Under the Moonlight (4)

Kieran watched as his mortal mate poured water on the bonfire, making sure that it was extinguished before they left. His cloak was too huge on her small form, but he didn't dare to take it back from Iris.

He wondered if she could sense the pull between them through their mating bond. Even before he reached Misty Moon Mountains, his mating rune had started to itch and was heeding him to get closer to Iris Scarborough. It only intensified when he finally had her in his arms.

"What do we do now?" Iris called him out, looking at him again with her doe-like eyes.

Her voice was soft and resonant, as if she was gliding her fingertips over his mating rune. It did something others didn't. It brought goosebumps on his skin and the demon lord couldn't decide whether he liked it or not.

"We resume our travels. We'll be able to reach the City of Dawn by morning." He replied.

"And how do we do that?" She arched a brow on him.
