The blood

"Nora, Nora, please help somebody help me!" cried Wura as Nora rushed to her and Darla followed as well, wondering what was making Wura shout so much.

Wura quickly got off the horse as she helped Liam down and she laid him on the ground as she looked at him, he had his eyes closed and he was breathing very slowly, which was making Wura worry.

"My lady, what is wrong?" what happened?" asked Nora as she rushed to Wura's side as she placed Liam's head on her lap.

"It is Liam, I do not know what happened, we were in the forest on our way here, and I felt like we were being followed, so we stopped moving, and Liam and I were speaking and before I knew it, he cried out in pain and he realized that he had been shot by arrows" said Wura as she looked at Nora and she panicked as she spoke quickly in stress and she caught her breath.

"What??" asked Darla in worry as she rushed to Liam.

"Liam, can you hear me? Liam" called Darla as she touched Liam's face and all Liam could do was groan as that made Darla even more worried as Nora was starting to fear.

"He has been like this for a while now, he lost a lot of blood" said Wura as tears were dropping from her eyes, she did not know what to do at all, she did not want to lose Liam, no, not now, not again, she was not going to lose him.

"Did you see who shot the arrows?" asked Darla.

"No, no I did not see anything, it all happened so fast, In a blur, I do not know what to do" said Wura as she cried.

"I can smell poison, he was poisoned, how many times was he shot?" asked Darla as she sniffed.

"About four times, he told me break off the shaft of the arrows, and I did so, but he Is so weak right now" said Wura as she looked at Darla, at this moment she did not even remember that she was still very upset with Darla, all that was on her mind was saving Liam.

"Oh my…" said Darla as she did not know what to do at all, she could hear Liam's heart beating slower and it worried her so much.

"My lady, what do we do?" asked Nora as she looked at Wura.

"I do not know Nora, I do not know, where is Mero? He should know what to do?" asked Wura as she sniffed.

"My lady, he went to go and find you" said Nora as she replied in a panic.

"And where Is Elihu?" asked Wura.

"He went to go look for Mero" said Nora.

"And Zuph? Where is he?" asked Wura.

"My lady, he is yet to arrive" said Nora as Wura started to cry even more, no, things could not stay like this, she could see Liam becoming pale, she could not take this at all, she did not want to lose him, she did not want him to die, and yet there was no one to help them here at all.

"Liam, Liam I beg you, please hold on, I beg you, please, please do not let go, hold on" said Wura as she cried and Liam opened his eyes slowly as he closed them back again.

"You… you need…to… remove the arrow heads" said Liam as he spoke and his voice came out as nothing but a whisper as Wura, Darla and Nora looked at him.

"But how? How do we remove the arrow heads?" asked Wura as she looked around, there was no one in sight at all, no one to help them.

"The spoon of diocles" said Darla as she suddenly remembered something.

"What?" asked Wura as she looked at Darla with her tear filled eyes.

"There is an object that can be used to remove arrow heads from the body, it is called the spoon of diocles, if we can find it, then we can save Liam" said Darla.

"Then… then how do we find it? Where do we find it?" asked Wura as she cried.

"My lady, I will go and ask someone if they have it, I will be right back" said Nora as she wasted no time at all and she ran into the town to find someone who could help them.

"Lay… me… flat on the ground" said Liam once again as Wura sniffed and she nodded her head.

"Okay Liam" said Wura as she gently removed Liam's head from her laps as she placed it on the ground.

"Liam, how do you feel? Should I give you some water?" asked Wura in nothing but worry as she could not bear to see Liam in pain like he was in right now.

"No… I am fine…" said Liam as he replied.

"No, you are not, you are feeling so weak, and you are also very pale" said Darla as Liam kept his eyes closed, when he opened them he felt so dizzy.

"Liam, please stay calm alright, we are going to remove those arrows" said Wura as she sniffed, she could not stop crying.

"I am fine Lily" said Liam as he moved his hand slowly to touch Wura's hand as that made her cry even more, she had never seen him in so much pain, so weak, it broke her heart to see her husband like this.

"My lady, my lady, a man gave me this, is this what you need?" asked Nora as she ran back to them as quickly as she could as she showed Darla the black iron pinchers look alike that were in her hand.

"Yes that is it" said Darla as she took the object from Nora as she turned to Liam.

"What are you going to do?" asked Wura.

"Pull out the arrow heads of course" said Darla as she looked at Wura.

"No, but that would hurt Liam" said Wura.

"This is already hurting him, so do not argue with me" said Darla as he ignored Wura and she removed the cloak that was wrapped around Liam's upper body as Nora frowned at Darla, she still hated her, but now was no time for arguing, they were alone here, and they had to save Liam, no one else was willing to help them.

Wura said nothing at all as she just watched Darla do whatever she wanted to do, as long as it would help Liam get out of this immense pain that he was feeling.

As Darla unwrapped the cloak, she could smell the strong scent of blood as she held her breath, but she could not control herself when she saw the undershirt that Liam was wearing, completely soaked in blood as she quickly got up and she ran to the side as she threw up.

She could not handle blood, not at all, she did not like what she just saw.

"Darla, are you alright?" asked Wura in worry as she looked at Darla and Darla shook her head as she caught her breath, she could not do it, not at all.

"No… I cannot… I cannot pull it out… the blood…" said Darla as she panted and Nora looked at Liam as there was truly a lot of blood.

"But we cannot just leave Liam like this in pain, we do not know when Mero, Elihu and Zuph will return, and he has already lost a lot of blood, we have to help him now" said Wura.

"I cannot do it!" said Darla as she shouted and she turned to look at Wura.

"You can do it yourself if you wish to" said Darla as she shouted.

"Fine, Fine, then, Nora get me the object" said Wura as she looked at Nora and Nora nodded as she took the object from Darla and she handed it to Wura.

Wura held the object in her hand as she looked at it, there was no way that she was just going to sit here and watch her husband bleed to death while she could help him.

Wura took a deep breath as she removed Liam's undershirt and there she saw the wounds directly as Darla walked further away, she felt like throwing up even more.

"Liam… you have to help me… I need your help, what do I do?" asked Wura as Liam weakly opened his eyes and Wura wiped away her tears as she sniffed.

"You… you have to pull out the arrow head, anyway you can" said Liam as he panted.

"But will that not hurt you?" asked Wura in worry.

"Do not worry about me, just get the arrows out" said Liam.

"But you will be in pain" said Wura.

"I will bite on my cloak, just continue on, and do not stop until you have removed all the arrows" said Liam as Wura nodded as she looked at Nora, and Nora quickly tore Liam's cloak into pieces as she gave him his cloak as he opened his mouth and he bit on it.

"Are you ready?" asked Wura as Liam nodded, she was bracing herself more than him.

"If you do no feel comfortable, just tell me, and I will stop okay?" asked Wura as Liam nodded, and Wura took a deep breath as she assured herself that everything would be alright, her hands were so shaky as she took the object, she opened it as she held it to the arrow head, she got a good grip on it as she looked at Liam.

"I am going to pull it out at the count of three alright?" asked Wura as Liam nodded and Wura started to count.

"1...2…3" said Wura as at the count of three she pulled out the arrow head as Liam groaned in pain as he bit on the cloth with all his might and he panted at Wura felt her heart beat even faster when she saw just how big the arrow head was.

Nora quickly helped Wura as she used one of the pieces of cloth she tore to tie around Liam's open flesh so as to stop the bleeding.

"Liam, do you feel alright?" asked Wura as Liam nodded, even though in was in so much pain, but he did not want to tell her that or else he knew that she would stop, but he needed her to pull out all the arrows, it was necessary, that was the only way that he would get relief.

Wura could tell that from Liam's eyes, he wanted her to go on.

"Alright, I will remove the second one" said Wura as Liam nodded and he closed his eyes as Wura got a hold on the second arrow head.

"1…2…3" said Wura as at the count of three, she pulled out the arrow head with all her might as Liam's muffled cries of pain filled her ears as she sighed in relief when she pulled out the arrow head and laid it on the ground as Nora tied a piece of cloth on the exposed flesh.

"Liam, I pulled out the arrow heads in your abdomen, you need to sit up straight for me, so I can remove the ones in your back as well" said Wura as she was not going to make Liam move around too much, so it was not cause excessive bleeding.

Liam nodded as Wura helped him up, and she caused him to lay his head on her shoulder.

"I am almost done okay" said Wura as Liam nodded and she looked at his back, she got a good grip of the arrow head as she pulled it out, she did not see any need to count down, it was only making Liam feel more pain.

Nora quickly applied pressure on the wound that was bleeding out, as Wura wanted to get this over with, she moved to the last and final arrow head, she got a good grip of it as she pulled it out, and Liam groaned in pain as Wura sighed in relief as Nora wrapped the cloth around the bleeding area.

"It is alright Liam, it is alright, all the arrows are out now" said Wura as he dropped the object on the ground and she held Liam's head as he was sweating and panting.

"It Is alright, you will be alright" said Wura as Liam panted and she realized that her hands were filled with blood as she stopped touching Liam's head.

"What happened?" asked Mero and Elihu in a worry as they returned back and they caught sight of Wura, Nora and Darla as they saw Liam on the ground with blood all around him.

"Mero, oh thank the heavens that you are here, Liam was shot by multiple arrow, I managed to remove the arrow heads, but he is still bleeding, I am worried, what do we do?" asked Wura as she looked at Wura.

"Liam can you hear me?" asked Mero as Liam just breathed heavily as his eyes were closed.

"He can, but he is too weak to respond" said Wura as she felt Liam's heart beating slower than usual.

"Elihu, help me carry him, we need to check his wounds" said Mero as Elihu nodded and they both moved to Liam as Wura moved away.

"Gently raise him up" said Mero as Elihu nodded and they made Liam rest on their shoulders.

"You all stay here" said Mero as Wura nodded as they watched Elihu and Mero walk with Liam into the town.

"My lady, your hands are filled with blood" said Nora as Wura looked down at her hands and she sighed, she was praying, hoping that Liam would be alright, she did not know if she would be able to take it if Liam was not alright.

"What is going on here?" asked Malcom as he, Dothan and Zuph got down from their horses.

"Zuph, Zuph, it is Liam, he was shot by arrows, and he is not doing good at all" said Wura as she rushed to Zuph and she started to cry.

"What?" asked Zuph, Malcom and Dothan at the same time with the same panicked expression.

"Yes, Mero and Elihu came to take him right now" said Wura.

"In which direction did they go?" asked Zuph as Wura pointed to the right and Zuph ran in that direction.

"Lily, everything will be okay, Liam will be okay" said Malcom as Wura cried and she nodded, she really hoped that he would.

"My lady, here, wash your hands" said Nora as she poured some water on Wura's hand as she had finally stopped crying and they were all waiting for Mero and Elihu as Zuph had come back to take them to an inn as they were waiting outside.

"They have been in there for too long… what if… what if Liam is not alright, then it would all be my fault, if only I had not said anything, and we did not stop, maybe he would not have gotten shot" said Wura as Nora dried her hands.

"Do not say that my lady, you could have never known that, he will be alright" said Nora as she assured Wura, even though she was worried, but she knew that Wura was even more worried than she could ever be.

"Yes Lily, Nora is right, he will be alright" said Malcom as he smiled.

"Liam is a very strong man, he will be okay" said Dothan as he smiled and nodded as he gave Wura a hug and she hugged him as Darla said nothing at all as in that same moment the door to the room opened as Mero came out with Elihu and Wura quickly rushed to him.

"Mero, Mero, how Is Liam?" asked Wura as she looked at Mero.

"My lady, he is doing well now" said Mero as Wura sighed In relief, and so did everyone else.

"Can I go and see him?" asked Wura.

"No my lady, he is currently asleep, and we should not disturb him" said Mero as Wura sighed.

"We were unable to find a physician in the entire town to help us" said Mero.

"He was bleeding excessively, so I had to stop the bleeding by burning the wounded flesh" said Mero as Wura flinched, she could only imagine what kind of pain Liam had gone through.

"He is in a very delicate state right now, I dressed his wounds, and he should be fine and heal in a matter of days" said Mero.

"Thank you Mero" said Wura as she hugged Mero, if not for him, Liam would not have made it, like he said Liam had been bleeding a lot.

"You too Elihu, thank you all" said Wura as she stopped hugging Mero.

"We are going to have to stay here for the reminder of time that Liam Is still wounded, he cannot move in that state" said Darla as everyone looked at her.

"I was already considering that" said Mero.

"I will go and pay the innkeeper then" said Darla as she walked past everyone who had not spoken to her once.

"My lady, I will go and return this to the man who lent it to me" said Nora as Wura nodded.

"I will go with you" said Zuph as he smiled and Nora nodded.

"Please thank the man for me" said Wura as Nora smiled and she nodded as she and Zuph walked away.

"Are you alright?" asked Mero as he looked at Wura.

"Oh Mero, I am so exhausted" said Wura as she took a deep breath, first she was captured by giants, and she had to escape from, and now her husband was very weak after being shot by strange arrows, her life was really something else.

"Lily, you need to rest" said Dothan as Wura looked at him.

"I know Dothan, and I will, thank you" said Wura as she smiled at him.
