The Assassination (Two)

The bodyguards were moving their asses to protect her. They all ran in her direction. And with a thought that the droid had succeeded in pulling her, she saw Mike and Anthony grabbing the droid's arms, preventing it from reaching her.

"Where do you think you are going? Motherf**ker?" Anthony hissed at the droid.

With force, the two head bodyguards, Mike and Anthony, used their strength to pull the droid, causing the arms to detach from the body and hit its head with heavy punches. Soon, the core and head exploded.

"They're fast!"

Meanwhile, the other bodyguards struggled to fight the new type, trying to match the speed of the droids.

Witnessing her men having difficulties holding up the droids, she made such a request.

"Flora, is it possible for you to do something?"

Instantly, Flora scanned her storage. After finding useful weapons, she reported,

[I am browsing my resources, Miss. I could send plasma handguns. It will arrive shortly. Back up is launched.]

"Great job, Flora! Everyone, handguns are coming!"

Soon, an automobile arrived and parked near Violet. The two doors opened, and different plasma handguns, long and short pistols, and rifles came into view.

"This is cool! Boss Allen is the best!"

Violet raised a brow, listening to her bodyguard slipping out his tongue, muttering nonsense.

The bodyguard soon realized that he should spill nothing. He immediately shut his mouth and focused on fighting back at the droids after picking up a plasma rifle.

"I told you. He is really madly in love with you." Teasing her is the first thing Victor did when he reached her side.

Violet glared at him and rolled her eyes as she snapped. "Shut up. Just prove to me that your ass can protect me."

Victor grinned and walked past her to get some weapon for himself he could use for combat.

Violet knitted her eyebrows, staring at Victor's back. She was in disbelief that it was not just her bodyguards who had the leisure time to gossip about her not-so-called-love-life when they were in the middle of combat, but also Victor.

'Jeez…' she was suddenly frustrated, but Violet calmed down. She was more concerned about her guest's safety than hers.

[Miss, please stay close to the automobile. I'll activate the shield.]

"Alright. Thank you, Flora."

[Small thing, Miss Violet...]

[Arch Shields activated.]

Violet leaned on the vehicle and watched Victor choose a weapon.

"Let's go!"

After choosing their handguns, soon her bodyguards were fighting the droids valiantly. However, the droids were also persistent. It took a while before they brought them down, one by one.

"Victor!" Violet was frightened when a droid appeared suddenly close to the guy and started hitting him on his abdomen.

Victor quickly held his ground and fought back. But Victor didn't allow the droid to hit him again. He lifted his leg and booted the droid on the knee.

The droid wobbled, but it quickly regained its stance and began attacking Victor, using its expanded arm after transforming into a blade.

Effortless, Victor dodges the attack. He stepped backward to leap and kicked the droid's head when he saw an opening.

The droid took steps backward. Victor took the opportunity to shut it down, using his arm with a biomass weapon. Then, he took a step forward, throwing punches and kicking the droid every chance.

Still, the droid does not want to lose either. It keeps punching back.

"Aaah!" Victor jumped on the droid when finally he managed to take it down. The droid was lying on its back; he rode above it. "Hah!"

Victor punched the droid endlessly on its chest, where the core was located. When it came into view, Victor grabbed the core system and pulled it out. With what he did, the droid's power went out and died down.

He was panting, chasing for air.

"Victor!"

He heard a scream from Violet's lungs. Then another droid appeared before him. Victor recovered from the shock and dodged its attempt to give him a heavy blow on the face.

The good thing is that he had an excellent reflexes. His body subconsciously leaned on his right side, bending his back to avoid the attack altogether.

But the droid did not give up. It turned around and maneuvered to hit him with the blade attached to its arm.

Then something happened.

Victor's eyes widened when Violet suddenly passed him, holding Mike's electric shock spear in her hand.

"Violet! Be careful!"

It was never in his wildest dream that he would be saved by none other than Violet.

He watched as Violet shoved the sharp end of the electric shock sphere at the droid. Then, Violet swung her body, lifted her right foot, and thrust the weapon deep into the droid's core.

None of them see it coming that their Miss can defeat one droid alone.

Victor quickly got up from the ground and patted his bottom clean, staring at Violet with amazement. He was impressed by the way she moved.

"Do you really need a bodyguard?" He queried as he approached her.

Violet seemed in a trance as she peered down at the dead droid, ignoring his presence. Victor overlooked the fact that Violet didn't pay attention. He still fires his thoughts away by sounding like he's joking.

"How embarrassing that you actually saved my ass rather than the other way around," said Victor with a crisp laugh. But Violet only answered him with indifference.

"I am long dead if I haven't had bodyguards. If you didn't arrive earlier, I would certainly be badly hurt." She kicked the droid as she muttered that. Like she is venting her hidden anger on it. "I wonder who wants me dead."

Victor did not retort. He didn't know what to say either. There is a possibility that Violet's enemies sent these droids to assassinate her. But they had no evidence yet, so they can't point out someone.

Feeling that Victor didn't want to comment, Violet went on.

"What would they achieve if I'm dead? Would they be granted permission to build a city next to Remy Town?

Would the local government allow them to destroy the mountain to build shortcut routes?"

Violet waited for anyone's opinion, but none of them spoke up. She was disappointed that they were only listening to her rants. Actually, there are times when she wishes for them to give her some good words, as she would even welcome some scolding. However, none of them shared their thoughts or gave her a piece of their mind.

'Huh! They were doing their work excellently and ensured not talking back at me and never speaking up when I didn't permit them.' Violet sighed helplessly as she made a sad realization.

Her bodyguards would only remain silent as they were too cautious not to provoke her, or else they would lose their job instantly.

Of course, she didn't like her bodyguards and staff disrespecting her. What she wanted was to hear others' perspectives to weigh things better.

But among everyone else, someone who she didn't want to speak to her was the persistent one.

Allen is the only one who had the guts to provoke her every chance he had.

"I don't think my relatives would wish me dead," Violet muttered after a long-dead silence, watching the robotic workers hauling the droids' bodies.

She added, "I won't inherit any of our trillion-dollar assets. All I have in my name is everything here in Remy Town. So my first suspects are those companies I rejected their proposals."

Having this suspicion, Violet ordered one of her bodyguards. "Mike, please investigate this matter."

"Right away, Miss."

What is so wrong if she wants to preserve a small part of the Earth?

Yes, she wanted to protect this town from the world of the complete mess caused by modern cities. Conserving the Remy Town rainforest is a small act she could do for the world.

How come that some people expect her to support their greedy interests? That caused her brow to curl up. It seemed like someone wanted to measure her calmness and kindness.

"Hey! Tell me, you know some martial arts, do you?"

Violet's train of thought was interrupted by Victor's question. Violet coughed and averted her gaze. She replied, "I did ballet, so I know how to use my feet."

Victor actually did not buy that. The way Violet moves earlier shows how it was not the first time she had done that. But since Violet did not want to talk about it, Victor did not force Violet to feed his curiosity.

"Your bruises should tend right away. Follow me back home." Violet told Victor before she got inside the waiting automobile. Then she moved her attention to her bodyguards to give them some instructions. "Anthony, please guard the walls while Flora assists the robot workers in rebuilding the wall. Mike, please help gather the evacuees and settle them into the forest."

"Copy, Miss!" They respond at once and salute her.

Violet nodded as she was satisfied with their performance this evening. She then showed her gratitude with a smile. "Thank you, everyone. You did a great job."

They were actually helpful today. After witnessing how they fought to protect her, guilt struck her chest for planning to replace them. Thus, Violet came to an idea.

'I should give them some bonus and vacation.'
