Alita and Axel walked in silence, each engrossed with their own thoughts. One enjoying the beautiful scenery, the other enjoying the unexpected company.
Axel held her hand firmly, purposely refusing to let go. Though it seemed as if he was looking ahead as they advanced, his attention was on her all through. He noticed with great gratification how her curious gaze fell on everything as they moved even though she neither said nor asked anything.
His earlier anger was no where to be found, gone with the wind. She was like a drug, the only type of drug that could cause him intense pain and at the same time, cure it.
The entire components of his very being yearn for her, to have her to himself completely and never ever let go. But she didn't grow up with vampires. She lived and advanced in age among humans, so he would have to slow down his advances to match her pace.
