Have you eaten lunch?

"No, I had a busy day, today but I will eat lunch later. I am busy at the moment," she hurriedly told him so she could continue what she was doing.

"I will eat lunch with you I came around for business," he informed her.

"Okay, I will meet you downstairs," she told him. He hung up and she smiled apologetically at the woman she was helping. The middle-aged woman returned her smile and nodded.

"It must be your husband," the woman commented.

"Not, yet. He is my fiancé," she replied as she gave the woman a helping hand to get down from one of the equipment.

"What a shame. I was thinking of letting you meet my son," she murmured. "You give really good care and I won't mind having a daughter-in-law like you. Your mother-in-law must be proud of you," the woman complimented her.

Lin Jing smiled shyly and shook her head bashfully. No, soon she believed, her mother-in-law will regret playing the matchmaker between her and Mr. Shen Yan.

She glanced at her finger and her engagement ring was missing. She must have forgotten to wear it.

"After my accident, my son has been so busy taking care of me he had no time to date," the woman complained sadly.

Lin Jing nodded in understanding. The woman's son had to be very nice and decent for him to do that. he must be rich for his mother to be assigned to her as a VIP client and he would have simply gotten her a caregiver.

"I just hope he does not blame me much. I heard you work wonders with your therapy that is why I came here."

"No, I just do my basic work as a therapist nothing more," she refused such compliments, she was not a miracle worker but a simple physiotherapist.

"You don't need to be so humble."

Her client's son came to pick her up when they were done and he was a very good-looking man who wore a warm smile. She could only wish him good as well as that he does not get involved with a woman like her.

He asked if she could pay home visits but she was not allowed to accept the person was a VVIP client who could not come to their office for tangible reasons.

Shen Xuan built this facility to ensure they get maximum care making it fully equipped and there was no way they will take large equipment to the client's home for the therapy session.

Her phone rang and she paused hesitating when she saw the caller, she hesitated to pick up the call but she did as she felt that man has proved himself to be shameless enough to show up in her office if she does not pick up his call.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Lu Tian," she greeted him as formally as she could.

"Have you eaten lunch?" he asked her sounding worried.

She winced as she clenched the phone tightly wishing she could throw it at him. "Yes, I have," she lied.

"What did you have for dessert?" he asked her in disbelief.

"I ate my favorite strawberry cake," she replied sharply without thinking of an answer to give him as she did not want him to keep doubting her.

"I thought you liked raspberry more," he asked her sounding fascinated as he further got her frustrated.

She parted her lips to speak but she pressed lips together at the end. She closed her eyes and sighed feeling very frustrated. How did he know for goodness' sake?

"I am really busy right now or I would have eaten lunch with you so I decided to send you raspberry cake from the best baker in this country. It would be delivered to you soon," he informed her not giving her any room for refusal.

She could only thank her luck that he was too busy to come or she would have to feel like a cheating wife she was not. She did not want to have anything to do with it at this moment.

"I will eat dinner with you," he decided to drop another bomb on her head.

"I have a fiancé I will eat dinner and lunch with," she replied firmly before hanging up. She exhaled when she hung up and stood up. her fiancé was already calling her perhaps he had arrived.

She stepped out of the door to see him. He smiled before opening his hand wide for her. She smiled shyly before going into his warm embrace.

She grimaced as she could not tell if he was peeping just like they do in the dramas she watched as a young girl growing up. She felt guilt make her throat feel patchy she swallowed to wet her throat.

He pulled away from her and smiled. "You look hungry," he told her with a worried frown.

She smiled and nodded in agreement. "You don't have to visit me," she tried to persuade him.

"Why not?" he asked displeased.

She pressed her lips together as she gathered enough courage to say what she had to. She stepped closer to him and smiled jovially.

"It is all a joke, you don't need to go out of your way to do things for me when no one is watching," she replied to him bluntly but as softly as she could.

He paused and looked at her for the longest two seconds before blinking and nodding with his lips paused.

"You are right but as I said earlier, if it is possible, I would not mind getting married to you," he replied to her so sincerely she wanted to go to a priest to confess all her sins as she was too scared to tell him.

"I think it is best to take it slowly. I don't want to rush into anything without knowing the man well. I also don't want to get your hopes too high as I might change my mind anytime. I am not that ideal woman you deserve," she told him as sincerely as she could without telling him her biggest secret wish was bigger than the phone she just had with his friend.

He sighed. "First things first, let us eat lunch," he smiled before taking her hand in his and leading her out.

She got a few stares and she could blush. She sent a text to her boss and friend as they left. She had no appointment for the night for one hour so she could eat lunch comfortably.

Mr. Shen Xuan told her to take her time but she was not a fan of taking advantage of things like this as she made up her mind to return ten minutes earlier.
