Killian sighed, his gaze fixed on Iris as he spoke softly. "I'm not upset with you, Iris. I'm just trying to wrap my head around everything that happened. It's a lot to process."
Iris paused, her hands still submerged in the stream, as she contemplated Killian's words.
"Is it hard for you to believe I'm choosing to be with you? Do you think so poorly of me that you think I'm using you for some ulterior motive?" She laughed mirthlessly and added, "You must think of me as foolish for jumping into someone who professes their love to me after knowing them for such a short time."
Killian's expression softened, and he took a step closer to Iris, his presence comforting and warm. "No, Iris, that's not it at all," he reassured her. "It's just... I've spent most of my life alone, avoiding attachments and keeping myself distant from others. And then you came into my life, turning everything upside down."
