Asher opened his eyes only for absolute darkness to greet his sight. Not because it was night, as his vision would still function perfectly at night, but because of the bulky and dark material tied around his eyes.
He could still feel a dull ache on his neck, the exact spot where the strange object had pieced his skin. It was still unfathomable to him how that had happened.
The only explanation would be that the object flew without sound because, he would have known something was flying towards his direction, no matter how fast it was, if it made even the slightest sound.
And until now, he didn't know of anything that could fly without sound. It seemed the people who designed it, made it especially to capture vampires.
Though he was awake, he made no movement so as not to attract the attention of the owners of the voices he could hear around him. Listening carefully, he couldn't recognize any of them. It seemed he was amidst strangers.
