Chapter 52 - Dungeons

The game had promised that the dungeons or instances would now be functional. But, the limiting factor was that the players had to find them themselves. Nearly half of the villages found dungeons within half a day. Another round of praise and promotions.

These guilds or clans used up a lot of money to many announcements in game too. This sort of promotions - rare, very rare.

Announcements within village costed least money, within the kingdom - highest. Beyond that, sorry, money is not enough. Guilds had their bottom line too, so their promotions within game were limited to town levels. As far as cities or further as are concerned, will those players give up their towns and rush to their towns? No one was so narssisitic to beleive that.

In spite of finding the dungeons, the first clear did not appear that day. The players who did not have enough levels to enter the dungeons had no idea of horrors within them. So they had no idea why ...not even a single guild put a banner declaring their superiority by being first to clear dungeon.

Saachi was having a heart to heart talk with the village chief. He wanted to borrow the space ring a bit longer. But suddenly the chief was not in mood to rush shoulders with noble personage (Saachi had high reputation points for NPCs /RPN, thus considered a noble at village level). He was so worried that he spilled the beans.

Saachi's eye gleamed with greed. He said he would try to stop dungeon break till the staff arrives from town. He did not know about the difficulty in dungeons, thus did not promise to stop the dungeon break completely.

Village chief was happy though. He was only worried because the Dungeons had opened before their usual time. If they could be suppressed, the teams from town would come on time to stop the mayhem.

Thanks to good favour, Saachi got series of quests, just like that.

The quest log :

Main quest - Prevent dungeon outbreak

Sub quest - Clear dungeon 'Mad rat' : normal mode -100 times, Hard mode - 30 times, Very hard mode - 10 times. Nightmare mode - 1 time.

Or

....

(The following description has been cut off to save some space in the chapter.)

Basically, he could choose which level difficulty he wanted. If he chose higher difficulty ones, he could forego easier ones. End result desired was the mana crystals (yes, just like in those novels involving dungeon outbreaks). And the chief wanted mana crystals from all the dungeons, not just 1 or 2.

Good news - faster the dungeons cleared, more time would be given to finish off the quest.

Right now - time till dungeon outbreak - 100 game days .

Before leaving, he got a bonus too - a rough and crude map showing all the Dungeons. Instances - hah! those were players' headache, villagers did not care about them.

The instances were known as chance encounters and lucky breaks. They may look similar to dungeons but we're in entirely different category. Instances were trial grounds. You win, you gain. You lose, you try again, you show improvement, you gain even though you have not won.

He messaged the trio that he got lead on dungeons..They were still not online. So he could only go into other maps to fill in procurement quests. Just because dungeons opened up did not mean other quests lost the meaning. The chief had not even mentioned the ring, thus Saachi filled consumables which could be used for all sorts of situations and went on.

The effect of dungeons opening could be felt even far away from them. The so called elites, whether belonging to a group or just solo adventures, had rushed towards dungeons. The others...well few tried to be scout groups and died horribly inside, so they were spending time outside dungeons, gossiping and waiting till the low attribute effect post death ended, afterwards....few tried dungeons again, few went to hunt monsters in open.

The dungeons founded till now had multiple entrance, thus no guild had tried monopoly over there. In Saachi's village only 2 dungeons were discovered yet - Mad rats, Cocky cock.

Both were low level dungeons. Monsters would be demonified within the dungeons, thus were more dangerous than normal monsters out in maps. These two could be tried from level 3 to level 8 players. Another restriction was that it was party raid. Meaning minimum 2 members , maximum of 6 members were needed to enter dungeons.

In addition to normal attacks, these demonified creatures were larger in size, showed elite characters, had high HP and MP and more attack options too. Even a moment's neglect would lead to party wipe. As it was basic dungeon, death penalty was same. The only silver lining for those who were trying enter the dungeon.

To pass time, the resurrected players would swap stories, tales of bosses- though most of them were exaggerated and had to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Yes, these dungeons had 3 and 4 bosses. Based on creatures and bosses killed, completion rate ,thus EXP gained was determined. Few groups had better elites. They had fought with second boss of mad rat dungeon. In the second one, it was considered lucky if they survived past 1st boss.(Mad rat - lowest level dungeon, thus low leveled creatures within.)
