There was someone's voice that could be heard. Vin is still sleeping, having a good dream. It was peaceful, until the voice from earlier became louder.
"Wake up, Vinney."
"..."
Vin's eyes slowly opened. There was light coming from outside that passed through the window onto his room. Beside him, was his mother who was seated to the corner of the bed.
"Today's school day."
"Yes, mom."
To convince that he's awake, Vin sat on the bed and wiped his eyes with his hands. Her mother already left the room. He's now looking outside through the window.
Today's the day for school... And my head hurts. Argh.
After wiping his whole face, Vin went off the bed and prepared for school. Following the usual routine of going to school, he first took his breakfast. After that, he took a bath. Moving on, he wore the uniform with noticeably white spots on its collar.
With everything set, Vin suddenly noticed something. There was a smell, a familiar one yet also odd. It's as if he had smelled it before but it's odd because the odor does not usually occur during this time of the day.
I'll figure it out later.
And with that, Vin and his parents went off to go to his school.
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
There were cries of different children that could be heard around. The intensity of the noise was comparable to a car screeching. Vin, who had been sitting in a corner, bowed his head. He did not expect something like this to happen.
Who could have thought that children in this world like to create noise all the time?!
Vin was about to snap when suddenly, the teacher started to speak. "Okay class, say goodbye to your parents now, we're about to start," she said in a soft tone. The children were attracted by that voice which made them calm. It was a miracle for Vin, at the very least.
Vin's parents had left already as they reached school earlier. He was glad to have so as they might not want to look at the expression he's having right now. He then calmed down a little and looked at the teacher, who seemed to be teaching easily.
"Everyone, look at me," the teacher said in a sweet and soft tone. She then signed for the parents to leave by raising her thumb. This assured the parents and they left off.
"Let's all sing!" the teacher said. "Is everyone familiar with abc?" she added.
Some of the class nodded while others said yes in a monotone voice. Vin, on the other hand, glared at the board with alphabets on top of it.
School is all about learning the alphabet?!
Afterwards, everyone sang the abc song aside from Vin. The teacher noticed this, but she thought that Vin had social issues, which she was prepared for.
"That's good everyone! Now, it's time for introductions," the teacher said smiling as everyone calmed down. "My name is Teacher Kris. Can everyone repeat my name again?" she added with the expectation of the class repeating her name.
"Teacher Kris," says the whole class with Vin again left out.
Time to skip lunch... Vin brought out his lunch box and opened it. He then realized that the smell of fried food earlier before they went out was his lunch. When the word fried is heard, of course, the food that comes into mind is chicken... And yes, Vin's lunch is fried chicken.
Just when Vin was about to take a bite, someone spoke from behind. It was a person who was taller than him which made him shiver a little bit and backed off in instinct.
"Introduction will be held after lunch, but you won't mind doing one now right?" the woman said.
When Vin looked up, he saw the woman's face. In close up, Teacher Kris seemed to look scary with the stars on him. Add up the difference in height and it would definitely bring a heart attack on anyone from Vin's previous world. But since there was no killing intent just like the giants have, there's no problem for him to deal with this kind of situation.
Though the glare made Vin uncomfortable, he started to ask, "Why now?"
"Of course, it's for us to be friends!" Teacher Kris replied in an energetic tone and friendly smile.
Vin sighed. He had already realized the teacher's intentions. She sugarcoated it by saying she wanted to be friends but she actually hopes for Vin to socialize as it seemed he would have trouble doing so.
"I won't have trouble making friends," Vin said.
"..."
There was no response from the teacher. All she said was for Vin to introduce himself and that she wanted to make friends but it went to the point where she was assured to have her concern be solved by a simple declaration. As it seemed to be that Vin knew the purpose of the conversation, Teacher Kris backed off and let him do what he wanted. She then thought,
That child's something...
As the matter was solved, Vin took his first bite on the fried chicken.
It did not take long before the next period of class started. And just like what Teacher Kris said earlier to Vin, it was time for introduction. For the program, It starts from the seat on the northwest of the room from Vin's perspective who was on the further back of it.
"My name is Jonnas, 3 years old..."
"Triz, 4 years old."
"My name's Wanda, and I love playing games!"
And so on with the introduction... It somehow took long before it was Vin's turn as some children would really share a lot of things about themselves.
"My name is Vin, and I am 4 years old. I like reading books and playing with others! It would be a pleasure to play with everyone here!" Vin said, who was surprisingly lively from the teacher's perspective. At first she thought that Vin would be left out in class but now, with that introduction, his assurance was proved to be really reliable.
With Vin's odd introduction, the words he said to himself which is "I'll live to the happiest I can be." was something you would expect to come out from that action.
