Tom had a smile on his face as he was running thinking that he had the final spot to the cabin in the bag. Little did he know that even if he made it to the finish line next he still wouldn't have a spot in the cabin since Derek had already taken it but for the sake of Jonathan's plan they needed to have Derek arrive next that way, there were no questions about what happened with the results.
Derek got lucky since Tom considered Derek to be quite slow and even wondered if Derek had completely given up after he passed him but it was quite the opposite. Derek was so enraged that Tom passed him that he was running even faster than he ever had before. So fast that with 5 seconds left until Tom reached the end Derek reached his hand out and grabbed Tom by the shoulder pulling him backward.
Tom didn't expect this so he fell back quite easily but to top it all off when Derek pulled Tom back he made sure to hook his leg under him that way he would have his feet taken out from under him and land on the ground.
*Thud*
"Ow!" Tom said as he slammed onto the ground hitting his back just moments away from touching the finish line but when he looked up there was a different person at the force field taking the spot, Derek.
"Yes! I did it!" Derek shouted happily as he jumped up and down in joy. Jonathan and Angela both had a look of slight surprise on their face seeing how he accomplished the feat but nonetheless, in their minds, they were clapping their hands in appreciation of his efforts. Being able to catch Tom while also fighting off 2 people was nothing to be taken lightly.
Kylie gave him a high five in appreciation while the other three guys were watching with sly smiles on their faces. The only one of them that didn't have a full sly smile was the leader and he was looking at Derek with visible anger apparent in his eyes. Jonathan saw this and became slightly nervous for everyone in the cabin but then he remembered the rules of the cabin. Wait the rules?
When this thought crossed Jonathan's mind he began panicking a little. There were some slight rules in place in the normal resting area of the room since people had to go into their sleeping bags at certain times but inside the cabin there were no such rules and no locks on the doors.
This train of thought made Jonathan begin to realize another reason for the existence of the cabin. It was only a theory but he hoped more than anything that the theory didn't prove to be true. It truly encompassed the saying, 'Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.'
Jonathan then glanced at the man that had led the 4 other guys and knew that he seemed to be up to no good. Not only was he hot-headed which was proven by his interaction with Sam the day before but he also had evil eyes from Jonathan's view that didn't mask their hatred in the slightest.
Jonathan didn't trust those guys in the slightest but at the same time he couldn't say Angela shouldn't give them access since it would make everyone else say that the game was unfair. So far the guys had done nothing really wrong besides contributing to adding physicality to the race which seemed to be going over fine with everyone considering the stakes.
"Are you ready?" Jonathan asked Angela now that the race had finally concluded. It was up to her to give them access to the cabin since she was the one in charge of it until after the next game. Angela looked up toward him giving a nod before walking alongside him toward the people.
By this point, the entire group had crowded around the winners wanting to watch once more as people passed through the force field and walked toward the cabin. It didn't take long for Jonathan and Angela to join them since the people made a path for the current cabin owner.
"Good job everyone. Here's your access. I allow Derek and Kylie access to the cabin." Angela said before walking over to the three evil-looking guys that still weren't masking their anger toward Derek for punching their other two teammates.
"What are your names?" Angela asked the three since she needed to know it so she could give them access.
"I'm John, these two are Clyde and Zach." The leader of the group said introducing himself as John. John was a taller man that had a similar build to Tom and Sam while having black hair. Clyde and Zach weren't tall in the slightest and were on the rather short end of things while both having brown hair.
When they saw Angela approach and talk to them Clyde and Zach both had strange looks in their eyes as if they found Angela to be quite interesting. Jonathan also saw this and thought that it might be better to keep an eye on those two rather than John since at the very least John seemed to be somewhat competent.
"I give access to John, Clyde, and Zach." Angela said out loud allowing the final 3 people access to the cabin. Now all 5 spots were taken and all those that were allowed in started passing through the force field. Jonathan watched as Derek, Kylie, and Angela walked side by side toward the cabin while John, Clyde, and Zach followed closely behind.
'I hope nothing goes wrong.' Jonathan thought to himself with a frown. He knew that it was better for him not to be a part of the cabin but at the same time he felt so helpless when he couldn't rush toward the cabin if his friends needed him. At the very least he planned to stay awake a while just in the rare case that they may need him.
One of his inner mottos was always to be safe rather than sorry.
