The particle accelerator

[A/N: Dc timeline is mad weird, for convenience, we know the particle accelerator explodes on December 13th, and Slade shows up at the beginning of 2014]

-Lucas's pov -

Oliver hasn't spoken to me in a couple of weeks, not out of spite or fear. I think it is out of confusion, he wants to know what I am, and what I am capable of. He has wanted to know for a long time, he thinks I'm some sort of failed experiment that lived.

There is no easy way to tell someone you love even though you hate them sometimes that you are a monster. It's just what I am, I literally have to drink blood to survive.

Don't get me wrong, I fully admit I am one. Am I ashamed? Maybe a little bit, the act of draining a human's life doesn't bother me. No, my family's reactions do. The pure shock and confusion written all over Oliver's face was something I couldn't handle mentally.

I'm so used to Dembe being the one who witnesses the horror I unleash, he is always calm and collected, he knows what I am and doesn't fear me. But, Oliver? He hasn't seen me rip humans apart like paper before, well at least I thought he hadn't, some parts of the island are still blurry for me, I went on a blood-fueled craze for a long time.

The reaction he showed the other week was too strong for what I did, maybe it was the drugs that affected his mind?

"Sir, you need to get ready," Dembe's voice broke me from my thoughts

I nodded and began to put my suit on, it was a rather nice suit but not overly nice, the black dress shirt I wore under it was flowing slightly so it would look nice if I take my jacket off.

As predicted when election time rolled around, everyone wanted me to run for mayor so I did, without that crazy bastard running around drugging people up I have practically no competition.

Oh wait, my mom decided to run.

The woman is insufferable, she actually thinks she has a real chance. The people love me, they won't vote her in.

I left my house, I have a speech to give at the steps of the courthouse, I have been campaigning the glades so much a gap was left for my mom to swoop in.

It's time for me to shine.

As I left the house I saw a car pull up, it parked and Thea was the one to emerge. She had a bright smile in contrast with the scowl she was sending me just weeks before.

We really have been working on our relationship, she is my sister, and no matter what she is important to me.

"Thea," I said with a wide smile enveloping her in a big hug

"Lucas," she replied while returning the hug

I let her go and laughed, "you act like I haven't seen you in year's you were over yesterday,"

"I know but, it's just so hard to believe you are running for mayor," she replied with a teary smile

"I'm just so proud, even if you decided to compete with mom," she continued

"Which one of us is the older sibling here?" I noted with an exaggerated look of confusion, "and get your facts right LIL sis, mom decided to compete with me,"

She frowned and rolled her eyes, "what I can't root for both of you?" it was clear she wasn't really sad or mad about it

"Nope~ now are you coming with me or not I have to go," I reminded her while briskly walking over to my car she was hot on my heels

"Obviously with," she replied while getting into the car

-break-

I stood on the steps leading up to the courthouse, the media was swarming around me, and the pedestrians walking began to crowd. My supporters showed up cheering me on.

"Thank you all for coming today, I have been talking about reforming the glades and helping the less fortunate of Starling city every day for since the incident but, I have not forgotten about the rest of the city. Today, I will address something that has been brewing in my mind ever since I started my campaign. The courthouse, it is a place, everyone knows, and everyone respects for its purpose and its duty to uphold the legal rights of this nation. I stand on these steps looking out into the rest of the city, it seems like only a couple steps and I would be greeted by the fast-paced hustle and bustle of Starling City, but here I am standing on the steps of the courthouse, and everyone respects and upholds this sanctuary. A sanctuary that should not only be provided by the courthouse, but this city also is our home, and it pains me to see the crime rate steadily increasing, and the dangers to innocent civilians begging to rise. We should treat the whole city like a courthouse, with respect, honor, and integrity. That's why I will be pushing for police reforms to help protect the people better, I will also be pushing for more regulated security. I will not allow my city to be taken over and protected by two masked individuals! We need to all help each other, we need to take accountability, and most of all we need to stand united! Help me rebirth the Glades from its smothering ashes, to achieve a unity never seen before!" I finished off my speech with a wide smile

"YEAHHH!"

"WE LOVE YOU!"

"LUCAS FOR MAYOR!"

"MR. QUEEN FOR MAYOR!"

The booming cheering of the crowd, the genuine smiles I can see before me, the faces of those I have helped greeting me with open arms.

It makes me feel less like a monster. I have a long while to go before I'm mentally healthy but this is a step I can feel it.

[Time Skip- December 13th ]

Dembe, Thea, and I all rode in the same car heading straight for Central City. Thea said she needed a breath of fresh air from Starling city and wanted to come along with Dembe and me to see the particle accelerator.

I was excited, so very excited. I pray to all things in the universe I get some powers or maybe just an evolution.

I didn't want to be too close to the blast zone so we left a little late, I already have an apartment picked out that has easy access to the roof.

We pulled into the parking lot and made our way to the roof, Thea stood to my left, and Dembe to my right.

As the clock began to tick my nerves began to build, "this is going to be so cool!" I gushed looking back and forth between Dembe and Thea

They both rolled their eyes at me, I grinned as the clock struck, signaling the start of the age of metahumans.

*zzzrrr* the building began to make a weird noise

"That isn't good," I said taking a fake step back

"We should go this doesn't seem right," Thea added

"Let's go," Dembe said as we all began to walk away

*BOOOOM!* as the sound of the explosion reached my ears my whole body felt like it was aflame

I couldn't even scream as my vision blackened, my last thoughts were if Thea and Dembe were okay.

-end-

Trying to show character growth through activities more than just words, like campaigning he originally started out of greed to be mayor but now he is actually liking it. Sorry for the shorter than usual chapter, college is quite literally beating the shit out of me.

Last polls:

Oliver gets a power(won't be op just to help with our archery)

Thea:

Ability to gain properties of anything she touches

Or the ability to create illusions

Dembe: (remember he is going to be a vampire)

No ability

Ability( suggestions?)
