Episode 19: Confrontation

It's Saturday, the time to rest, for almost everyone. Therefore, she had an idea of what to do for the special day of the week. I, on the other hand, have decided to go along as there's nothing to do at home.

I walked up to their apartment at 8 in the morning. I rang the doorbell 3 times already, and there's still no one answering. I stood in the hallway, looking like some street boy due to my bland shorts and white t-shirt.

Finally, the door opened. As I expected, it was her sister wearing a loose shirt and shorts. She clearly looked like she just woke up.

"Oh, you!" she said. "Rita's not here, she just left to buy something from the convenience store."

"Ah," I replied. "I'll go and see her-"

"Come on," she held on my wrist and pulled. "It's free to enter our den!" I was dragged inside; the door closed immediately.

The unique sweet smell of a girl's apartment instantly went straight to my nose. For some other reason, this alone rose above all that caught my attention. The other being perfumes scattered around, make-ups neatly placed on the kitchen table, and the fancy furniture placed next to the television.

Ophelia forced me to sit on the kitchen chair. In front of me is the make-up that is properly placed as if it's part of the dining table. She stared at me, as I tried to figure out her intentions. Based on her eyes, there's nothing to be understood. Either she's deceiving those looks or maybe I just suck at it. Anyway, her intentions are something along testing, pouring her madness onto me, or flirting.

"So," Ophelia tapped her fingers on the table going closer to me. She's currently standing in front of me as if a mother teaching her child Mathematics. "How far have you two gone?"

I dropped my jaws and widened my eyes as if to say "what?" to her. Ophelia replied with her right eyebrow raising. I averted my gaze to her to something far away in which I started contemplating. "How far?" I asked myself. In just thinking alone, it made me fidget my foot uncontrollably.

"Uh-" Right after I formulated an answer, I was cutted off.

"Don't 'uh' me?!" Ophelia slammed her left hand onto the table. I felt my heart jump for a second, resetting my whole body function, focus included. "You know that I've seen you two 'that' day, huh?"

With my consciousness restarted, I first started to get a hold of the atmosphere. Visually, everything's red. I'm under pressure, it seems. Secondly, I can smell the deep fragrance of perfume. A smell that you'd get from Cinderella's stepmother.

Until finally, it'd hit me. "That" day means the time I visited their apartment to watch an animated show, only to be interrupted by Ophelia, nonetheless. I started wondering what I was doing at the time, only to be hit by an intense realization of the two of us showing affection to each other.

"Wait, no," I started to gather my thoughts. "That isn't what you think it is."

"A cliché line, isn't it?" Ophelia removed her hands on the table and instead crossed her arms. "Yeah, yeah. So that's all?"

I gulped and took a sigh. I started wondering, "is that all?" It seems so fishy that I just left the hook. And so I looked straight at Ophelia, who's still squinting her eyes, looking at me. My once widened eyes finally relaxed. At this point, I think she's just messing with me.

"Yeah, that's all." I relaxed on the seat, finally taking grasp of the situation.

"Ouh? Are you sure about that?" Ophelia walked closer. "Is that all?"

Ophelia continued to get closer. My once relaxed eyes went back to it being widened and stressed. "He-hey. What are you talking about now?" I backed off.

"My, my, I'm still talking about you two." Ophelia is at least 1 ruler away from me. "Or is it?"

It's getting tense. The pressure from earlier completely transformed into something different. Ophelia's loose shirt slightly revealed her chest as she slowly bowed down to me. She had her hands on my shoulder, as if not letting me escape.

"Wa-wait, what are you doing? Th-This doesn't seem right. Can you please let go of me!"

"What? I thought you two haven't got 'that' far?"

"This is not making sense, Ophelia." I tried to push her, only for her to catch my left arm. "Ugh."

"Hm…" Ophelia's inches closer. I feel like crying now. Although it feels somewhat exhilarating.

Click! I heard the door open. My jelly-like feeling finally strengthened a little. I glanced and there she was, with the plastic bag of the convenience store. She looked at me with a confused face.

"Hm?" Ophelia's hands reached mine, which was resting on the table. She looked at me, eye to eye. "Our bloodline's consist of feral women, you know."

I finally snapped. With no restrictions, I bursted out of the seat and rushed through her. Hiding behind her back seems spineless, but it's instincts that's talking to me.

"Sis, could you just calm down." She put down the convenience store bag on the table as I hid still behind her back. "Here's the napkin you asked for. And this is what I bought as an extra." She showed us popcorn, which I assume is the snack we're going for.

"Okay then," Ophelia's wild aura dissipated. "Thankies. Have fun, then." She smiled.

And so, we two walked into her room as I continued to use her as a shield. As she closed the door, she looked at me. "Anything you wanted to tell me about?" she said.

"Uh, nothing," I said confidently.

Suddenly, she hugged me. I was pushed back to her room's door, as if I'm prohibiting anyone from entering. I wrapped my arms around her as a return and smiled.

"I missed you." she said, continuing to hug me.

"We just saw each other yesterday," I replied.

With this passionate hug, I have realized something. It might be weird and nonsense, but I think it's about time to say it. Her hug is hurting my back. Like, it hurts. I feel like my bones are being crushed. Although that might be an exaggeration. I took a deep breath and mustered up an excuse to escape.

"So what movie are we watching?"

"Oh, yeah." She finally let go.

I took a deep breath of sigh and looked at her as she inserted the USB to the television. Being feral really runs in their bloodline, huh.

"Mom?" I said as I spoke through the phone. It was just recently when the two went inside her room. And now, mom's called all of a sudden. What a coincidence.

"Are you two okay there?" mom asked. "You, Ophelia. You've been taking care of yourself?"

I smiled before answering. Typical mother, right? And it feels good to be reassured. "Of course, mom. I'm both taking care of myself and little sis."

"Good, good. So how's the two?" mom asked. "They've been going along well, still?"

"More than well, mom."

Mom laughed. She's been keeping track of the two, which is really wholesome. I wonder if grandmother is like this too?

"So, how about you and Christine?"

I smiled, once again. "What'd you expect, mom? He's the best among the best. We're fine as a newborn baby."

We both laughed.
