Matthew Quach didn't understand what had just transpired and kicked a small rock in front of him.
"Do you honestly think men will like you if you behave this way?"
"Of course, many people are fond of me." Hannah replied nonchalantly, her hand fluttering a small fan, her eyes filled with confidence, "But it's unfortunate, I'm already spoken for, I can't offer every man a home."
Louis Snyder walked over, just in time to hear Hannah's last sentence.
"What do you mean by 'already spoken for'?," he questioned, his tone innocent while he stared hard into Hannah's extraordinarily bright eyes.
The words left his mouth heavy as if tied to a thousand pounds, but falling to the ground they made no sound.
He remembered Jackie Qualls' words. The sudden fog of doubt in his heart made it hard to breathe.
"Of course I'm talking about..." She chuckled softly, her fan twirling a cool breeze, "...myself."
Louis Snyder's smile froze, followed by a forced laugh, "You're quite the joker."
