Her eyes stared at his light blue eyes, they were a different color from hers, his gaze never left hers making her uncomfortable. Why did it feel like he wanted something from her?
"You're staring too much sir," She reminded him but he never broke his gaze, it was as though he was gauging her with his eyes.
Not comfortable with his gaze on her, she casted her eyes down but it didn't mean she still didn't feel his taunting gaze on her.
She lifted her gaze to meet his eyes, opening her mouth to speak, she closed it back as he beat her to it.
"What did you think you were doing dancing under the rain?" He finally asked her but she shook her head.
"Words." He reminded, she gritted her teeth at the thought that this man was annoying in every way possible.
"I was looking for a cab, and since I didn't find one, I decided to walk home." She answered him, he didn't comment on it and everywhere went silent again.
I'd take that you went looking for a job." He said for her to look up at him, she wanted to nod but she instead chose to speak. Who knew what the man would do to her if she made one mistake.
"Yes, I did go out to look for a job." She confirmed his statement, but he never replied. She could see him staring at her from the corner of her eyes.
Why was he staring? And why ask when he wasn't going to reply. She thought to herself and she heard him speak again. It seemed he took his own sweet time in replying.
"Why are you so desperate to look for a job?" He asked, and she pursed her lips, she didn't like telling things like this to strangers but with this intimidating man, and with her in his car, who knew if he might do away with her for not answering his questions? She still needed to help her mother.
Letting out a low sigh, she opened her mouth to speak. "My mother has been ill for quite some time now, we don't have enough money to help her. This is the only thing I can do to help." She explained, and like before she had expected him to be silent about it, but he spoke.
"Good, I can employ you in my company, that way, you get to treat her without any worries." He offered her but she shook her head.
Arijit didn't know why, but he could sense the potential the girl had from the first time they met. She would do great in the company, but what he didn't know was that the girl had already made up her mind never to take help from the wealthy.
"I refuse your offer sir, we've gone through this at the park today, I'll find a job on my own without any help. I appreciate your offer but I decline." She said to this stranger she just met today but was persistent on taking her as an employee. It looked suspicious enough.
"Well, the offer is still wide open, you can visit the company anytime you're ready." He said for her to look up at him. He sounded confident that she would take up the offer, but it was nowhere happening. She rolled her eyes internally.
She nodded her head at him even though she didn't mean it, after all, she wasn't going to take the offer.
The car had gone back to silent, the car took a right turn to Brewton street. It was her street, did he perhaps have a friend there, but why would the Almighty CEO of the Singh corporation have a friend here, did he perhaps know where she lived? But they had only met today. She asked herself the possible questions in her head.
"Point your house." She heard him ask her and her eyes widened before composing her expression.
"The fifth house at the right." She said in a low voice. Not receiving a response, she turned her gaze away from him, placing both her hands on her laps.
....
Jolting from her thoughts, she found one of Arijit's bodyguard open the door for her, it was time to leave. Finally!! She thought to herself. Not used to the kind of treatment, she smiled nervously at him.
Picking up her file, she stepped out to see they had dropped her in front of her home. She ignored the gazes coming from the other people, and faced the CEO to thank him for the lift. It wasn't bad after all! She thought to herself.
"Thank you." She said to see him nod, turning her back, she walked towards her house, she hadn't taken few steps away that she heard her name being called. She gritted her teeth before putting up a smile.
"You should learn to be careful. You never know who might want to use you for their benefits. Don't trust easily." He said, and with that the windscreen was wound up, the car leaving the shabby area.
She looked at her surroundings, and it dawned on her that it was the time of evening.
Walking to her house, she opened the door. Calling out for her mother.
"Mother, I'm home!" She said walking towards the room, she found her mother laying in the bed peacefully, her chest moving up and down to signify she was still very much okay, at least that's what she wanted to believe.
Leaving the room, she went to the kitchen to make food, it was cold and she'd need something warm to eat.
Her feet dragged out of the room, heading towards the kitchen. Her mother was her everything, and she didn't want to think what would happen if she were to lose her.
Tomorrow's another day, she would definitely get a job, at least that was what she hoped. She sighed thinking about it.
...
Arijit had arrived at the mansion, his family members who were waiting for him anxiously saw him coming. Their eyes held relief as they saw he was perfectly fine.
Samara walked towards her brother, wanting to hug him but her mother beat her to it. Making it seem as though she didn't want her touching Arijit. Others might have not noticed it but she could see it clearly.
"Oh Arijit! Are you okay?" Devi said, wrapping her hands around him, Arijit was too tired to hug her back which was misinterpreted by Devi.
She pulled away, trying to keep up the smile on her face.
Rajput merely glanced at his son, while Arijit didn't bother about it. "Are you okay?" He asked and Arijit nodded with a smile.
Samara stared at him with a worried look, earning her a smile from him. He walked towards her and placed his hands on her head, making her feel shorter than she already was. She internally smiled at the thought.
"You shouldn't worry, I'm all good." He said while making his arms wide as if to say he was fine and there's nothing to worry about. She smiled at him.
Samara took up the opportunity to give him a hug which he returned. "I'm glad you're okay." She muttered under her breathe.
Pulling away, she smiled at him, glad that he was fine and had appeared okay. Did he visit the hospital though?
Not able to hold her curiosity and concern for him, she asked. "Did you visit the hospital brother?" He nodded his head and she let out a sigh of relief but his mother wasn't letting it go.
"I'll call the family doctor. Those lowly doctors never do their jobs well." Devi complained with her brows furrowed. Unhappy that her son had given his little sister all his attention while he ignored them both. His parents!
"I'm fine mother. The test went well, there's no need to call the doctor. I'm perfe-"
"Your mother's right. We should call the doctor. We can't rely on some measly test." His father said for him to sigh. Devi smiled that her husband had given his word, but that didn't mean, she did not notice how her son never listened to her these days.
Arijit turned to Samara who gave him a nod, indicating he should go ahead with the test. Samara would agree on this one with her parents. After all, it was about her dear brother's health.
"You both should go ahead to call the doctor. I'll go freshen up." He said, leaving them.
Samara glanced at both her parents to say. "I'll be in my room." They merely responded which Samara didn't bother at all. She was escaping tonight after all.
Climbing the stairs, she went back to her room. Seeing her brother in perfect condition was enough for her.
Closing and locking the door which she usually did every night, though her mother had warned her not to, it had turned to one of her many habits.
She paced back and forth, thinking of a feasible plan to get past those guards.
It was the time of evening, and she still didn't know what to do. Somewhere, she felt her mother had just stalled her day, if she were alone the whole day, she'd have already devised a plan to leave the mansion.
Sighing, she went to her study table, sitting tiredly, she placed her head on the table. What to do?? What was she going to do in a span of few hours. She felt her mother had taken her time on purpose.
"Fuck!" She cursed. Raising her head, she picked up a page and something fell off the page. Her brows furrowed, picking up whatever it was that had fallen.
Looking at it closely, her forehead smoothened and a sly smirk was visible on her face.
Sleeping pills! If she could smuggle it into their drinks it would help for the night. She wasn't going to kill them after all.
Her face beamed in happiness but all too soon it was gone and was replaced with discomfort.
How would she give it to them though, she hardly went into the kitchen and it would raise suspicion especially this late, but it wasn't night yet. She could sneak in when the maids weren't watching.
Sighing, she placed the sleeping pills in her pocket, taking in a sharp breath and releasing it. She left the room with a strong resolve.
