Flare's curse

Flare's lips twitched at the sudden display of pity from the old man.

For a second, he did not know how to react.

If the old man taunted him, he would very happily and easily retort back. Somehow that already became the way the duo interacted with each other.

But with this sudden bout of pity added to the mix, Flare couldn't cope up with the change.

He even began to wonder if he should not reply to the old man's question and let him continue to pity him.

That way, couldn't he order the old man around more blatantly.

Though such a crazy thought crossed his mind once, he immediately discarded it.

For one, there is no need to use any pity to win over the old man. He could easily do that all on his own.

Secondly and most importantly, there is no way he would be able to live under such a crazy expression of the old man for any longer.
