"I still don't understand why you're trying to avoid it. It's unavoidable, Asher. Unless you want to give up your position as the prince." Marcel commented, then let out a silent sigh and shook his head. 

They just finished completing the other official duties Axel had refused to pay attention to, with the excuse of checking on his wife. 

Since they couldn't risk stopping him again, else he lash out and pour his frustrations on the poor officials, who knew nothing of his woes, they let him be. What he needed to do was something they could do anyway, so it was better they avoided his troubles. 

But apart from Axel's troubles, Asher's reluctance to take up a position of leadership was another source of concern to Marcel. Asher had it in him, but he just didn't want to do it. No matter how beautiful he paints it, and the benefits he listed, Asher just wasn't interested.
