"The mayor is responsible for signing the revised security protocols, and also sanitation-based issues," Derek said over the phone.

Quickly, he wore his suit and stormed out of the room.

The smell of detergent reminded him of his troubles. His company was having a setback, and the load of work he had as the deputy mayor.

To his surprise, he met his wife on the cushion, sobbing.

"Nora? What happened?"

No response. The data on the television screen had his answer.

"Mayor and Daughter Murdered in Cold Blood"

Mayor Stanley was a distant family friend to Nora, and his wife was a childhood friend of hers. This made them a kind of family. And that explained her sobbing.

They were murdered at the Ziks expressway. From the reporters, it was no doubt assassins, as the blades could tell. Only Mrs Stanley survived, and she was in the hospital.

Receiving intensive care.

Many questions ran through his mind. What would bring assassins to this city. Innoculus had no trivial groups, and he had kept his hands clean.

"Derek, the reporters would love to hear a word or two from you" his assistant said interrupting his train of thoughts.

He nodded in agreement. Of course, it was his duty to feed the citizens with news when something serious concerning the government happens. And this was the case.

" Let's go" he mumbled.

Walking down the aisle, the stream of reporters was few and was organized, unlike when his bodyguards would be struggling to keep them under control.

Perhaps they were organized today because these were the government-based reporters, not the private based.

Another reason may be that the private-based reporters were still at the scene of the murder.

Stepping up the pulpit, there were flashes of light as he commenced his speech.

"It is with deep sorrow that we're witnessing the death of our mayor and his wife" he paused.

He let those words sink in. After all, he hadn't accepted the fact that the person he saw the other day was murdered.

"But we have to know that their death won't stop us from progressing as a city, as well as we won't overlook this case"

Silence reigned for a while.

"Whatever the cause of their death, given time and tight investigations, we would find it. And my condolences to the family of the bereaved"

He stepped down from the pulpit indicating that he was done with his speech.

"Mr. Mayor, what is your stand on the revised security protocols and sanitation schedules?"

"Mr. Mayor?" That sounded new to his ear, as he tried to process the information. Of course, he was now the acting mayor, but to acknowledge the fact too fast would look suspicious.

"The acting mayor would review all documentaries and give you his say when he gets to his office," his assistant said.

" Thanks, Diaz" he murmured.

" Anything"

Bay City Research Centre.

Derek walked into the laboratory where the bodies lay.

The medical staffs paid respects to him. He responded their greetings by nodding his head frantically.

The air had the scent of death, as the bodies proposed." I want to see the evidences. " he said.

He walked towards the body, and closed his eyes immediately. This was an eyesore.

It brought memories he hated. The bloodthirsty version of him. How he killed the innocent, used his sword to wreck havoc upon people destroyed communities. It brought memories when he was an assassin.

Young, and vibrant, ready to do anything as far as blood is concerned. Because of strong willpower, he brought himself back to the conscious reality, to avoid suspicions.

He looked at the young girl. She didn't even get a chance to live her life.

"The police is trying their best to get evidence out of the blades" Diaz said.

"They're wasting their time." he murmured. Even if they found out the identity of the assassin, they would be dead before the media knows anything.

He looked at the dead Jessica once more. Her fragile chest had been pierced with blades.

"Whoever that did this, must pay" he said, in a calm voice for all to hear. Everyone nodded in unison, except Diaz; who looked at him, a wet smile forming on his face .

Bay City Police Headquarters.

Today, there were lots of activities. Mostly investigations. Detectives walked in and out of the building, mostly looking for further shreds of evidence.

This time, the main case was the murder of the mayor.

"Detective Roderick, congratulations you've been selected among the people to investigate the mayor's case" the captain congratulated.

" Thank you" he smiled.

His joy was short-lived when the acting mayor walked in, muscular bodyguards by his side.

Everyone stood up to pay their respect to him, but he dismissed them with the wave of his hand.

The police captain went to greet him, as he was the person he was looking for.

"How're the investigations?" Derek asked.

" Progressive. We were able to get the plate number of the car, and the CCTV surveillance footage looked photoshopped." captain Will explained.

The confused expression on Derek's face.

" What do you mean photoshopped?"

" The killer had good computer skills. Should I explain further?"

" No. First I need to see the footage myself, and where's the detective investigating this case"

" Ooh, that almost crossed my memories" He turned around motioning for detective Roderick to show forth. And he did that.

" Mr. Mayor, this is detective Roderick"
