Chapter 83: The Validity

Xavier's Point of View:

As I saw her walk out the door, I released the breath I had been holding. It was one thing leaving me to make sure Drew was safe, but it was another thing to… stop loving me.

I got up and closed the door. By that time, I saw a cab leaving my place and I couldn't think more. There was no point in anything, I bid my goodbye to the both of them, signed over Drew's custody and never married Scarlet. Sure, because of that document that was signed ages ago, I still had "rights" on her, but was I really that same monster now? Was I bad enough to use it against her again?

I didn't believe so.

I picked up my phone and made a call.

"Huh? Who—Xavier? Y-You're calling me after two days, Xavier! And you never showed up at my place. You—"

"Calm down, Angelica," I whispered and her voice faded. "I'm sorry. I want you to come over later."

"Why? And why are you calling me so early in the morning?"
