Sick?

"Why do you say no?" his voice so monotonous reflecting the cold expression in his eyes as his brow smoothened.

He approached her slowly she could not help but sense a trace of caution in every step he took. She rubbed her face and took a deep breath. She attempted to stand up but her legs felt too weak to handle her weight as she returned to that same position.

He squatted in front of her with his lips pressed to form a thin line. "You are sick, right? Is it anxiety disorder?" he asked her softly as his hand touched her cheeks lightly and he rubbed his thumb gently over the warm smoothness of her cheeks.

She shivered slightly and rested her back against the cold glass which felt just as cold as his hand before shaking her head slowly when it felt like an eternity of silence.

"That is a lie, you are sick. What caused it? A trauma?" he asked as he pulled her away from the cold glass and looked into her eyes searching for what could make this confident and intelligent act so broken.

She shook her head firmly. "I am fine," she replied softly her voice hoarse from screaming her lungs out.

"No, you are not but I will not ask you again until you are ready to tell me," he told her so softly very in contrast to the cold expression he wars like someone with facial paralysis.

She shook her head again firmly refusing to be called sick. She was everything far from that. She might be experiencing some downs in her life but that does not make her different from many others including the man who was judging her.

He nodded as though he agreed with her and brushed her hair back gently like he was handling a delicate child.

As much as she hated being treated this way because he thought she was sick, she could refuse the warmth that spread throughout her chest with the gentleness in his touch although it was far from his eyes.

He pulled her into his arms and pat her back soothingly. They remained that way for what felt like an eternity and when he pulled away from her, she had fallen asleep.

He lifted her in his arms and took her to her bedroom. After covering her up, he sat down beside her and looked down at her peaceful face that held no emotion but yet he could feel the warmth from it.

Her reaction was everything far from what he expected and if it was all an act, then she should be worthy of winning an Oscar award.

His plans, for now, had been shattered but that did not mean he won't be able to get it some other time.

He had always known what horror the woman who can make him feel aroused will have to witness if she was willing to be his woman without hesitation and if she refuses him.

If she accepted him without hesitation, then it was all a plan to entrap him and he has her tortured until she tells him the drug, she used to drug him and he will use it to get a child through surrogacy to that he would have an heir.

If she refuses him, then he would have to make her his by every means in the world. He was someone who must have everything he wanted in the business world and his life.

He had all he loved taken from him growing up and he never desired anything seriously now so there was no reason why he should not have the woman his body yearns after.

He leaned forward and placed a kiss on her forehead before caressing the side of her face. She was a dangerous beauty but he knew it went beyond that. He was going to find them all out and take them away with him.

Lu Tian looked at the screen of her ringing phone that woke him up. He returned the phone to the nightstand after silencing the phone.

He stretched as he wondered who the caller could be calling her so early in the morning. He glanced at the inbuilt fancy wall clock; it was just six in the morning. She rolled and continued to sleep like a baby.

She had a small gym he saw the first time he came to her house and as someone who usually runs in every morning as a major exercise, he went to her gym and spent ten minutes there although he was not satisfied afterward, he walked out of it and began cleaning the house.

He was done preparing a simple breakfast of toast and fried eggs when she walked out of the room fully dressed. He came with a fresh outfit last night since he had every intention to sleep at her house.

He smiled when she met his gaze. At first, it was difficult to do so as his smiles disappeared after that woman died but he did it with ease under the gaze of those bright eyes.

She looked away almost immediately without returning his smile and he frowned before walking toward her. He cupped her face in his hands and lifted her head to meet his gaze.

"When someone smiles at you, you should return it," he told her as he tried to talk calmly despite the heat raging within begging to be let out.

He smiled again under her gaze and she smiled slightly to return his smile.

"Thank you," he told her more like an acknowledgment of her smile than an appreciation. It was everything far from an appreciation.

She began shifting uncomfortably as she wanted to escape his gentle yet compulsory hold. "I am getting late," she murmured as she did not like the fact that she was so close to him.

So close to seeing all those features she could never notice in his face from afar or in the dark especially the newly discovered fact that his eyes were black yet they felt transparent as the pupil was jet black much darker than the iris making the iris look grayish in comparison.

She wondered why she had not noticed that before she always felt his eyes were pitch black but at this point, she was thinking it might be dark grey and not black.

He leaned forward as he released her and inhaled deeply when his nose touched her neck. "You smell nice," he murmured before leaving a light feathery kiss on her neck.

She shivered as she bit the inside of her lower lips to hold back a moan. What the hell was he doing to her body and what was that tingle in her lower abdomen?

Of a truth, she knew the answers to all those questions but it strangely felt better to leave them all unanswered.
