Shelley walked back into Iyare's office, holding many books and documents. Before sitting down, she walked over to Iyare's table and dropped the books she was holding.
"I think Michael and that guy, who just walked out, have something off their sleeve," Shelley said. Iyare raised her brows, waiting for her to clarify her statement.
" I mean, Michael did not have to bring that guy to your office for nothing. There is already a laydown procedure for him to have the guy sign the confidential agreement," Shelley explained. "So why bring him to your office? "Shelley asked a rhetorical question.
Iyare did not know about this procedure, but she was not stupid enough to believe that Charles's son being in her office was a coincidence.
"That guy is Charles Freeman's son," Iyare replied. As expected, Shelley is very competent.
Shelley nodded, understanding what Iyare meant, and immediately stood up. "I think it's time for you to learn the bylaws of your organisation," she said, picking up one of the books she brought in and dropping it in front of Iyare.
"Also, you need to know about all your executives and how long they have worked with the company," she said, dropping another document.
"You need to know how many branches you have," yet another book. She kept naming what Iyare needed to know and dropping a book after it.
"Finally, all the ongoing projects and contracts we are bidding for," Shelley said, walking to the door and pulling it open.
Iyare's jaw dropped when she saw the pile of files her secretary was holding standing by the door. Shelley gestured for the secretary to come in. The secretary entered the office and dropped the files on Iyare's table before excusing herself immediately.
"I was thinking; we hold the staff meeting next Friday. I intend to send the circular to our branches. So that all the unit heads can be in attendance. So we are talking about twelve hours long meeting. Plus, we should definitely hold a celebration dinner on Saturday, after the meeting, to officially introduce you to the world. I will prapare the guset list. We also need to invite the media and every friend of Ona's group," Shelley suggested.
Iyare was still daze with the files and books she needed to read in less than two weeks. "Can't we move the meeting forward?" Iyare asked. Even if she loved reading in her previous life, she did not intend to overwork herself in this lifetime.
Shelly shook her head to mean No. "The sooner you introduce yourself to the world, the better. It would help if you also prepared yourself for the media's question. A lot of people are going to start digging into your personal life. And when they find nothing, they are going to get curious. The media will be well prepared to solve the mystery, so brace yourself up," Shelley said.
"What do you mean find nothing?" Iyare asked. She believes Louis already created a fake background for her, so why would they find nothing.
"I think some on cleared all the information about you. It seems you were born the day you stepped off the plane in Quee city," Shelley answered.
Iyare immediately hides the surprise in her eyes perfectly. She did not want anyone associating her with her mother and family. She has already decided that she will not recognise that woman as her mother. Not in this lifetime. The woman never loved her anyway, so it was best they both did not exist in each other's lives, Iyare concluded.
Iyare let out a sigh looking at the book in front of her. she knew Shelley was right. She needed to put in the effort unless she was willing to lose the company to Charles. Thinking about Charles, she frowns her brows. What trick did he use to get himself out of a possible court case?
"Any news about Charles?" she asked.
"Not yet, but he did not show up at work today," Shelley answered.
Iyare picked up her phone and called Peter.
"How is it going?" she asked immediately after hearing the other side's pick up.
"We are yet to find Justin; he seems to have vanished into thin air after he visited the police station," Peter replied.
Iyare took a deep breath. She did not like the news she was hearing. "What about the police station?" she asked.
Peter informed her that someone had already buried the information about Justin's visit and the evidence. He was getting frustrated about the whole thing already. He loved to deliver results and hated hitting dead ends with little or no cue.
"Find Justin, dead or a life; ensure you find him," Iyare instructed. "Find out what happened in the police station. Who buried the information, and how they are related to Charles," Iyare said and hung the call before Peter replied.
Shelley glanced at her, "if Charles managed to clear the problem you have created for him, then there will be a big problem. He is going to come for your seat. You need to make an acquittance and have some backing. It would help if you had your father's contact," Shelley informed.
"My father's contact, but I was never given..." Iyare Tailed off. She was already trusting too much. She realised that she was opening up too much to Shelley. "Arrange for Friday and Saturday," Iyare instructed. She trusts Shelley but fears making her father's mistake and becoming comfortable.
Shelley notices the switch of emotions in Iyare's eyes. She nodded her head and stepped out of the office. She wanted to make sure Iyare was successful. She had already lost her seat; she did not want to be the right hand of the person who lost their position. That will make her a failure, so she must do her best.
She knew Iyare was having difficulty trusting her, so she decided to prove herself to her. After all, no normal human being will trust easily after finding out that her father's most trusted subordinate and friend is responsible for his death.
'Men will always be greedy,' Shelley thought and sighed. Money and power rule the world. And it seems everyone wanted to be the king and rule. Shelley shook her head; she was done with the game of power. She was tired of scheming. All she wanted to do now was be an assistant and live a low-profile life.
Iyare immediately buried her head in the file before her. She needed to learn and become competent to keep her seat. She could not tell Shelley she did not have her father's contact, whatever that meant. And honestly, she didn't know how to get them.
'Louis' the man's face flashed through her mind. He did ask her to contact him through the book when she needed help. She thought he might be able to tell her about her father's
