Sentiment [3/3]

Around a month later, Wenji traveled to the lab with his mom without fail. They normally conducted silly experiments that produced nonlethal explosives and dissect frogs all day.

Elizabeth would take him back to be like nothing happened.

These times felt like a dream for Wenji. He continued sleeping until eventually, his mom would come to wake him up and put the decoys in place for them to sneak to the lab. Frightened by a bad dream, Wenji was forced to stand and quickly and felt something wrong.

The weird pressure that he felt waking up made him think a meteor was barrelling towards the earth. He managed to wake his legs enough to walk outside.

His face changed when he saw no one was outside and the atmosphere grew increasingly eerie.

"Hello! Mom!" Wenji became increasingly frightened as they walked further. once he existed the corridor he was by the courtyard and located the origin of that ominous feeling. It was in the main building.

His curiosity stopped his legs from giving way on his way to the building. As he entered, the door made an audible clunk!

Still, inside no one looked, they were all focused on the two figures in the corridor. One was entering Blackwell territory while the other person blocking them was his mother Elizabeth.

Even though the area lacked a ceiling, the dark clouds encompassed the sky and swirled tumultuously at the conflicting aura of the two.

Wenji's mother lost all look of humanity and care. Her glare even struck Wenji's mind. Her hair flowed erratically in the air as pressure rose from the ground, and her hands were tensed to the extreme, curling her fingers like claws.

her blood pumped madly, showing some of her veins under her skin.

While the appearance of his mother was scary, his neck creaked like an old door looking at the creature in front of her.

Its size is almost double that of his mother's, standing at 8'5 with rigid dark blue skin covered by pristine black scales that covered most of its body. His stature was straight as a pole and looked down through his pitch-black beady eyes down toward Elizabeth.

A more notable feature of the creature was its slender physique. Rather than having building muscles, his dangly arm hung firmly from his torso and extended past its waste. Its expression was blank, not showing the slightest of worry about the immense hospitality and bloodlust exuded by Elizabeth.

The two stood off while others only looked in terror. While they wondered what an Immortal was doing in the territory of humans and its purpose o

"My presence hasn't graced you all just for just starting a fight. I could have done that miles away." His lips barely moved, and still, his hoarse sandpaper-like voice was audible.

"If you want something try and take it, I just need the slightest reason to fucking kill you." Elizabeth scowled.

"I was the only one that came, precisely because we didn't want to start a fight." The Immortal ignored her threat. "You must know why I am here, so why keep acting like this"

"It doesn't matter what you're here for, your either dying here or running like the fucking bitch you are."

"Hm, hm... I must say what the others said about you was correct. Not even the most brainless mobs would say something so strange to an undying king like myself. It's really interesting." His stoic face turned into a frown.

"If you play dumb I might have to massacre everyone here. Don't think intimidating words can shift the resolve of this king. Even if you gathered a hundred more of your strongest, you can't escape a mass genocide, Elizabeth should know this very well, wouldn't you...

Since you killed my brother."

The silence was deafening, some people passed out the realizing implications that it had.

"I simply came to repay the favor, from what I can tell, that stupid-looking one is yours..." The Immortals long finger with blackened nails locked onto Wenji himself, this sudden attention made him lose control of his bladder.

"Ha, humans are a funny set, they pee when they are scared. Such an impractical-"

Elizabeth's bloodlust heightened, and her physique started to tremble, her muscles grew to an absurd degree and they started bulging and tightening before repeating and becoming even stronger.

"Fine, from now on he'll eat his cereal from your skull since you insist on playing games!"

Crash! Crash!

Her aura spiked, pushing away the wind from around her and cracking the ground below her like It was glass. Thunder became restless and lighting started to flee as the atmosphere became even more dreadful.

"Rethink" The immortal formed a small ball of viscous murky black blood that ripped as his finger drummer on its surface. It was the size of a tennis ball, except infinitely deadlier.

In one-tenth of a second, a spike jutted out from the bloody ball. Not everyone could tell however it was pointed at all the civilians in the nearby area. Nearby being the closest hundreds of miles, meaning millions of people will die, dampening the human population even further.

After a second of thinking, she relaxed her aura and bloodlust, bringing back the color in many faces.

"The stale air that you breathe touching my skin is starting to itch me. An eye for an eye Elizabeth. This king demands the right to behead your kin-"

She couldn't hold herself back, a sonic boom erupted, and the next instant you could see Elizabeth's supersonic punch land in the immortal's palm. A few more booms erupted turning the ground below them into a crater and sending the structures around them into rubble.

A hand rested on Wenji's shoulder, It was his father Mark Blackwell. He was a rather slim man and never had much of any physique to him. he was someone that saw rules and laws as a necessity and upheld them diligently.

He was always tidy, mostly wearing a jacket and a black tie, with mostly calm expressions. However, his face portrayed something different.

His eyes had circles around them, exposing his sleep depravity. Veins ran through his head as he started fiercely at his wife who was in a hand-to-hand struggle with the immortal.

His heart was telling him to jump into the fray and get her out safely, but that much was hardly possible.

Wenji's body and mind flickered and second, later he has transported a few hundred meters away, which was the closest anyone could watch without being overpowered.

The struggle lasted minutes, it was a test of strength for gauging one another. Soon after Elizabeth sighed and stopped.

"You are pretty smart coming when we are developing an understanding for blessing and recouping our numbers" She finally said, recognizing that it was impossible for her to win with such a dense collection of humans around.

The Blackwell land was the closest to the town because this allowed them to be closest to all other hospitals.

"I'll admit that your little infiltration stunt caught me off guard, I thought I had more time. However..."'

Elizabeth made an astonishing gesture to the immortal which made everyone gasp, with incredulity ridden on their expression. Some wondered if it was her accepting defeat spelling doom for millions of people.

Her head was at the height of her knees and her hair flowed over her head.

"What you asked for is impossible. I cannot hand over my son to you under any circumstances. Even If you kill me and step over my dead body, then you would have to extinguish my soul and raze everything to the ground before you could get the chance...

Furthermore, his life and the life of all other millions of people nearby should not have their lives ruined because of crimes that I have committed. Therefore, I offer myself in exchange for the life of my son and everyone else nearby."

The wind finally had the courage to resumed blowing, carrying the silence through all of Guram. The Immortal stood motionlessly looking down at Elizabeth before it broke into a rare smile.

"Gegege, very well, that's plenty compensation for the loss of our kin."

"Thank you very much." Elizabeth in herself felt relief. "Give me a second to say goodbye..."

The Immortal never answered, still Elizabeth dared to turn her back toward him and moved forward in her son's direction.

"Wenji!"Elizabeth said in a cheerful voice, knowing that he must have been scared. She stretched her arms past her husband and opened them for Wenji.

"Mom, that thing..."

"Stop worrying about nonsense and give your mom a hug." She dragged him in by the hand, into her bosom for a bear-like hug.

Their hug lasted for minutes as they enjoyed the silence.

"Mom, your staying right?"

The simple question chipped at the facade of Elizabeth. Making her shed a few tears through her smile, she tried to turn her sobs into laughter, but they only came faster.

"I'm sorry that I won't be there when you're growing up Wenji, I really am, I thought we had more time but eventually everyone's sins will catch up with them in some way. It's simply my time..."

"No! No! No! I, It's not funny! W, why do you have to go, why isn't everyone else willing to put their life on the line. Do they really expect you to lay your life down for everyone, it's unfair." Wenji wailed through falling tears.

His screams pierced the hearts of other theocrats from afar, ridding them of guilt.

"That's enough Wenji, don't put this on them. It's my choice, so I should be the one to bear the burden. Your a smart boy, in the future you will be someone that everyone can depend on, even more so than me...

I know you can do anything you put your mind to so be strong. Don't hold any resentment toward the others for not doing anything. You should try to understand their thoughts as well, I'm sure they aren't happy this is happening either."

"Please, are you really going to leave me..."

Wenji had no one else apart from his mother, it meant he would be lonely making a day seem like an eternity.

"It will be long but not forever. Find friends who can see your true worth, and find a reason to keep moving forward. Everyone has a place in this world, find yourself and do the best you can do. If you promise to do that, I will be happy"

Elizabeth held Wenji's head close to her lips and whispered at a volume no one but he could hear.

"I know those looks in your eyes Wenji, I can tell you're angry and want revenge but don't force yourself. I don't need your revenge. However, if these guys decide to come back here, if you manage to complete my research then I'm sure you can figure out how to kill them"

Elizabeth quickly finished trying to make her whisper unnoticeable.

"Please be strong... Be strong for me" Elizabeth choke on her just as much as Wenji did. his little fist were clenched and trembled in place, angry as it was worthlessness.

Elizabeth looked at Mark, her husband, and gave him a smile. "I guess you were right. My recklessness really caught up with me. Still, it's hard to say I regret much."

His heart twisted in guilt, cursing his idiocy and weakness. At that moment he wish he supported his wife more.

"Don't feel guilty, try to be strong for Wenji, he's going to need someone by his side tonight. He likes camping under his sheets, so you can try and form some kind of bond with him." He rested a kiss on his cheek.

"I don't blame you for anything"

Mark was unable to say anything, as well as hold back his tears.

Elizabeth walked back toward the Immortal whose face was blank.

"I'm read-"

Black murky blood shot out from the immortal feet spanning 20 meters from where he stood. The blood was like quicksand and swallowed everything it touched.

It latched onto Elizabeth's legs, with more lines of blood binding her hands, which began pulling her down into the dark murky pool. It never took long for her head to become submerged.

The moment was filled with silence and sorrow. The Immortal took a last look at everyone and looked into the sky.

"It was a good haul. I hope to see you all again." He snickered before slipping into the pool of blood as well.
