Uncomfortable Silence

Eva couldn't remember much about what happened that night. Maybe it was because she did not want to remember.

Or it could be that the black sky of that night made the whole memory fade into the darkness in the deepest recesses of her mind.

Of course she did remember that Lucas had come back to comfort her, but the guilt of what she had done had already settled in.

It felt like something had grabbed ahold of her heart and was slowly eroding all of her emotions away. To make it worse, this process was painful.

His eyes would forever be ingrained into her mind. It was the most she had ever been to glean what lay beyond his expressionless face.

She had caused the desperation in his voice, and the broken pain that filled eyes. It was all her fault.

Every stolen glance reminded her of the raw pain she caused him. Why did she do that?
