Chapter 35 - Big dreams, big talk

So on one side of the ring is...

Miss Sonja, lawyer extraordinaire and legal shark who never let anyone go after biting.

On other side,

the persona from the future, a boy with sheer will and grit to make big, a man in making who is staking everything on the game, a true gambler at heart yet willing to work hard,

mister... Saachi Varaha.

Who will lose the first round? The time limit is....Two minutes.

Who will win the battles? Who will win the final war?

" I want to know what protection I or my creations will get in and out of game. I want to hold the patent right for them. I want to prosecute every single person who may sell the information inside the game or out in real world. I especially want to persecute those who buy that information and are willing to re- create my work in their name."

" And why should we help you to that extent? And what are you going to create that is worthy of such treatment? A dragon? Seen that, done that."

" I will create a drogon of conglomerate. World's first virtual conglomerate. With life skills as basis, not a support. I will make it so big that even NPCs would happily use the services. "

" Nice words. Big dream. Zero chance of success."

" Did your assistants show my growth curve inside the game? How is it? Am I still within acceptable limits?"

This was one of the trump cards he had. His phenomenal growth inside the game. Was he a genius? One of the kind prodigy? No. He was a man who was staking everything on every second he worked within the game. And the effect showed.

" A college brat whiling away most of the day within the game. How long can you carry on so? Your growth curve will fall flat soon." Sonja's voice did not betray her real thoughts. The actual reason why her division was willing to pander this customer, why the matter was dragged to her was his growth inside the game and his on and off party members.

Let take from periphery. His on and off party members. From the details collected, it was evident that there was some trust between them and they might come to aid this player. All three of them were stage worthy eSports players, though one of them looked like he could not hold anymore. But his varied experience would work as excellent support. The chemistry between the four was visible. They formed a complete team. Such team would be one of the income generators of game in later expansions.

Sonja tapped the growth curve chart. She was not happy with work done by her subordinates. These details may seem much but all they had done was taken the report directly from AI monitoring the game. Where is the inference? Where is the conclusion? Where is the conjuncture?

A fresh, off from printer, paper set was placed quietly. The new recruit. A good seed, she made note of it. Her boyfriend had helped, apparently. Only the charts and curved were present, no identifiable details. Else there was no need to hide these details in the company. Plus point for remembering the non disclosure clause and adhering to it.

The conclusion.....

The conclusion by independent expert who knew nothing of the situation, thus giving unbiased opinion. The conclusion based on which Sonja would decide on how to conclude the matter.

Unexpectedly it was towards the player. His way would be unhindered in town level of gaming.

Town levels were tentatively marked from level 10 to 30 but that mark was for real elites, eSports level players, the curve breakers, thus this limit was acceptable in this case. Even then, time taken cross this chasm was huge. Few years.

Few years of working tirelessly, just like working in real world. Only then, could they even think of going to greener pastures.

The AI had estimated that due to initial boom of guilds and infighting, the levels would drop very fast. That was the sole reason why tier 1 towns were created. With this...the fights would go on for long time. Casual players could spend upto 10 years in a single town and yet find new things and new maps. That is the scope of the game.

The game!

Is it just fun? Is it money making business? 'Escape' wanted to be both. The money portion would be from Consortium and guilds.

And here a player claimed to create a special entity, that too in huge scale, capable of moving even the NPCs in the game.

Sonja was calculating in high speed. The potential earning vs potential hassle.

In the end, that is the bottom line of the game and her department.

Sonja trusted her instincts. So in the end she said, " Done!! All legal support you need in this endeavour will be supplied by us and it will be watertight. In return, you will pay us, twice the fee it costs to engage such high level law firm.

Let's set a time, shall we? If ....in next 6 months, you don't have your dream project up and running, this deal will be considered null and void. You will pay us and the company compensation for entertaining you for those 6 months."

"I agree for the terms. But the payment may or may not be in cash. I might pay in game coins if situation demands it. The conversion rate at that time will apply. I hope it is not big deal for you as you will be getting twice the fee."

"That's fine. We will include that clause in agreement. Let me remind you again that our department will handle only legal work related to your project. You can not expect anything else from us. If it is still okay with you, someone will reach out to you within next hour. A copy of the agreement will be stored with your avatar. within the game too."

-------***-----

Nearly five hours of haggling and threatening ended with a contract. Both sides did not mention NDA, non disclosure agreement. That was understood.

With this contract and agreement letter, Saachi would take his first step to create a dragon among conglomerates.
