The Unknown

"What is that?"

I mumbled to myself as I stared at the light glow of the stone

Unwillingly I started walking toward it

I felt a familiar feeling radiating from it

As I tried to take another step forward I was hit by striking pain in my injured foot

"Aaaghh!"

'ugh, damn- it seems my foot was in a much more bad shape than I had assumed!'

I grabbed onto the counter for support and hopped towards the shiny green stone

The longer I looked at it, the more ominous it started to feel

But like a moth drawn to a flame, I was enchanted by it as well...

I knelt with the support of the counter and tried to identify the stone

'Is it a gem? A small emerald perhaps? But do emeralds always glow like this? It's also suspicious how it was attached to Fay's forehead when she...'

the thought of her being turned into some sort of unnatural abnormality made my mood miserable

I stopped my train of thought and decided to stay away from it, despite my overflowing curiosity...

'Whatever it is, I have a feeling that I should not touch it, the characters who are too curious in a horror movie always end up being the first ones to die,'

I thought as I tried to get up and flee quickly but...

My luck seems to be as horrible as ever...

The hand that was supporting me slipped! Which made my footing unstable and I fell directly onto the floor!

*THUD*

"Aagh! my leg... shit! it hurts so bad!!"

I tried my best to ignore the pain and immediately reached out my hand, so that I could take the support of the counter in an attempt to try to stand up and leave again...

but what...

"Oh fuck-"

The other hand of mine was directly touching the stone-

"Oh, nononono- "

'This can't be good-'

And almost instantly the light coming from the stone shone twice as much!

The gleaming light was enough to blind my vision

It went on to shine for a couple of seconds before fading away

"What the hell was that!"

as soon as the light cleared out I noticed something was missing...

The stone!

"What!! where did the stone go?!"

It felt like it completely vanished into thin air after the light ceased

I thought I was hallucinating things so I started to look for it!

But after a couple of minutes of frantic searching, I still couldn't find the stone

Not being able to find it was irksome but I chose to give up on the meaningless search and calm down my already weakened state of mind

"Haah...just..where the hell did everyone go!?" I sighed

'Out of everything that has happened to me as of yet this was probably the least bizarre thing'

'I wish to lie down on the floor and pretend as if nothing happened-

"Like hell, I can't do that while sitting right next to a dead body!"

At this point I had little to no courage left, I couldn't even look at the cold and lifeless body of Fay without crying my eyes out

"Just where did it all go wrong...."

I crouched against the counter and draped my face with my hands while I let my thoughts run wild...

'None of this feels real, like all of this is an illusion! I want to wake up from this hellish nightmare, what should I do...!?'

I grit my teeth and grabbed my sweat-drenched hair in frustration

The pain from my broken foot made my will to escape shakier with every stabbing pain...

'It's been long- should I wait here till the sun comes out?'

The kitchen's atmosphere only seemed to darken with every passing second

'No, I can't stay here with..'

I quickly stole a peek at the corpse through the gap between my fingers

While expecting to throw up merely at the sight of it...

But to my surprise, I no longer felt like it...

I guess I got used to it...

I just stared at it with my bloodshot eyes and blamed it for everything that happened to me

*sigh*

There's no point in blaming a dead body after all...

It can't answer you back.

After a couple of seconds, a slight amount of light started to emerge from the corner of the counter...

"Haah!, looks like I'm going crazy..." I snickered

"Oh, so you're here,"

My life flashed before my eyes on hearing that voice

'Did the corpse just talk back? What!'

I immediately put my guard up and crouched further down so that no one can see me

"It's pointless to hide"

"You must come with us,"

Someone said while shining their flashlight at me

"Who the hell?" I said while squinting my eyes

The sight gave me goosebumps, and the sensation of my stomach twisting and turning made my body tremble

"What...in the..."

My voice got stuck in my throat the scene in front of me was just that shocking

how was it even possible?

Three humans were standing and looking at me

"You must come with us"

The middle one said while pointing her finger at me...

Should I laugh in joy?

I have finally found the people I was looking for...

But why...

Why does my gut feeling tell me to run as far away as I can?...

I just stared at them in disbelief

There was a long silence between us as I seemed to have forgotten to form sentences...

"Who...are...?"

Before I could even finish my sentence...one of them moved forward and grabbed me by the shirt

"You. Must. Come."

"What!!!!? What are you doing!! " I screamed while trying to push him away

"What is going on? Leave me the fuck alone!"

I started screaming as loud as I could but it didn't phase him as he started to drag me across the cold floor

I quickly pulled myself out of the shirt and tried to run to the opposite side!

But a broken foot and an exhausted body could barely help me put some distance between them

I accidentally used my injured foot to run and almost instantly I was struck by a stabbing pain

The severe pain caused me to collapse to the ground

*slam!*

"Aaagh! Fuck! *Huff huff* "

The intense pain was too much for me to bear, my breathing became irregular so I kept trying to gasp for air while desperately holding onto what little consciousness I had left...

*huff huff*

At this point, I could feel it in my bones...

I wasn't gonna make it.

I tried to drag myself away but it was a futile attempt as it only took them negligible time to reach where I was...
