A Small Thanks

Angela looked toward Jonathan with surprise as she didn't expect him to ask her to come along but when she looked around her at the people that were mingling and how she was doing nothing her answer became clear within a few moments.

"Sure why not. What are we doing?" Angela said as she hopped up from her chair and began walking toward Jonathan.

When Jonathan heard her agree he inwardly smiled as he thought that the little girl wasn't as simple as she seemed considering everything that happened with her in the game but he also wanted a companion to join him as he searched around. Plus to him any new connection is a good connection.

"We're going to look around this entire room for anything that might help us but first we need to meet up with someone." Jonathan said as he and Angela walked in the direction of the black-haired girl who was sitting at the opposite end of the table from where Jonathan had sat.

"Why do we need to do that and who's this person?" Angela asked in confusion as she looked around the wide expanse of space or at least tried to. She was tall enough to look over the table but the taller chairs blocked her view at some points despite her best efforts of trying to stand on the tips of her toes.

Jonathan was about to respond to her but then he remembered that Angela had been asleep since the very beginning of the game and she knew nothing about the black-haired girl or the way that they had passed the last game so he decided to explain to her everything that had happened so far up until the end of the first game.

The time it took to explain everything was the same time it took for them to finally reach the black-haired girl's seat. When they arrived the black-haired girl looked up and caught sight of them. At first the black-haired girl had a look of astonishment on her face when she saw that the little girl was awake but before she could say anything Angela decided to speak first.

"Thank you." Angela said to the black-haired girl leaving both her and Jonathan shocked as they didn't expect that kind of response right after they met each other.

"Thanks for what?" The black-haired girl asked in confusion as she set the utensils that she had in her hand while she was sitting and eating down.

"Thanks for your help during the first game." Angela repeated once more her thanks but this time elaborated further on what she meant.

The black-haired girl looked over at Jonathan wondering why she was saying this but Jonathan just shrugged his shoulders, "I only told her about the first game. I didn't tell her to say thanks or anything." Jonathan said showing he wasn't the cause of this.

After Jonathan said that, Angela looked at him strangely before speaking once more, "Like you said earlier, you never give something for free. It's a trade no matter how small the items are. You said she helped me so my payment to her is my thanks. Isn't that right?" Angela said surprising Jonathan once more with the depth of her thinking.

"Well... yeah that's right." Jonathan replied not being able to say that she was wrong by any means. What she said was true and he would have done the same thing so he definitely couldn't fault her for it.

"Don't worry about it. It was something small and it was my pleasure being able to help you. Most of all I would say that he helped you more than anyone else if you are thanking people." The black-haired girl said suddenly as she pointed toward Jonathan.

Angela looked toward Jonathan in confusion before looking back toward the black-haired girl, "He didn't mention helping at all. He only talked about you and that other guy helping me over a wall and then making sure I was safe." Angela said still confused about what the black-haired girl meant. Meanwhile, the black-haired girl glanced at Jonathan once more with her jaw slightly opened.

'He didn't tell her anything?!' The black-haired girl screamed within her mind.

"I didn't think it was really necessary to tell her my part so I just skipped it hahaha." Jonathan said as he scratched his head and laughed trying to laugh away the awkward situation.

The black-haired girl ignored Jonathan completely at this point and then proceeded to tell Angela about everything that Jonathan had done up until this point. The further the black-haired girl got in the story the further Angela's jaw dropped and when everything was finally explained Angela's jaw was left wide open.

"I don't think a thanks will suffice. So for now I will just say thank you and just pay back the rest later." Angela said almost at a whisper before she walked beside Jonathan once more and went silent.

"No worries at all, I was happy to help." Jonathan said laughing slightly as he watched the previously energetic and calm Angela go completely silent not knowing what to say or do.

"Did you get your slip?" Jonathan asked the black-haired girl trying to change the conversation away from the awkwardness that he was currently feeling.

The black-haired girl pulled a slip out from under her food plate and showed it to Jonathan. It was the exact same as the many other slips Jonathan had seen so far with the only difference being the letters printed on the slip itself.

The name written on the slip was, "Kylie." Jonathan whispered as he read the slip in front of him just loud enough for Angela to hear as well. Once he read it Kylie nodded her head agreeing that he had read it right before coming up with her own question.

"Since I showed you my name what is yours?" Kylie asked gesturing toward both Jonathan and Angela who had both left their slips on the plate they ate on.
