apple sauce that she had asked Nora to make as she had wanted to help her.

"That truly is wise my princess" said Nora as she smiled, Wura had used the apple sauce to coat the cake, which made it look more appetizing.

"Do you want to taste?" asked Wura a she smiled.

"Ahh… well no my princess" said Nora as she shook her head.

"Well alright then" said Wura as she rolled up her sleeves.

"My princess, what do you want to do?" asked Nora as she saw Wura roll up her sleeves.

"Well I want to clean up of course, we cannot leave the kitchen like this" said Wura as she smiled.

"Ahh well my princess, let me do that for you" said Nora as she smiled, she could not let Wura clean that would be so strange.

"Oh alright then" said Wura as she smiled.

"And you may give the remaining apple sauce to the rest of the maids" said Wura as she smiled.

"Alright my princess" said Nora as she nodded her head.

"I will go and give his highness the cake" said Wura as she smiled and she carried the cake that was on the plate.

"My princess, can you go to his office alone?" asked Nora.

"Of course I can Nora, I already know my way there" said Wura as she smiled.

"Alright my princess" said Nora as she smiled and Wura walked out of the kitchen with a smile on her face.

Wura smiled as she knocked on the door of Liam's office.

"Enter" came Liam's voice from the other side of the door, and Wura smiled as she opened the door.
