The Boon Century II

I felt a guilty tug on my heartstrings, one I couldn't get rid of. This was all my fault.

 

"How is she?" I weakly mumbled.

 

"Edna is resting… whose pet are you? I am afraid I haven't met the other Lords yet." A small smile broke out on her lips, kind.

 

'Ah, Becca… I miss you.'

 

I blinked. My vision blurred thanks to my watery eyes. 

 

"Oh, lords! Are you alright?" She approached me, crouching down and reaching for me only to stop short when she noticed how dirty her hands were. "I-m sorry, I—"

 

"No." I shook my head and wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. "It's okay. I'm fine." I planted my hands on my knees and rose to my feet, staring down at the maid who also straightened to my level. We were roughly the same height.
