Abrin

"By the way, what was the poison that affected me Jack?" Brian suddenly asked.

"Uhh, it was a natural poison called Abrin.

Allen told that it is found in rosary pea plants. Its effect is quite severe as you have experienced it yourself but it is also cured easily. I just had to wash the wound repeatedly and you woke up fir and fine." Jack told all the information he had on this poison called Abrin. He naturally skipped some details that he himself didn't understand.

Brian remained silent after hearing his explanation as if trying to remember something.

Jack didn't mind this behavior and continued to complete the task in his hand. After all he also wanted some Creation Points to become stronger.

Why??

As a man, who doesn't want to become stronger. It can also be blamed on the thinking developed by humans on earth due to their mindset but Jack was also among those kinds of men. He subconsciously also believed in male dominance and wanted to become a 'man' who could make a woman rely on.

After some time, Brian's eyes sparkled. He had finally remembered where he had heard the word Abrin.

Abrin was one of the 10 deadliest plants. Although it wasn't ranking in the deadliest poisons, but it was also quite dangerous. Abrin spreads through air, water, food and even contact.

Brian was fortunately just infected on his skin and not through blood or air because if one eats this poison in any form, it is almost impossible to find a cure in this environment. On the other hand, if the human skin is in contact with this poison it can easily be washed off but the lingering effects still remain.

Brian had learnt about this information while he was in his survival training class.

Hearing that this poison was present near his territory, his mind started working on a terrifying plan. He started having thoughts about taking control of the area where rosary peas grew.

There was another reason for his attack: he just couldn't sit back like a tortoise when he was attacked by a Dart Goblin. He wanted to retaliate.

The attack was risky, but Brian was ready to take the chance. He knew that is he became afraid of such risks, he would never be able to get [Selected]

Becoming a [Selected] was not some kind of an exam. It was not even a test. It all depended on the will of the [Selectors] which were mostly Gods whom Brian had heard about while living on earth.

"I need to kill them all" Brian mumbled

He wasn't idle enough to go and kill the entire enemy tribe because he was attacked by a member of their tribe but he knew that one must show some kind of spectacular show to these [Selectors] to grab their attention towards him.

'Unfortunately, judging by the combat effectiveness of the Dart Goblin I fought, it definitely isn't easy to solo kill the entire tribe unless there is a proper plan and exact execution takes place.'

Brian knew that doing spectacular things would be important to grab the [Selectors] attention but he wasn't stupid enough to directly head towards an entire Dart Goblin tribe and expect the plot armour to save him.

"Forget it I will have to plan perfectly for this one…" Brian murmured while walking towards the warehouse where Allen was locked.

Brian took a deep breath and opened the door.

He slightly widened his eyes as what awaited him behind that door was a haggard old man completely different from the Allen who wanted to betray him.

Brian clicked his tongue while silently complimenting Jack's cruelty towards an old man like Allen. He himself would have second thoughts to torture an old man even after strict training as he was taught to respect elders since he was born.

Brian instantly calmed himself and continuously reminded himself that this is not earth and morals won't help here. One must be cruel and cold-blooded.

"How are you, Mr. Allen J Gard. I hope that you are in good spirits." Brian walked towards him with a slight smile on his face.

Allen looked at him viciously and refused to comment on this obvious mockery.

Brian ignored this gesture and continued to mock at his current state.

"I hope that Jack has treated you nicely, as after all, you are an old man who was one of the top scientists of the whole earth.

Tch Tch Tch….

But unfortunately, this isn't earth and you are nothing but an old man here." Brian coldly shouted.

Allen finally couldn't remain calm after it and the last shout broke his last hope. He had been posing to look tough because he believed in his capabilities, he never considered the possibility to get killed after he showed his worth. After all, he still had the pride of the world's top scientist.

"Wh- WHAT DO YOU WANT!!!!!!" Allen couldn't hold it in anymore and loudly shouted.

Brian smirked slightly but immediately covered it.

"Logically I should kill you, but my morals don't allow me to kill an old and helpless man like you.

The last option is that, you become my subordinate and continue to stay caged until you contribute something extraordinary for me." Brian said with a playful smile on his face.

While he was smiling on the outside, he was very tensed on the inside. He desperately wanted the help of such an excellent scientist like Allen but he also had his bottom line. He was all the more in need of a useful subordinate after he got to know about the involvement of Gods as selectors.

"You!!" Allen was enraged but couldn't speak anything to refute.

He had prepared himself to stay as a subordinate but not to be caged like a beast. But, he himself knew for a fact that he would've chosen to kill if he was in Brian's position.

"I-me… Let me think about it" Allen helplessly sighed

He was after all one old man past the age of 80. He knew that death would've arrived if he was on earth but suddenly everything changed for him. The word longevity meant nothing for a young person in his twenties as he didn't know the fear of death but for someone in his 80s, it meant something very different.

If someone asked Allen on earth if he was afraid of death, he wouldn't have hesitated to say "No", because he knew his destiny and the limit of human life. But after arriving in the [Selection Area] there was a fire of hope ignited in his heart. He had worked all day and used everything he learnt within his life as a scientist to survive in this competitive world. All of that was to continue living on.

Unfortunately, on one such day, Brian arrived and asked him to hand over the control of his life…

"Fine, I will give you 7 hours after which there will be no options and only death. I hope you choose well Allen… Sir" Brian turned around and walked away from the jailed Allen.

He intentionally used the word Sir to remind him of his life as a scientist where everyone respected and praised him.

"Finally I have time to check out my new skill and the newest 'help' from that Dart Goblin…"
