Chapter 23 - 'Reset'

Just a day inside the game, so not even a day in real life. The brats faction which had winning edge, lost its point after assassination of the leaders. The brats..... their death meant loss of face, so the fight against evil PK players increased, that's all. The real losers turned out to be the baby sitters of these brats. They could no longer control the young heirs and there were still a bunch of fools, also recognised as hangovers or sidekicks, whose life ambition seemed to be fight, instigate to fight and fight some more. End result - death, death, death.

So who won in the end? The most unlikely group consisting of Niyam(our MC), Kylie, Royo and Bree.

Two DPS, a tank and a healer. The idea was to stay far away from the kill vibes. So they had started searching for low level monster map in the wide forest region. When Saachi had proposed the idea, these three had refused. They needed consumables and sustenance too. And the shelter.

Consumables could be brought over. Sustenance... there would be water in forest. It's not like one would get disease and die due to drinking unprocessed natural water flowing as stream in forest. If one is still feeling afraid, they could always carry few more jugs of water.

Food- ditto. Unless one is chef and want to increase the level of that skill by cooking in forest.

The barrier was the shelter. That was the reason why others had not tried that method.

Saachi might have forgotten many things of novice village time. But the format was nearly the same for most villages. If the players had reached level 5 and learnt AoE type of spells or skills, the type of quests would have changed. One of them would require killing monsters near the mines. The mines were illegally occupied by the goblin like monsters, so the mining was stopped. The ores left in village was dwindling, thus the quest.

Saachi's idea was to take shelter near mines.

The plan worked too, after few initial hiccups. Granted, they were all fatal hiccups but thankfully, no one died. The healer did not know the skill 'revive'. So dead means dead and reviving back in village.

The mine recovery was unexpectedly speedy. Was there a competition going on without Saachi's knowledge? They did not close the respawn point. So monsters would still come into being and go, just like that.

The pick axes were used round the clock. Two people would be always on duty and other two would turn miners. All got EXP and ores too. And they did not have to worry about high level monsters. It was practically a picnic.

When they were reaching limits of inventory, these brand new miners were worried about the output. The two man shift was decided after multiple trial and error, because mining alone was boring and unfulfilling. They had chosen manual control, which meant mining was done old fashioned way. So an ore could be mined only after proper mining of few minutes. The output was low, so they had not worried about lack of inventory space.

Now....

Saachi had to make a makeshift bundle from monster furs(from the drops) and basic tailoring skill. He made a thick needle from broken arrow. The thread....some horrible things were used. Better not to explain deeply. Suffice is to say few people would have changed their dietary habits in real life for sometime, till the horror had faded from the mind.

So first put ores into inventory and chuck out old ones into bundle. He made three bundles. One for three of them and two for himself. This, inspite of having multiple inventory bags. How much bonus was Saachi getting each time?

Near the village....

PK players were not welcomed within the village. They would be killed or booted out. The premise was that a competent villager caught hold of them and called reinforcement timely. For PK players hell bent on revenge, this much time was enough to kill few players. So now even inside of the village did not feel safe.

It was night. Best time for thieves and bandits. So the brat group had logged out. Out of vision, out of mind. As usual, the underlings would suffer before the leaders.

Ever imagined what would happen if you are killed again and again even after player has fallen to level 1 and doesn't have enough EXP? First , there would be coin or cash penalty, more hefty than normal ones. After few times, in addition to cash, attributes would be used up. At this time, players would wake up and reset the character themselves. For the slow witted, the game would send them to reset point when even attribute points are not enough.

Even as some one who had played the game for so many years, Saachi did not know this. But he learnt of it, thanks to selfless sacrifice of fellow villagers. The massacre had continued throughout the night, the hide and seek was thriller of highest calibre.

These selfless people learnt that their character was reset and sent to new villages. They had logged out and spread the word within their own group. Which meant, all the groups in the faction got affected, even after learning the truth. What a Crabby behaviour, though.

Even PK player groups had such selfless people who reset somewhere else but... these killing mad maniacs had only thoughts of killing, it did not matter where they went. Many logged off, hoping for new start .

Now, here is the question. Would the game care about these players and this village? Would any steps be taken?
