The Testament

In the dining room, the next morning, all the Li family members gathered for breakfast, the ritual Luna had forgotten for how long she had missed it since the last time grandma Li ditched her out of the mansion.

In the center sat the old lady, the most revered person among the people in the room whose words meant a decree everyone has to abide by. Near her was her daughter, Sandra whose lips curled in a bright smile of happiness, the scarce thing she displayed during meal time. Danis, her son, settled opposite her with his wife, Luna next to him.

The maids served the food in agility and poured the water in each of their cups; they walked around from one person to another. When they started enjoying their food, the maids retreated to the kitchen and the ambience of the room turned as quiet as the night with only the cutleries creating the sounds.
