School [5] Trail

"I'm sorry for my classmate's choice of word Miss Alice. he just meant that it would be beneficial toward the school and the student himself if he participated in the fitness challenge."

Another student walked toward the window. His voice portrayed only elegance when he spoke and represented himself confidently. He held a lot of calmness in his posture which wasn't like the other guards who got caught in their words.

His thick walnut-coloured hair fell into a ponytail, held together by a gold ring. He stood around 6'3, making him taller than Junya. His expression was rather playful but never seemed like a fool.

Alice only looked him up and down with a slight frown on her face, which she later fixed.

Junya wondered if there was some kind of reason for Alice's reaction. Knowing her, and controlling her emotions should not be difficult.

The awkward silence from Alice forced The man to chuckle to play it off, before continuing.

"Uhmm, If you would please, allow the student to participate in this test. It will be beneficial to gauge the strengths of the students this year.

Again, a weird silence ensued, with Alice not acknowledging him.

He lightly gritted his teeth out of frustration and broke a small sweat from the situation deteriorating. The guard who was happy with the situation switched and was finally able to breathe calmly.

They couldn't help being grateful for being pulled out of that situation but were pitiful seeing someone else in their position.

"Miss Alice-" The guard attempted to make a last attempt to speak but stopped when he saw the window being lifted.

_

On the inside, Junya was stuck looking at Alice with a shock for a brief moment, though never allowed him to get a question out.

"It looks like your gonna have to make the rest of the journey yourself," Alice said sinking resting her chin on her hand.

"What's going on?" Junya was still not entirely sure what was happening, some of the conversations before were blurry because he was thinking like other things.

Alice pointed outside the window behind him.

Turning his neck he looked outside to see students standing to the side, in a clearing forming different crowds. Being uninterested in them before, never led him to question their reasons, but understood he needed to be out there, though he wasn't sure for what reason.

Thinking this, he asked Alice.

After some thought, she finally answered.

"Since a few years now, there has been a fitness test that new students have been put through… I guess that the school likes having information about the student's abilities before the school year starts. It gives them a better understanding of the strengths that you will be starting with.

The exercise spans from this point onward to the school, the main objective is who can reach the school the fastest. This will also be watched by the school personnel to see the different strengths of students."

A tinge of doubt flickered across his face at her explanation. She almost read his mind and quickly corrected him.

"There is nothing that will happen to you, so don't worry. Other professors at the school will be watching as well, you shouldn't have any enemies."

'Not yet at least' She mused mentally.

Alice's face remained the same, though Junya was not convinced.

"Didn't you say that the family that abandoned me will try to get in my way? What if they use this time to try and kill me. Aren't you taking this too lightly?" Junya reminded trying to make her stay true to her word and not let him participate.

Though he brought up valid points, he wasn't really afraid of anything his ex-family might be planning. He was just deathly exhausted and couldn't imagine running all that way, in a race.

"Tch" Alice annoyingly clicked her tongue. She became annoyed by his constant excuses and saw him as lazy that he would run from a simple challenge when it didn't seem like a guarantee that he would win.

Thinking of all the training they went through if he kept a mentality like that would make her work useless. This made Alice angry but tried to suppress most of it.

And seethes through her teeth.

"Get out and participate, now"

"Please, just rethink thi-"

Another word never left Junya's mouth, only a swift kick blew him out of the car onto the concrete.

"If you don't come in the first place, I'll quadruple your trainin- no, we will spar in front of the school."

Alice's last words never came as a statement, they were more of a threat.

The door closed immediately after, then the car left soon after. Leaving a trailing of dust followed by the distant roaring of the engine.

Quickly dusting himself off, he managed to stand up and realized the kick wasn't meant to hurt him, only get him out of the car.

'Goddamit, did she need to make all that commotion? I barely got any rest of those 2 weeks in hell. What the hell does she expect?' He cursed.

'Even worst, everyone is freaking staring at me!' Junya gritted his teeth in embarrassment as his face went through fifty shades of red.

He noticed that his clothes weren't dirty either, but continued doing this to keep himself calm. He walked through the crowd of students who would chuckle while pointing toward him, making a spectacle out of the scene, but the majority never paid him attention, which he welcomed very much.

Through long strides, he put some distance between himself and students who had seen his debacle. Finally finding new surroundings with different students, he finally plopped himself on the ground.

'I felt like I've been hit by an 18-wheeler that's carrying another 18-wheeler that got rear-ended by another 18-wheeler'

While trying to rest as much as possible, he took the time to look over his Elo command.

'I feel like I'm looking at the fridge at night expecting something to appear.'

His progress was good but not sure if it was good enough. He looked around at all the other students looking down at the ground and in the sky, looking slightly dazed out and could tell that they were looking at their Elo commands as well.

It was quite common for people to stare at their Elo command to see which areas they can improve on, this was even recommended because it could inspire others for growth but was a double-edged sword because it would make others feel like strength was always out of reach.

From their faces, Junya could tell that he had gripped some of the students around him.

'This is supposed to be an Elite school, getting down a cat because of this isn't acceptable.' Junya secretly judged the students around him.

'Well I'm not in any position to talk, I seriously doubt I can produce any real results in this test. If I make a fool of myself. I don't know how I can face Alice again'

He wasn't sure of himself in this test, he could feel a hundred different things paining him from his neck to his feet.

'This is not going to end well'
