Training in Hell with the Devil [7/9]

"When I get my fucking hands on you f*ckers, I'll cripple you from the neck down and eat you alive!"

The voice had a deathly shrill to it, enough to make Junya cringe. Even though they were muffled, It was enough for you to hear the rage from its voice.

"Is that a Mob?"Junya asked at his realization. The voice cut deep into his psyche even forcing him to cover one of his ears. It was a scary thing to face for Junya since he never faced one himself.

"It's a Goblin an Ordinary Mob, In theory, it should be on the same strength as you still. That's disregarding the fact that it can become unstable and become crazed. Even though it is uncommon among some Mobs, but still it happens."

Alice took the time to inform Junya, she could imagine he was quite confused.

"The reason I'm doing this is that you need to experience life or death. Mobs being able to become unstable and unlock the power within them is a testament to their power, but that's not their greatest strength"

"I-It's not?" Junya feared hearing something as they could reincarnate.

"The Mobs Greatest strength is their will to survive. They perfectly represent the words even cornered rabbits bite. If you stop a Mob from breathing, it's blood alone will sustain them alone. Their wounds close faster than humans. They adapt towards the concept of death making them a scary power."

"So what do humans have?"

"We have the same power but stronger. We have adapted many times, even though it's not in the same way as Mobs, To think they attacked us being that strong and we still weren't wiped out, It wasn't fancy but somehow we did it. Blessings were a huge deciding factor as well."

Junya stayed silent and allowed Alice to speak.

"One thing that some Mobs suffer from is lack of a Blessing. While we see it as blessing, it's normal for them. Like a Zombman regrowing Limbs or a Chimera jumping from mountain to mountain. It's simply a part of them, while for us it's called a blessing"

"So where are the Beings who give us blessings."

Alice shrugged, "The government has a few leads but they don't have the budget to pursue it. Since they know that it won't be an immediate threat. There is an unseen Ally for us, there is a lot of restrictions about this information so it makes no sense talking about it.

"If you plan on becoming stronger, you need to be able to fight Mobs, even a little experience is good and will raise your Elo making you stronger. That's how most Mobsters get stronger"

Junya understood what Alice meant. He needed to fight to gain experience through fighting Mobs. It would make him stronger by fighting to gain higher Elo and experience at the same time. He was slightly surprised that she was able to get Mobs behind the wall and wondered if it was some kind of illegal trade across the borders.

Alice look at his unsure expression and could sense some doubt.

"No, I did not get them illegally. Some people have the authority to get their hands on these things. That's how noble families make their heirs stronger, restrain them and make their heirs kill them all.

This is one of the reasons live Mobs are worth one million Rels.

"A million!" Junya shouted out from the price alone.

"Yeah, only noble families have that kind of cash to spend on Live Mobs, stronger ones are worth more," Alice said she was well informed of things relating to Mobs.

She pointed to her container, "That was nine hundred thousand. I got a deal because the Mobsters knew me and they gave me a bundle deal'

'What the hell! Why is she talking like she is any better' Junya felt she was looking down on nobles for spending that much money, instead, she was doing the same.

Alice continued to explain to him the logistics when buying Mobs.

"The noble families normally make restrain the Mobs and make their heirs kill them to gain more Elo. They will repeat this process many times to make themselves stronger. They will stop once they pass a rank because too much Elo could cause Elo poisoning"

Before Junya could even ask, she started explaining.

"Elo poisoning is the disruption of Elo within your body when it has nowhere to go, It will cause your body to reject it and will likely end up killing you."

Junya thought seriously about it but became happy. 'I can kill a Mob and gain more Elo, this is luxury'. He smiled to himself, thanking his good luck for the opportunity. He was seconds away from running to hug Alice and thank her too.

"But today is different. You're going to fight with it to the death"

Alice explained, which wiped the radiant smile off his face, turning into a solemn expression.

"W-What?"

"You heard what I said, It's your opponent and you have to kill it and don't think I'll save you. You'll have to be crippled first or lose an arm before I think about that. Alice looked at him seriously making sure he understood first. Apart from the container, they were the only ones in the room, so it was silent.

"Do you think I can do it?"

"Of course, I would never give you something I don't think you could handle. You think I'm some kind of monster?"

Alice spat. Junya desperately wanted to answer her, but she looked like she wanted to hear his retort.

"No"

"So don't be nervous. Make sure you gain as much experience as possible, without getting too many cuts. I think you should focus on your glaive for a few days and continue to work out. That would put you in a better position"

Alice's advice was sound since he was not looking to be in a serious fight so soon. A few days to prepare would give him confidence going into the fight.

In the following days, Junya trained harder, finally regaining his workaholic mentality. Doing more workouts made him realize his body needed to be pushed to its limits to get stronger. Because of this his already well-formed muscles became a little more detailed on his body.

He switch from his glaive to a naginata to try and find if there were any better weapons he liked. The naginata was the same as the glaive, but the difference was in the blade. It was quicker, but have less destructive power.

There were a lot of decisions to make, with one being if he should dual wield with his spear. This was cut short from Alice limiting him to only one.

Now when Junya trained, he could release a volley of strikes toward the training dummies head slicing it in three different places. He felt good about his performance and Alice nodded as well.

"You think you're ready?"

"I am"
